Don't be fooled. These girls are ultra skilled and talented. They've since polished their skills and play with a lot more feel and much fewer mechanics & technicality. Hopefully, they put the band back together after they're all finished with their solo projects.

Melvin Estefa he wasn't on top at the start, to begin with. Like many other artists, he started from the bottom and worked his way up. He knows pretty much what it takes to be at the top.
A clean and solid performance. It's not unique by any means, but it's hard work. They may not be over-talented virtuosos, but they got where they are through practice.

AGT judges are actually too nice. David is very critical and balances all that. He is right. They are cute but these girls have no chance if they don't up their performance after seeing the talents we have seen on stage so far. They seem to be not aware of their current level of performance to rock music until David told them. It really broke their hearts and egos. Hopefully they can find the music or song best for them.
You like Japan enough to name your TH-cam account in Japanese, but dont understand their culture? All japanese performers care about their appearances. Its in there culture to also value femininity and to not get fat. You cant find any that look disheveled. You'd be amazed how easy it is to be pretty if you're not fat. Thats why they all look so good. The hair and makeup is just a bonus.
you don't train to be a rockstar. you practice to be a rockstar. training means precise and calculated movements. it looks fake if used in the rock genre, because rock is where you are supposed to " get out of the box" and be you.
David is so right. They have talent, of that there is no denying. They have looks, they're very cute. But they have no soul. Their heart didn't look in it. They didn't make me feel. The job of the musician is to tell a story... to make you feel that they actually lived that story... much of the music from Korea and China and to some part Japan and many other places in Asia are absolutely devoid of heart and soul... their music is more focused on bubblegum pop, and extraordinary good looks. But while that may be entertaining... that's not real heartfelt music. Luckily, not all Asian music is that way... but unfortunately, the most popular artists in Asia are the manufactured ones.
You are right. Only when they did original music (there is one song posted online of it) did they have the energy that is missing here. It was actually pretty good and it got over 600,000 hits. For a band with no presence, it was not that bad... but not enough as they broke up at the end of 2015.
I agree much of pop from East Asia is 'soulless' but so is much of the contemporary sounds (I refuse to call them music) that is produced in the West, contrived, formulaic and mostly total rubbish! And don't get me started on rap, hip-hop and other junk that is so pervasive every where one goes.

I'm an American who has lived in Japan a long time, and I have to admit a lot of Japanese rock feels the same way to me--it's done in the same manner as pop music. I know rock music isn't high art by any means, but it ain't the same as pure pop music either. (Not to say that there aren't great Japanese or Korean rock groups--there are! But the feel of the scene as a whole just doesn't do it for me. Rule number one: If you want to play rock music, first learn some blues!)

I used to LOVE J-rock (and still do!) because there were a lot of earnest bands to be discovered- Ajikan and RIZE, for example- but overtime, the bands that have been coming out lately are very contrived and operate in what's safe and popular like pop acts would. I agree about your rule: Rock 101 is that you get down and dirty with the forefathers of blues and early rock FIRST, especially if you want to leave a lasting impression.
Tzadeck Asian culture is very rigid still and the 50's, 60's and 70's that we had in the west in which it was all liberated, art and social structures, that hasn't really happened yet. I have been on exchange in Korea and will go to Seoul again for my internship but that's one of the things I have a hard time dealing with. Music is a sympton of the current state of the culture. I'm enjoying this Korean band called Jang Kiha and the Faces though! They remind a lot of the 60's in Britain and are very consciously trying to do something different than their colleagues.
