Angra its a brazilian band, this was they second formation with new singer, bassist and drummer, the band was formed in the early 90's. Here in Brazil Angra divide opinions, but is one of the biggest on the country maybe only behind of Sepultura. Yes they can play live, the singer now its another one (Fabio Lione) and the first singer was André Mattos, one of the greatests singers of the genre. I personaly like more of the songs from the first formation and the Holy Land album, that have a amount of brazilian music elements mixed with metal. The drummer (Aquiles Priester) is great, he participated of the auditions to join Dream Teather, he is one of the most arrogant guys on music too hahaha. Fun fact: Kiko Loureiro the actual guitar player of Megadeth came from Angra, and he is one of the biggest influences for Midori Tatematsu
I would say this is a more ''traditional power metal'' song, their most unique aspect are the mixing of brazilian music with classic and metal. They are HUGE in japan, a big influence for Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus and many other bands. I recommend ''The Shadow Hunter'' and ''Magic Mirror'' (this one is recent and has a live version)
React to "Make Believe" by Angra, the original version or live version in an old TV program, not the video clip version that has cuted out the epic final of this music. This live version, titled "ANGRA - MAKE BELIEVE (BEST PERFORMANCE)", has a amazing final with a duel between original vocals and guitar.
The Father of PowerMetal....Kai Hansen himself appears on the scene to save the day.......Edu Falashi (Angra Vocalist) had practically no voice by the time this album was recorded. He literally ripped his vocal chords apart trying to sing like the late Andre Matos.
It's a weird feeling, my GF loves to listen this band. A lot, I might add. And I don't know what's the issue but I never have liked this very much at all. It has grown in to me because I've heard this so many times. It's annoying when you feel something is off in this(i mean my perspective, not song itself) but you can't put your finger on it. So I know what you mean when in some comments you say the same thing.
Very "lovibitesish" sound. ) (Well, of course angra was formed earlier then lovebites, I know) What I try to say is that Angra was well known so they could have been one of the inspirations for bands after in this genre.
Angra is HUGE in Japan, i would say 90% of the power/speed/prog metal in Japan was influenced by then. Lovebites being one of them, Both Midori and Miyako have Kiko as a top influence for them.
Hey. If you want tô listen live. Search for Edu Falaschi Concert. But it hás passed around 15years, the Guy had some Voice issuea, but still very Nice. Best regards!
This album has not recorded in this modern autotuning era. Doesn't apply. Andre Mattos (the lead singer) was really a talent and a accomplished maestro. Unfortunatelly he has passed away
Not a huge fan of power metal per se but Angra is at the top of the heap. My favorite power metal bands usually aren't straight up power metal. Kamelot, Angra, Evergrey, Startovarius, Symphony X are pretty much the only ones I really like. Can't stand Gamma Ray, Helloween, Blind guardian and Rhapsody. Too repetitive, vocalists sing to high for my tastes and too much cheese
Seriously? Do you really think that Dragon Force sounds like Angra? I respect your opinion but you simply know nothing about power metal... first of all, Dragon Force is the worst power metal band ever (borring as hell, just fast notes that are meaningless), comparing Angra with Dragon force is the same thing to say that Back Street Boys sounds like Michael Jackson because both do (or did) Pop Music... And I would say, NO! power metal bands (at least the famous ones) are complete different from each other... Helloween, Blind Guardian, EdGuy, Angra are a good exemple of that, none of them sounds alike. But anyway, great video! Keep rocking!
fun fact: the drummer of this album is the teacher of eloy casagrande, the drummer for Sepultura
Correcting the drummer’s name: Aquiles Priester

Endeed they are.
Not only "could have". Midori from Lovebites has clearly stated she loves Angra.
