Good documentary. I woul have liked to hear moree from some of his black friends and contemporaries, not only white people. The most footage I've ever seen of him painting, fantastic.
I have a lot more appreciation and respect for Jean Michel's art after watching this! I grew up during the 80's and 90's... everything seemed so unrefined and "plastic" or... disposable perhaps. He was a very genuine person it seems. 😎🇺🇸
@@ktiitfa2491 indeed, actually you're correct in my humble opinion. Yet, I believe we were having the same opinions at thst time as well. Thanks for the comment. 😎🇺🇸
@@matthewschwartz6607 I'm not sure, to be honest here... Although Jeffrey Wright was a tremendous actor playing the role of Jean Michel, I honestly don't know enough about his life to speak upon the accuracy of the film. I believe a lot of movies that are biographical take certain liberty for theatrical purposes and high drama, rather than accuracy. I believe it's a reasonable representation of his life. Perhaps though, someone reading this can elaborate more about that question. Be well, great question by tbe way. 😎🇺🇸
whenever someone great comes along the old celebs wanna attach themselves, elton john does it to everyone now, warhol did it to Basquiat...riding coat tails
I remember when I used to scribble with crayons.. Yikes.. standards have dropped quite a bit since the sphinx, eh? I had work which would have rivaled this back in mississippi in the early 90s when I was in 1st grade. Heck, I could have even written black athletes. Or spelled the word slave and ship. Then draw a black circles 😂 with 2 dashes for eyes and and an L for a nose. .. I mean my goodness... can we honestly, aside from all this emotional tug on the heart string type dialog in this doc, that this is a "good" artist.. if so. Yall should be paying each and every kid finger pai ting currently. 🙄 while they go to recess smh.

Goat sound 7:31

Come si chiama la musichetta di sottofondo quando fanno vedere lui con suo papà? Vi prego qualcuno me lo può dire??
Does anybody know what song is playing at 1:38?
It’s probably from Charlie Parker
@@MarioDuran-c7xI’ve tried Shazamming it and nothing. Does kind of sound like him.
Part 4 👀
Part 4 now
6:30 fire that interviewer
Every clip I’ve seen of that interview has me thinking the same. The thinly-veiled prejudice is everywhere. Wonder what they were trying to prove!
Dude says like a creep he aold those paintings 😢 Dude you sold them for your drug habits 😢

Stupidest critics and even stupider interviewers. I would have loved to pick his brain and actually talk about his art.
Clearly this white guys, "boy toy"
The things one will give up for money is astonishing to me. Lord please help us. 🙏
