Players started yapping about "infinite parry trades" that they never even had, they were just echoing what the top 1% were saying to the point of lying about it so lets not pretend that it's entirely the dev's fault, they were trying to bring what the playerbase wanted at the time
It's so hilarious to see deepwoken follow the EXACT SAME ARC as Rogue Lineague. In the big 24 the biggest deepwoken glazers are switching to hating on the devs once again. Now we're just gonna see the youtubers continue to complain about the same shit for the next year and a half until cursed gear gets released and everyone will move on to that game. The cycle will repeat from there. This game is officially in the late stage.

Ive been preaching this since before Verse 2 dropped. Everyone was like "no your wrong parry trades take too long, theyre bad 🤓" And now look at what we have Tempo and venting is such a terrible bandaid for a problem that didnt exist until they created the problem
The solution reduce temp gain from all source outside of m1 damage and parrying because I fought my friend who vented 7 times in 1 fight how do you combo that.

The entire reason they switched to the combo-based combat is because high-level fights took too long, and they were worried that when everyone got better, the game wouldn't be fun anymore. People already complain about fights taking too long, now add back V1 parrying and it'll take even longer. Shaky block is there to be able to get real damage if your opponent messes up their parry. In Verse 1, you'd get a hit off and they'd immediately be able to parry even if they missed their parry. Imagine how much longer fights would take if it was added back. Saying V1 was more skillful is true, but V1 was also way more passive than now, and that's factual. Missing parries had barely any punishment back then. If a good player focused purely on defense in Verse 1, he'd take forever to die.

It does counter aerial attacks though, it gives you invulnerability from them if you time it right, the uppercuts can just miss of you have a low range weapon
1 vent dodge and you're disabled from combo breaking and you're locked out of mantras? i mean, hey man, i think there should be like 2-3 vents at least

It’s because of this temp system giving people back temp for landing mantras and ether is just an illusion in most builds and might as well not exist if your using shadow so you can spam vent and mantras as much as you want WITH 0 PUNISHMENT
The new mechanics are good to add (like venting being a good evasive tool) however these mechanics are free with 0 punishment allowing for them to be easily abused especially with 6 erudition letting you spam vents as much as you want while having unlimited ether

Zero problems with venting, common evasive mechanic in fighting games. Parry cooldown was also needed for obvious reasons, fights go on for too long and it was WAY too easy to just negate every attack. Mixups should be important, but even that wouldn’t break trades because of zero parry cooldown. Some changes that need to happen. - Endlag on airswing (don’t let ppl use it as a better feint). - Patch back hits by making block 360 directional, with your posture being marginally weaker if back hit (Allows Arcwarder to keep its gimmicks) - Reading feints should always be punishable through M1 (Patch some heavy hyper armor cheese), it’s actually not worth it to immediately punish heavy users for feinting since their hyper armor can activate on swing.

ive been playing consistently since release and i guarantee the DAY this interview dropped nobody liked it, only good parts were tempo and uppercuts which were supposed to fix the need to eat frigid prisms every minute to get ether and at the same time a way to stop mages, and the uppercuts were good counters for aerial spammers. They both ended up causing more problems than solving them. As an addition nobody and i mean NOBODY at that time had a problem like that with parry trades, everyone was confused asl when they brought that up.
I want verse 1 combat but shit would have to be changed so much fundamentally because getting hit by something like bloodcurdle and not having a vent is insane

That’s how MODERN tempo could be fixed without reverting. But if you just reduce max tempo remove a few sources of tempo and reduce tempo gain a bit, suddenly it works! Dodging attacks giving tempo was an interesting talent, then it became a base mechanic, Undo that and tempo is better. Reduce base max tempo and it’s better. If I remember correctly there was a talent that made landing elemental matras give tempo, it needed like 40 of either int/wil/cha, it’s a base mechanic now. I remember hopping back on after a good several months cause I wanted to try bloodrend and being confused by the dissapearence of depths connection because it was unnecessary. Everything just was turned from a mid cost talent for mage builds to the default.
@Flyingendermiteoffun I think it had 65 elm requirement only no int req and it was called elemental rebound which gave you more tempo upon landing mantras. If I'm not wrong it used to be flamecharm exclusive lol.
I can see DeepWoken being a game that slowly but surely dies, just a crumbling shell of a corpse that barely even bothers to stay alive. But the devs WILL NOT let it die. Even if it’s out dated, constantly out paced and out done by other games that update less frequently, even if it locks out at 2K players on a good day, they won’t let it die. And it’s gonna stay that way, either until the devs decide they aren’t making enough money and it isn’t sustainable, or it’s hits 100 players because everyone realizes that the weekly updates are the same thing every week. Is it a good though, yeah, lots of doomed games are, but they’re doomed. They can try and crawl to the finish line of being completed, but that’s not how Roblox works. They can never be done, and they can never rest. They will grow and grow and grow and add more and more and more, or they will die. And they all die. No dev can keep up with the ravenous Roblox release schedule, no dev wants to keep up with it, so they just stop after a while. And their game stops doing well, plain and simple.

