- An 18-year-old is accused of kidnapping two delivery drivers in the Spring Branch area, but the wife of one outsmarted the suspect.

This isn't driving for a restaurant, you are an independent driver, I got a dash for $25 bucks just to deliver McDonald's 4 miles, while you probably sit on your butt, hate your job and have to accept anything! I made $70 bucks in 4 hours, u do the math, part time!
To be bold enough to kidnap at gun point- ought to get a hefty sentence- this is a serious crime.
And try to rip off food delivery drivers is low, really, really low. Delivery drivers put in crazy long hours for their pay.

This is why my husband and I have location shared always with each other. Also, I did DD not too long ago until I figured out another terrible thing about these companies… the financial ruin they can leave you in. I tried to research the insurance side before starting and thought I had it figured out. Not in the middle of a delivery? Insurance pays for it. During a delivery? DD pays for it. I recently discovered something and I believe I was wrong. If you are making a delivery and someone ELSE hits YOU… insurance won’t pay unless you have special insurance to make commercial deliveries and the delivery company only pays if their driver is at fault. If you can’t afford the “special insurance” it’s probably best not to mess with delivery companies like Uber and DD.

Honestly, I've never been a fan of the Uber branch of delivery service & this just helps to keep my conviction. I mean there's been numerous videos about Uber drivers being taken advantage of by punks. All drivers that use Uber/Lyft need to have an internal camera installed as a safety measure to ensure that if anything like this happens, the criminal will be caught & taken into jail.
When you call for a delivery, you order someone to risk their lives.
It's just dinner, learn to cook.

Uber eats drivers make about 20 bucks an hour, he wanted to take 100 hours of the guy’s work and he’ll get about 131,400 hours in prison! That’s 15 years!

How do expect people to respect your news station when you say “accused of kidnapping” the boy is not accused he is guilty said and done, there is no need for a trail other than to confirm the facts and sentence him.
He held them at gun point and forced them to locations they were not going. That’s kidnapping and robbery. And the police caught him doing it. There is no Grey area on this one.

That reporter is not familiar with the Gig Economy. Everyone who does Gig work long enough knows that 99% of Gig workers don't rely on just one app. The wife didn't say that she's against him doing Doordash, Postmates, GrubHub, etc. just that she is against him doing Uber Eats.
And I don't blame her Uber's S1 filing they did to become listed on the stock market said they knew driver dissatisfaction was an issue that will grow as they aim to reduce driver incentives. Eliminating driver safety is one way to do that.
