Yes be careful as antique store/flea market searching and buying is habit forming! Nice finds. Just yesterday I picked up a Richards Sheffield pipe knife that is in good condition for $6.00 and an Imperial Frontier Ireland knife. Thanks for showing your purchases.
Came to have a shufti at your razor. 🙂 It looks like the scales are compressed leather, which generally means First World War - if you're going to restore it I wouldn't hesitate for a second before chucking the horrible things in the bin, personally. The shape is what's sometimes referred to as a spike and they have a bad reputation for biting, but someone has wisely rounded the nose a bit and in fact it would make a good beginner's razor if you or anyone else intends shaving with it. Nice thing to find.
Nice lot there. I have a "George Wostenholm & Sons" straight razor, "Washington Works, Sheffield." Based on how I wound up with it, I believe it was my gg-grandfather's and maybe even his father's., (my ggg-grandfather). According to an authoritative online source, George Wostenholm bought the vacant Washington Works building in 1848, which was the same year my aforementioned ggg-grandfather and family emigrated to the US from Sheffield. The slip case that I have for it is difficult to read, but it appears to have a distributor's name in Massachusetts impressed on it. Trust me, the razor is sharp, like scary sharp. I have yet to figure out what the handle material is although it looks like it's bone of some kind.
that razor is in great condition, it's sadly quite common for them to be in random boxes in flea markets, ive never seen a razor in their matching box actually. a little warning, do not try to sharpen it like a knife, they are meant to lay completely on the stone and the spine dictates the angle. They take some practice and patience sharpening them but are great fun.

Nice finds. Yesterday I got a Case Whaler for $20.00 at an antique store.
The leather strap on the knife is for a pocket watch.

Antique Fair in Carmarthen next weekend.
The straight razor is an old Brooks & Crooks.
They were in business from 1858 - 1947
You'll be surprised what you can find out in the wild! I think you did very well.

Hi Matt, what do you use to sharpen your knives?. I use the Spyderco Sharpmaker.
Diamond stones
Good finds . I have paid more for similar finds in the UK . But beware hunting out flea mkts and junk shops is addictive.
