The scene where everyone screaming was his funeral when the spread the ashes. It was amazing, a pod of dolphins showed up and followed the boat. He lived less than a mile from where I lived

I was at his funeral. It was epic. No one has ever been given the honors he was given. He deserve it. If not more. The funeral was so massive no building could handle it. Even a stadium wouldn’t be big enough. Lines for several city blocks away had people waiting to pay their respects. There were hula dancers. Rich and poor people. Locals and foreigners. It went on for hours. They had his funeral at the office build of the state capital.
His ash were lay out in the ocean. He was taken out by one of our rediscovered greatest ancient ships. Once again many came to their respect to him.
In Ancient Greece kings fear be forgotten. Sometimes wish they were a commoner because of it. IZ was that common man rise to greatness. That brought a sincere heartwarming voice to the masses. A man that will never be forgotten. That will always be remembered by the Hawaiian people and the world. Rest In Peace

@@lucasrossi8358 yes, most know the original version. Thats why I said he made it his own. Original is a classic but no ones driving in the car listening to the Judy Garland version.

IZ is an inspiration and was loved by all. I was at Makua when they spread his ashes from the Hokule'a. Cars stopped along the 2 lane road leading to Ka'ena bringing traffic to a stand-still. Hundreds of people were wading in the water and hundreds more were on land. A procession of big rigs blew and held their horns echoing through the valley while his ashes were placed into the ocean making it sound as if the State of Hawaii was crying . . . it's a moment I will never forget. An incredible celebration of life for an incredible man!!

He passed away at age 38.......He was 739 pounds at the time of his passing.
He came up with the idea for this rendition at 2am and he called the studio and asked if he could get in to record it before he lost the vibe.
They said he was so nice and polite that they got someone in to run the machines and he did this in one take.
That scene with everyone in the water was his memorial where they spread his ashes into the sea at his favorite beach.
His agent was his friend and promised him that they would continue to put out his unreleased music to support his family and continue his legacy.
He passed in 1997 and when I visited the islands in 2001 his music was EVERYWHERE.

The image of you two looking up while reacting is so very sweet. You guys get wide-eyed when you're moved by a song and it's almost childlike. Not implying either of you are immature, I just mean tilting your head at that particular angle conveys a real feeling of wholesomeness and innocence. Touches my heart. -Becca

His last name is pronounced...Kah-mah-kah-vee-voh-oh-lay. But most people refer to him as Braddah Iz. Although he died in 1997, at age 38, he music/influence continues to resonate, world-wide!

Great reaction and nothing less than expected. This rendition is just so pleasant and puts a smile on your face, best rendition of this song ever. Iz was gone way too soon but this song will keep him in people's minds for one very, very long time which is a whole lot more than most of can expect. That video has been viewed more than 95,600,000 times, the speaks volumes as to just how good it is. Click on it, would be really cool to see it hit one billion. Nice job, gents.

Loved your reaction and comments to this exceptionally touching & magical performance - brings tears to me eyes every time. Thanks for the post! The canoe they poured IZ's ashes from is the famous Hokulea, which has sailed all over the world.
