As a retired Army Sgt. OIF vet, I have to say, this is the absolute best song I have ever heard in my 54 years on earth.

I don't think you understand the song then. This guy realized that his job was turning poppies into heroin and he couldn't wait to get out of there, he didn't retire. USA military is not heroes but fools. Only an idiot would stay in 20 plus years and then proudly spout his credentials in the TH-cam comment section looking for glory like Napoleon dynamite brother. My favorite military man is the most decorated USA marine in USA history, his name is Smedley Butler. Last line in this song "tell me I'm a hero now someone else can fight this war" not I think I'll stay here for a quarter of my life helping the largest most well funded military wipe out indigenous dirt farmers in some far off land at the behest of large corporations

I got 50 years, spent 17 of them as a volunteer radio operator with the red cross... Grandad was in the Burma campaign working alongside the Ghurka Regt, ended up PoW'd to the Japs till the end of the war. A quiet man, but he'd have loved this song.

I never stepped outside the wire again without this blasting through the tent while we were getting REDCON 1. Infantry leads the way!

Some of those bands you mentioned are pretty terrible also. Especially shooter Jennings and Canadian ragweed. I'm a huge Waylon Jennings fan. Shooter and the other wannabes you can keep

@Antiks72 Actually it's not false. You're right that WW2 was the last time we legally deployed to combat. Police Action is a political term to skirt the issue. Any time you engage another country with any combat actions, it's an act of war. Every war since WW2 was illegal. And they do teach that "excuse" even today. I should know, I served 5 years in the Air Force. You are legally bound under the UCMJ to disobey any unlawful order.
