Klay ascended as one of the best shooters ever and indirectly provoked the separation of Westbrook and Durant, ultimately creating the Warriors superteam. this series was one of the best I've ever watched. okc was on their way to beat Goldenstate but them magic happened and klay went crazy giving them one last shot to win it all. Game 6 Klay will always be the best player on the floor.

This was one of the greatest psychological collapses I’ve ever seen from a team in sports history. Folks highly underestimate the importance of a stable & strong mental game when it comes to athletics. Doesn’t matter how talented you are, if your mental game isn’t up to par, you’re wasting your time.

lol what? i was a diehard okc fan at time and know exactly what this was: an easy choke. Reason for that is: ur going against 73-9 team with two players who when they get hot (like klay did) it’s impossible to beat. an okc team with ZERO offensive scheme. playbook completely revolved around if kd and russ were playing how they usually do, which they weren’t and it caused an easy “collapse”

@Malik Kai facts. But I believe feeding Klay was the game plan from the start tho. They were legitimately running sets strictly for klay to shoot. If you watch the last four minutes of the 4th, golden state ran a base Phil Jackson triangle offense set (with mainly steph, klay, igoudala), but ran it with about 5-6 variations of that play...about 4 of them were for klay to shoot.
Here are the factors why GSW got this:
1:36:08 - Green's defense on Westbrook
1:34:03 - Iggy's defense on KD
1:35:13 - Iggy's defense on Westbrook and pass to Klay in the fastbreak
1:38:28 Green's steal on KD

All the talk historically has been about GSW's offense, which actually has been just above average. Their defense, on the other hand has been consistently top shelf.
Their defense for 2021-2022 was tied for #1, in the regular season, and they had 5 players in the top 30 defensively: Curry, Green, Wiggins, Iguodala and Poole. Porter Jr. was 54th and Thompson was 64th. That's 7 guys in the top 10% in the league.
In 2015, they had the best defense; 2016, 3rd best defense; 2017, 1st; 2018, 4th; 2019, 3rd; 2021, 3rd; 2022, tied for 1st...
Sure.. but what would that have meant without Klays splashes?

Man I still got pumped up every time watching Klay putting on this show, this is one of the best individual performance considering the circumstances.
My favorite part of this game was when Klay walked into the locker room. Joe Lacob, the owner of the team, bows to Klay. Good times.
Breaks my heart seeing how much quicker Klay was off the dribble, on-ball defense, and moving without basketball before his two ACL injuries.

Damn Curry clearly injured on that left knee and still managed to bring value, we can notice that he holds it from time to time and he has awkward finishing to avoid landing on it, he even traveled to avoid jumping off of it...Curry is a warrior and 2016 was still his greatest year, playoffs included, cuz with one Leg he still brought GS to the finals in 7 games.

Nahh watch this highlight, KD only scored once in the lat 3 minutes. Finished with 27 points but not being assertive closing the deal. Curry took over the fourth and dropped 8 assist 5 rebounds to seal the game.

I miss this Klay Thompson. The one who barely dribbled the ball and walks away with 30 points leaving the other team wondering how. Then you check the stat sheet and it's because he hit 11 3s on you. On any given night classic Klay was either a sniper or a nuclear weapon.

OKC just completely gave it up in the last three minutes of the game. No plan on both offense and defense ends. Those inbound plays are just painful to watch. Players express frustration at 1:35:38 and 1:38:26. Trust is broken between the coach and players. It was understandable for KD to leave this team after losing to the GSW.

Cool watching how basketball talent just keeps improving. Mental toughness yes. The player’s are all basically relying on muscle memory from years and years of practice. As a musician I recognize what an amazing jam these games are, live and in the moment reacting to one another and the environment. Taking chances is part of creating beauty though sometimes you miss other times you create heaven on earth. The impossible becomes possible!

@@mantgrta9728 Even if he does not have the best handles and dribble to create his own shots he has a nice low post or high post post up game that translates into a fade away or he cuts in frequently to get seperation from defenders to get shots while guarding very good guards and still able to drop +20 points and drop about 4-6 3's per game. He has higher career points than Curry and Durant with 60 while taking minimum dribbles.

Klay was great challenge force to Game 7 for the 3-1 deficit against All-stars KD and Russell Westbrook with Oklahoma City THUNDER in Western Conference Finals 2016.
Klay's first-time NBA Playoffs/Conference Finals record with 11 3-point.

Its just crazy to me how ppl say this team needed kd to beat LeBron. They were literally up 3-1 on him. And it went dwn to the final minute for them to lose. Lets be real them losing was a miracle. The injuries and ref calls suspensions all that had to happen for lebron to win. I believe the warriors were injured and won 3 games. During the regular season wen both teams were fully healthy the warriors whooped the cavs. Thr warriors would have still been the warriors without kd.
They weren't going to beat the Cavs in '15, or '17 if we're going to talk about hypotheticals. If Kyrie or even Love weren't injured in '15, the Cavs win in 5. The Cavs in '17 were the best iteration of the Lebron-Cavs and even had a higher offensive rating than the KD Warriors, but their defense was complete trash when Lebron stepped off the court. More teams would've figured out how to guard the '16 Warriors by '17 and '18 than they could the KD Warriors. They would still be the Warriors, but the KD Warriors is infinitely better, especially in the playoffs, than a bunch of good role players. '17 Warriors blew out every single team in the playoffs.

Warriors deserved the 2015 title more than the Cavs. In 2015, Warriors were 67-15 and better defensive rating than 96 Bulls. Cavs were not even 1st in east. Iguodala shut down lebron to 39% (3rd most missed in finals history) and went 3-0 in the lineup . Warriors could have swept LeBron there too. Cavs won 2 games but only by 7 points combined. Warriors won by 43 point difference. It was a blow out series. Kyrie was there in game 1, and Cavs were still losing when he got hurt.
