- Do you have dreams in the dark? I hope you don't sleep with the lights on! Badlands Jake E Lee's band from back in the day! Today we listen to Dreams in the Dark from Badlands. Navind Moodley said Shane do some Badlands, soooo let's do it!
Badlands was a blues rock band founded by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee, former Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen, Eric Singer, as well as former Surgical Steel bass player Greg Chaisson. After the first Badlands album, Eric Singer was replaced by Jeff Martin

This album is a flawless masterpiece.... Every single song is great!!! Every song. High Wire, Dancing on the Edge, Devil's Stomp, Seasons, Winter's Call, Hard Driver, of course Dreams in the Dark....and more. OMG...this is on my top 5 best albums ever made.
This whole Album is so GREAT! Ray Gillen was an Amazing Voice and Singer. Another left to soon. RIP RAY!
Great album, great singer, terrible human. Knowingly gave aids to plenty of women and ruined lives, which in turn screwed badlands they discontinued production and never reissued the albums, due to law suits. Forever tarnished his name. What a selfish prick.... But he did have some banging tunes.
@@KyleSoutar that’s just an Eddie Trunk gossip story. Don’t believe it!
At 3:05 you get that classic signature Jake E. Lee sound. The man is a total beast on guitar which is what makes him also my favorite Ozzy guitarist. I think what set him apart for me was he wasn't the cookie cutter "Randy" guitarist. He brought charisma and chops and his style was just different. Granted this may not be a popular opinion but he just had that "it" factor for me which is why he's a huge influence to me. Once again Shane you delivered. Thanks for this awesome track! \,,/\,,/
Amazing debut album ! Every song is a banger.
I got Jake E LEE'S Guitar Pick on the 1st Badlands Tour. This Guitar was a Florescent Gold that Really Pops under a STROBE or BLACK LIGHT THANK YOU JAKE
Badlands is one of my favorite bands that ever played. Live they blow up anything on record even though their albums rock. You’ll notice the drummer here is Eric Singer. The second album the drummer is the singer of Racer X! Ray Gillen was the tour singer of Black Sabbath for the Seventh Star tour when Glenn Hughes couldn’t tour from being “punched in the face and have blood dry in his throat”. Jake needs no intro. The bassist is Greg Chassion, whose biggest band was badlands and him and Jake are perfect for each other. You have to watch some live Badlands!!! They are like a modern Humble Pie with better musicians. They got put in hair category mainly because of this video. Again, check out their shows! Ray died and there is controversy around him- enough that Atlantic put them out of print and won’t let anyone else print them. Badlands fucking rules!
All their albums are some of my all time favorites.
Just found this video…. Loved Badlands back in the day… saw them at a club called The Living Room in Providence, RI in 1990. Ray Gillen R.I.P. had such a great voice and Jake E Lee is just fantastic!!
just got into metal in 89 just after graduating high school Metallica and GNR hearing this song i was hooked but they were done before they really got started.
I was watching headbangers ball on a Friday night when this song came on then wound up buying the whole tape in walmart and listened to it on the way ba k to our vacation apartment at my mom's friend's place in florida
Fantastic tune and a superband
Heard it back in the day found it again on youtube.
Great band....to bad Ray passed. 1st album was awesome! Saw Badlands during their 1st Tour at Lamour's in Brooklyn in 89! Sat right next to Jake's Amps, deafening!
Badlands are amazing Ray greatest rock vocal ever
Singer Ray was just amazing I remember buy this album in walmart of all stores back in the day it was 89 88 when the album came out I cranked it up in my aunts car the whole album was awesome from side a to side b my mom hated it lol I just turned it up more
Love badlands Jake E. Lee is great and so is Ray G. May he R.I.P. gone but not forgotten
High wire was my second favorite song wish I could find this on vinyl
I found a live clip of High Wire with Ray, I am gonna do it on the channel for you Doug, keep on the lookout it's gonna be a couple weeks but it's on the way for you!
Hey thanks as badlands was one if my fav 80s bands
Was the best vacation money I ever spent also bought the cult sonic temple that year another great album that year that came out that year
Yeah men! The best song reaction ever!¡
I thought "wow this guy reminds me of David Coverdale!" Good song! This was my first song I heard by them on the power hour on muchmusic in Canada...ran out and bought the cassette the day after
When people ask me my favorite album of all time is I say Badlands Badlands. It is just the right amount of rock, blues, funk, it’s sexy but still rocks. Love it😎🤘🏼
Oh yeah I remember hearing this one many times on Z-Rock back in 1989 :)
Gillen controversy aside, Badlands are overdue some love. They could've been huge, alas it wasn't meant to be.
I remember that Jamm. Jake is a badass but wasn’t my cup o tea back when it came out. I didn’t think it sucked just focused on heavier stuff.
I would sometimes mix this band up with Blue Murder - most likely because of Ray's early association with them. I was only moderately (at best) interested in Badlands at the time because I found Jake E. Lee attractive...I otherwise was not too enthusiastic about the material, at least not back then. I haven't heard this song or anything else by them in a LONG time so perhaps I shall revisit it and see what I think now. Unfortunately, I am still not keen on this one, though. RIP Ray...yes, an amazing vocalist despite my opinions of this material or any of the bands he sang with (I HATE Whitesnake - hey, just being honest)...I always had him grouped with guys like Paul Rodgers and Joe Lynn Turner. And no disrespect but I'm sorry....his look in this video just screams Shania Twain to me.....
Ricky used to be part of Black Sabbath
Bass player is Greg Chaisson
Greg Chaisson is the basist
Yer lyin' man... I can tell you've heard this song by watching your syncopated choreography.
The singer was Rick Gillen
Ray
Great song the first badlands album is their best how bout some McAuley Schenker group gimme your love
I loved Badlands ss a kid. Great blues metal. Ray Gillen was sort of openly gay, I remember- - which was cool to me as a kid. I am/ was straight, but I I had a lot of gay friends growing up & I always appreciated seeing any marginalized individual succeed. Ray did die before they could fulfill their promise as a band. It's a shame because it would have been great to have their authentic approach to hard rock in an era when Pearl Jam was getting more attention than they deserved.
Actually, he was not gay. He had women dropping at his feet. He shot up H apparently once with his uncle, who was a addict, and rumor has it that his uncle was gay. He contacted the aids virus, and later passed away from complications of the virus.
Reb Beach!??? Lmfao! I’m out..
Great 1rst album ! Second one not so much (my opinion)...you can tell Eric Singer isn't on drums who is a great drummer !
Is that reb beach???...lol wtf
Hey Clark haha I caught myself, for some reason i was thinking this was a super group... they guy was playing bass.. lol.
@@ShaneDiablo love the show just got a kick out of that comment made me laugh out loud keep up the good work
I’m puzzled by all these responses. You all seem to feel very strongly about these musicians and this band. For me, it’s a nice song, totally my genre, but it’s not inspiring any turbulent feelings. Yeah, Jake E. Lee - great. But I can’t count how many bands he’s been in. Ray - great too on vocals. Do not know anything about his private life, but RIP. Just an average song from that time period. Sorry I can’t get worked up over it!!
Oddly enough, I felt the same way back then, but today? I love it.
He died of AIDS I believe in 1993. Was some controversy with him sleeping around when he knew he had AIDS Great band, I think..
Unpopular opinion, but my ears don't like his voice. He has that Don Dokken "over singy" sound that I hate.
