Loved Ireland north to south, in September. Galway, however, would be a miss next time. It was a necessary evil to travel Galway Bay and the Aran Islands (spectacular).
You could have went into the Skeffington, they have signs like that up to keep the bad clientele out. Which you clearly are not. It mainly applies to night time when the drinking crowd is out.
Years ago we went to Scotland to find where my mother’s clan was from. We walked into a little shop that helps people with their genealogy and said to the little old lady working there that we wanted to look up my mother’s family and she said, “ Well, I hope she’s not a McDonald cause I wouldn’t spit on a McDonald”
Have been really binge watching you guys now and really love your vibe..Thank you for introducing me to Katie O Connor ...I'd not heard of her and now checking her out...isn't TH-cam wonderful. Yes I do love Galway and the whole coast of Ireland is a treat..my way is the motorbike. ❤
Love it. My parents were both from Ireland, and my Dad from Gort a small village near Galway. Had many a trip over and it is absolutely the people. And full Irish breakfasts with white pudding. And Tato crisps for an afternoon snack. 🙂
Thanks for another great video. Personally, I love old churches. Like you, I’m not particularly religious but I love the beauty and the sense of peace.
Looking forward to seeing ye in Limerick, hope you get to see the city of Limerick, if so ye should check out (King John's castle) you'll love it. And if you want lots of shops, then check out the crescent shopping centre it's a short drive from the city centre in the sub of Raheen. Limerick, looks like a very American city from its city gridblock streets layout, and Manhattan, New York copped Limerick's streets layout years ago you'll see this at once if you're in the city centre and you're driving along it's O'Connell street. Limerick also has a London feel to it from its long Georgian areas and long streets. Make sure you drive around the georgian areas of the city centre and see People's Park, you'll like the park. and the Milk Market is a must see.
Fun tour of a blustery day in Galway. Enjoyed all the sights and your burrito looked legit, Sarah. As soon as Neil entered the record shop, I knew he’d head straight for the N’s :) Funny story about Sarah’s mum 😂 Thanks you two! I don’t recall the video about the McDonald’s clan, darn it.
I love going into churches! Especially old cathedrals- my husband usually waits outside to avoid the lightening 😂 about a week into a month long stay, I start looking forward to the next location.
Now that you have the house in Spain you could consider house swapping f you want to stay somewhere for a month. We did house swapping for 10 years till Covid and old age put a stop to it.
I’m from Galway and it’s amusing to see a tourist’s perspective of the city. The Cathedral is nice on the inside (but rather ugly on the outside, especially the outer walls being so bland), but St Nicholas’s Church of Ireland (Anglican) is a medieval church and a much nicer building; the inside is simpler, but has a greater sense of history to it. The University of Galway also hosts perhaps the most beautiful building in Galway city, the Quadrangle, which was built in 1845. I’m fairly sure the Skeffington Arms pub has had some bad experiences with students; hence the dress code and the fact it’s over 21s only. Also, Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop is a must visit, as it has a brilliant selection and great atmosphere. The city is well situated too, since it’s near Connemara and the Burren and has decent rail connections to Dublin, Limerick and the rest of the rail network. Don’t waste your time in those silly jumper shops or worst of all, those wretched Irish gift shops :). In terms of pubs Tigh Neactain on Quay street has a great atmosphere, and then theres other popular ones such as Taafes, King’s Head, etc… I wouldn’t rate the museum too highly, but it’s worth a brief look.
We spent a glorious sunny week in Galway in September 2023. We also watch many videos about Ireland before our trip and many showed sunny days in Galway.
If you do return to Galway I would recommend spending a couple of days on the Aran Islands you can catch a ferry from Rossaveal to Inis Mor.
Galway was by far my favourite place that my wife and I visited when we toured around Ireland. It has a great vibe, and many lovely and lively bars.

Can't imagine why. No reasons to give us?

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. My great great grandfather’s home, but have never been. I enjoyed vicariously.
I love touring old churches and cathedrals, religious sites. Fascinating.
Enjoy the content and seeing around Ireland
A fellow Numanoid! Toronto, October 14, 1980. Best concert ever! That and excellent travel content too!
Brilliant! Great to meet you Shawn.

Still taking notes 😊👍🏻 (I can’t help checking which Neil Young albums are in stock!)
Its a pity you missed Pope John XX111 and John F Kennedy in the Cathedral.

Love that Erin. Stan and I are very similar 😀

We loved the museum. It was our favorite venue to visit in Galway.
lots of even irish people leave from galway because of super terrible weather even by irish standards
