I was born in the early 90's but grew up on these gems and a few others from before then such as It's a Mad, mad, mad, mad world, 2001, and the first two Godfather's to name a few. I really wish we could get back to that quality of cinematography, I feel like especially after the 90's good movies are few and far between.

Heh, Ed Harris looks fairly unique but rather young. Scott Glenn meanwhile looks sallow faced even in this, I guess he is a decade older though. Ed Harris was ~32 (born in '50) Scott Glenn was ~43 (born in '39)

Veronica Cartwright said in an interview I saw that she didn't ever meet Betty Grisom. I wonder if she purposely chose not to because she wanted her performance to come across as more natural on screen without people who knew Betty Grisom in real life finding her performance to be a mere imitation ? Cartwright was already a veteran actress at the time, having been one of the busiest and best child actresses of the sixties and later having major roles in at least three sci Fi horror classics.
This was an era of great growth in American history. I wish I could have been part of it. Instead I was born in 2000 and had to graduate during the pandemic…and find work during a recession, not to mention the idiocy of cultural “enlightenment” we are currently passing through…

He appeared in the movie, he was a advisor for the film and was cast as the bartender at Pancho's happy bottom riding club bar.
I met him as a boy when my dad took me to an airshow. He seemed kind and wise. I got selected for lieutenant colonel this year.
Movie still gives me goose bumps - fantastic movie to experience.

What happened to the three of them was HORRIBLE! 😭😭😭 And for their families also who have had to live with the knowledge of what happened.
Theodore Freeman, Elliot See, and Charles Bassett were all US astronauts and died well before the Apollo 1 fire...
