    It's true, Jackie is mostly saying "I don't want any trouble" and evading, dodging and running away during his fight scenes. He's not playing an invincible guy most of the time. He shows his vulnerability.

    Chris Tucker did say "You follow my lead, and do what I do."

    Very reality base fight scene, JC never display himself invincible in the movie which is great.

      Jacky always fights realistically, unlike Steven Seagal.

    You know Jackie Chan actually had to learn English for this movie so I don't blame him he didn't really know how offensive the word is but they told him

    • @Hieillua
      @Hieillua ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You know he's acting in this scene, right? And that he's reading it from a script, right? That he is well aware how offensive the word is IRL but that he was acting this scene for a movie. This ain't CCTV footage. It's a movie. People play pretend in movies. It's not Jackie Chan saying it. It's a character.

    • @radioethiopiate9327

      @@Hieillua Jackie's English was pretty basic when he did this film. It might seem pretty late in his career, but he really hadn't done a lot in the US and was learning a fair amount of his lines phonetically. He speaks much better English now, but at the time he struggled quite a bit just delivering lines. They reference it in the end credit bloopers.
      Now, does that mean he didn't know what he was saying here? Nah, he likely had a fair idea. But might not have fully understood the weight/significance of it.

      @@Hieillua Jackie Chan is saying it or saying something close to it. You said it yourself, he's reading from a script.

    Agreed, Jackie always makes himself the underdog facing unfair odds. His characters got the skills, but just barely enough to keep him alive to the next scene. That's what makes him more exciting to watch than most other martial arts actors.

    Honestly as an Asian speaking if social media didn’t existed I would have never known about the n word and what it meant. So yea that’s why Jackie chan also never knew about it. Like even my parents don’t know about it until recently.

    I'm from the UK, but I've been in numerous conversations with people from the Far East, and it's rather common that some people don't know about the N word, its history, and differences between the slang and hard R versions. But this is not surprising, as culturally the N word is a western thing. So, this scene depicts that really well that an Asian Detective may not have encountered the word before, and Carter did say to follow his lead. And ultimately, it's nigh impossible to hate on Jackie Chan.

      True. Case in point, the rapper Rich Chigga, named himself that as if he was calling himself a Chinese N___. He had no idea it was offensive until he was called out on it and he changed his name to Rich Brian, lol

      @cvpiguy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea true im an Asian here and honestly if it weren’t for social media I would have never known about the n word. And back then there were no social media so yea you get the point. No way in hell he’s going to know

    That's why Jackie Chan is one of a kind; he is always the underdog. Being the underdog, he has to be creative, so anything around him he'll use as a weapon. And like you said with Steven Seagal, most Hollywood action stars always try to act like they're invincible. But not Jackie. Pain definitely humanizes him, and we feel it. Every hit, I feel, like him breaking the pool cue.

    Na dude if you know the truth about these movies Jackie at that time didn't understand what he was saying. He just followed with what they told him to say and how to say it. He even said it in one blooper for Rush hour 2 " why you making me say bad words I don't understand?" He didn't know what that word meant 🤣🤣cause at that time he didn't speak English correctly or understood it.
