    As a recent retiree, I started studying web design as a hobby during lock-down last year. I enjoy its many facets: typography, color theory, programming, layout design, etc. This stuff will keep me engaged for the rest of my life. Many thanks for your great videos, Kevin !!

    Not everyone can teach you and specially these tech stuffs. But I really like your way of explaining. It's so nice and easy and the effort you made in detailing the explanation by showing single piece clearly is admirable! Thank you.

    You are allowing me to complete such a big project in my life with these videos.
    No baby just straight to the point and telling me real world applications. Thank you so much , I know what I want to be now and that’s a coder. Thank you

    Absolutely fantastic! I am learning Web Development from the TOP website and found your page through them. Of ALL the videos i listened to, yours tops them all!! Very good and clear explanations. Very enjoyable and easy to listen to also . Somehow you have a way of explaining things that help make me understand and not get stressed and I actually don't want to give up going ahead! Thank you so much for all your videos. You are a great teacher. So far I have learnt a lot from your videos and it has helped me with my website portfolio :) I really wish you could teach all programming courses x

    I just finished a grad diploma in tech and am doing a review and extending my skills. The program was a bit of a random buffet of courses instead of one course building on the one before. While it did help me find a direction for my second career, I don't feel ready to apply for jobs quite yet. This video was a nice refresher, and I learned a bit too (text decoration). Going through most of this playlist most mornings this week.

    Great series! Thanks for making it so easy to follow along with. I'm able to follow along with most of it without even watching the video. It makes it great review while I listen at work.

    I'm trying to get into a mid-life career change and learn coding. So I figured TOP and landed on your channel through there. Honestly, of the 1% of the people affecting positive change in this world, I'd say an easy 50% would be awesome people like you who are democratising education. I've found your videos very helpful till now, and I hope your content will be a source of reference for a long while to come. Also, one of the first things I'll do if I end up making money from coding is to buy some of your merchandise. Especially the T-shirts. Thank you for doing this Kevin!

    • @Aadityeah
      @Aadityeah ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kyanonshaman2635 None tbh. I got told by some dev friends to not get in cuz of generative AI. It's apparently making developers, especially junior devs redundant.

    • @Bahomar
      @Bahomar ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Aadityeah sorry to hear that, were you planning to get an UI/UX designer than? i have friends who told me the opposite. but it might matter where you wanna work as well.

    • @dnobttam
      @dnobttam หลายเดือนก่อน

      Generative AI is a game changer for big tech companies. Most companies can't afford the effort to do anything well with it, even if using the same big services (AWS, Google, Chat-GPT). There is still room for junior developers in tech. There is always grunt work (have to pay your dues, so to speak :). Look at some companies like Robert Half, which will contract out work, even contract-to-hire positions. It's a good way to get your foot in the door. And companies of all types need developers, even non-tech companies.

    Tks for your vids Kevin :o) I watch them completely and, Jodie Hebert was right when he gave me your name as a reference to learning html and css. He had come to talk to my College class (GWD). After his presentation, I contacted him to find out what would he recommend to me so that I can get ahead for my Web I class while on vacation. He suggested you and, that was the best suggestion I've gotten so far :o) I now feel way more confident that I will be able to successfully pass my web classes. Continue the good work.

    I am new to html and css but thoroughly enjoy it! Your videos are so easy to follow even for a newbie like me. I have a couple of questions:
    1) I cannot copy the font stack the way you demonstrated in your tutorial. The only way to do it is actually click on the font and select part of the font-family. Is there a quicker way to do it?
    2) When I was playing with font-decorations, some of them like wavy, dotted, double, didn't do anything? Why is that?
    Thank you

    Great video, it is very clear at all the only thing that I suggest is, could be very useful to add at the end of each video or in the description like a kind of summary of all the rule sets or new attributes seen in each video. So we can pay attention to the video a remember all the tools seen after we see all of them. Thats all, your videos are great. Thanks.

    Hello Kevin!
    I know you mentioned in this video that in a later video you're going over Google Fonts so this question will probably get answered in that video; But I'm going to ask it anyway in case it doesn't.
    When using an imported Google Font in your CSS sheet, does that then make it apply to all devices? From what I can tell on my first project I just did, it does. I used Dosis and Raleway imported to my CSS sheet with the @import call at the top of the sheet. I tested the site I was making on my PC with live server and also accessed it the same way VIA my tablet / phone and it seemed to load on everything. Not sure if Dosis and Raleway are just common fonts or if using the import method displays it on everything.
    Thanks in advance :)

    Very well structured and informativ video! Thank you! But why are you using px instead of em or rem? This would give you more flexibility with different browsers and devices.

    • @KevinPowell
      @KevinPowell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh for sure, I have videos that dive into em and rem! Wanted to keep it simple for this series, and most people coming in here are used to pixels. I wanted to focus on one thing at a time, and not two :) - plus I made this a long time ago, I was probably using pixels a lot more back then to be honest!

    Why doesn't computers have more fonts? And why does some computers have certain fonts and not others?

    • @KevinPowell
      @KevinPowell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on the fonts that a user has downloaded and installed on their system.
      Most people don't really need a lot of fonts, so the OS only comes with so many pre-installed
