      I had a couple of friends who started working out as teenagers. They're both very strong and both can bench 450 lbs for a max. The both of them are shorter than the standard height for males in the US. I've met others through the years and I also noticed the same pattern. The guys who are taller and strong didn't start working out until their early 20s. I guess it's either the growth can go into the bones to get height or building up muscle size and strength. I'm sure there are exceptions since we're dealing dealing with people.

    All these fitnes utubers their whole day is counting calories, cooking, long training sessions, and protein shakes. You're the ideal guy to look up to. You have your priorities set but also maintaining a healthy routine and getting stronger and bigger. Respect

    • @insomniackiller1
      @insomniackiller1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah because most fitness TH-camrs train for aesthetics and size, obviously he doesn't which is why you don't get all that other stuff. It's a fact that bodybuilding is a shit load harder than powerlifting. He doesn't even track calories because he doesn't need to, all you need to do for strength training is get enough protein and food everyday and work on your core lifts, in this case his core lift is bench. I'm not saying his feats are something to scoff at but stop putting him on this huge pedestal like what he's doing is insanely hard. There's a lot of strength trainers on TH-cam that do the same thing. Bodybuilding= perfect diet+hypertrophy training which is waaaaaay more torturous than going into the gym and lifting heavy for a 3-5 reps. Try doing moderate weight (75-80%) for 10-15 reps and failure, your body will be screaming after a few sets. Try eating at a deficit for months to get shredded. It's hard af, and if you don't find a sustainable way to do it you'll never achieve it. Whereas strength training you don't really have to eat all that healthy, most power lifters eat like shit. Yeah this dude eats well, but if he really wanted more strength he'd pack on the calories and get stronger. Obviously not his goal but that's how it is. I did power lifting for about 3 years and I got super strong and it was awesome. Switched to bodybuilding, Im about 15-20kgs heavier and about the same strength but I look miles better but honestly its the hardest shit I've ever done in my life by far.

    • @Camzeyy
      @Camzeyy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@insomniackiller1 I'm not putting him on a pedestal, I'm just saying most people should strive to be like him. I've done the opposite where I spend my whole day eating, thinking about working out, and disregarding everything else in my life and it isn't a good path. Yea bodybuilding is a lot more work, but the average person isn't going to try to do that because it isn't their career. He's a good role model because he is working out and staying healthy, without dedicating his life to it. You should train to live not live to train. I get what you're saying, but if you only focus on working out and doing everything optimal, you have to sacrifice time to other parts of your life that are more important. It is different if it is your career, but there needs to be a balance with everything you do otherwise you ignore other important things. That was my point.

    For anyone thinking about trying his program:
    Ive ran it in the past and it is very very optimal for building strength and keeping it. It brought my bench up from around 205 to 245 in 2 4 week cycles (8 weeks total) and very rarely had issues with plateaus until i got too strong too quickly! I started having shoulder issues due to poor form at the time, but managed to get all the way up to 265 tng before having to call it quits due to injuries (i think my body wasnt able to handle how fast i was progressing). This was my own fault, however. Also i would always pause my sets but tng when i went for a 1rm.

      Pretty much any exercise with pausing is going to be more difficult. I almost always pause at the bottom of squats and below parallel. One time, I was on my third set of 365 for 3 sets of 4 reps, and I couldn't get out of the hole on the 2nd rep. I dropped the barbell on the pins,as my dad's lifting partner tried to grab it. If you're not going to use a spotter, just don't use clips. If you don't use clips, you can just tip the bar to one side so the weights fall off.

    I for one like that you put your kids in your videos. You know what's more impressive than a 385lb bench? Being a father to two beautiful kids. ( p.s I'm jealous I have one daughter and would be so happy if my 2nd is a boy )