Idk if returning parry trades will help deeps pvp with lag nowadays. Even in like the start of verse 2 every person was a parry demon, but then with every update game became laggy to unplayable state, so like atleast they made it so pvp relies on ping less even tho its braindead

The clip he literally showed was Drag (people called him the best player at the time) in a comp fight where they were sweating like crazy. It's not comparable to you, no offense. In Verse 1, if a skilled player concentrated solely on defending, you could legit stall for minutes on end. It's obvious Rag did it because he was scared that everyone would get better and fights would slowly get more boring overtime. Players now are indeed much better than back then, so his suspicions were correct. The problem is the way he went about it.

Deepwoken is in it's late game stage. Conquest will be the last major update they drop before the games inevitable downfall. Then, they release Cursed Gear, and the cycle continues.

Nope, it’s the complete opposite. If we get the current deep to be close to v1, most of the new players will quit, because the game will go back to the way it was before, where things weren’t as easy and convenient as they are right now, something v2 players aren’t used to. Deep will go back to 2k-5k players, and to be honest, I don’t really care if this happens. We don’t want numbers, we want the game to be what it was meant to be in the first place

I think there's a video suggestion for separating Tempo & reservoir. I think it will fix quite a few problems.
That’s how MODERN tempo could be fixed without reverting. But if you just reduce max tempo remove a few sources of tempo and reduce tempo gain a bit, suddenly it works! Dodging attacks giving tempo was an interesting talent, then it became a base mechanic, Undo that and tempo is better. Reduce base max tempo and it’s better. If I remember correctly there was a talent that made landing elemental matras give tempo, it needed like 40 of either int/wil/cha, it’s a base mechanic now. I remember hopping back on after a good several months cause I wanted to try bloodrend and being confused by the dissapearence of depths connection because it was unnecessary. Everything just was turned from a mid cost talent for mage builds to the default.
@Flyingendermiteoffun I think it had 65 elm requirement only no int req and it was called elemental rebound which gave you more tempo upon landing mantras.
If I'm not wrong it used to be flamecharm exclusive lol.
Also when it became base kit it got nerfed a quite.
I can see DeepWoken being a game that slowly but surely dies, just a crumbling shell of a corpse that barely even bothers to stay alive.
But the devs WILL NOT let it die. Even if it’s out dated, constantly out paced and out done by other games that update less frequently, even if it locks out at 2K players on a good day, they won’t let it die.
And it’s gonna stay that way, either until the devs decide they aren’t making enough money and it isn’t sustainable, or it’s hits 100 players because everyone realizes that the weekly updates are the same thing every week.
Is it a good though, yeah, lots of doomed games are, but they’re doomed. They can try and crawl to the finish line of being completed, but that’s not how Roblox works. They can never be done, and they can never rest. They will grow and grow and grow and add more and more and more, or they will die. And they all die. No dev can keep up with the ravenous Roblox release schedule, no dev wants to keep up with it, so they just stop after a while. And their game stops doing well, plain and simple.

Idk if returning parry trades will help deeps pvp with lag nowadays. Even in like the start of verse 2 every person was a parry demon, but then with every update game became laggy to unplayable state, so like atleast they made it so pvp relies on ping less even tho its braindead

The clip he literally showed was Drag (people called him the best player at the time) in a comp fight where they were sweating like crazy. It's not comparable to you, no offense. In Verse 1, if a skilled player concentrated solely on defending, you could legit stall for minutes on end.
It's obvious Rag did it because he was scared that everyone would get better and fights would slowly get more boring overtime. Players now are indeed much better than back then, so his suspicions were correct. The problem is the way he went about it.

Deepwoken is in it's late game stage. Conquest will be the last major update they drop before the games inevitable downfall. Then, they release Cursed Gear, and the cycle continues.

Nope, it’s the complete opposite. If we get the current deep to be close to v1, most of the new players will quit, because the game will go back to the way it was before, where things weren’t as easy and convenient as they are right now, something v2 players aren’t used to. Deep will go back to 2k-5k players, and to be honest, I don’t really care if this happens. We don’t want numbers, we want the game to be what it was meant to be in the first place
