I've watched a few of these videos now, and hands down the person narrating this one is the one I enjoy the most. I'm watching to learn about glassblowing, and she does a fabulous job of keeping the audience engaged with all the details and knowledge she shares. Davide Salvadore is one of the greatest masters in the history of glass making. The Salvadore family extends far into the history and the founding of the Italian glass movement. A true Italian Master. To say he makes this look easy is an understatement. This is the result of multiple generations of glassblowing. Such a privilege to see.
I believe it would be a great addition to the videos if you could insert a picture of the finished piece at the end after the piece cooled of - so that the viewer nor only sees the making of the piece but also the final result.
Hi, thanks for your feedback - we absolutely try to show a shot of the piece out of the annealer, however unfortunately this piece got packed up and shipped out to the artist's studio for final coldworking before we had a chance to film it. Sorry about that!
I’ve always loved glass blowing from when I was very little. I always thought that these special people were magicians because of the beauty and wonderment of what they do. I think you are all magicians and I will always love your fine works. And that is for all glassblowers in the world. Thank you for your art and thank Corning for bringing it to the people. You rock Corning.
I could only dream of doing this my whole life. I wish I could ever get healthy enough to attend a show, I'd probably be an emotional wreck. How this comes together with vision, execution, teamwork, and the whole spirit of comradery in art, I don't think this is possible in any other medium, I've always been blown away with any glass work. Thanks for these videos.
you guys really need to pay attention to your comments. everyone wants to see the completed works at the end of the video or at least a link in the end where it can be viewed.
Hi, thanks for your feedback - yes, we absolutely try to show a shot of the final piece, however unfortunately this piece was packed up and shipped out to the artist's studio for final coldworking before we had a chance to film it. Sorry about that. If you'd like to see complete works by Davide he has many on his website www.davidesalvadore.com/works.html#, this one looks similar to the piece he's working on here www.davidesalvadore.com/pop/pop_vassel19.htm.
Great Demo! But...I'd like to see, how these big Murrini were made. In my mind, it demands a similar amount of work and skill like the final Artwork. Amazing.
Works in Poland in glassworks economic but such miracles as these friends are doing it, I have not widziałem.Nice job I can and I will ever be able to do something like this :)
Please review material on heavy metal leeching from lead glass/crystal. It does indeed leech into food and drink but at a gradually decreasing rate so there's some theory to 'seasoning' the glass. Anyways, I'm no expert myself which is why I come to cmog so please don't spread bum information. Awesome demo, of course, and you guys rock. Please continue to do so.
Are you asking about 18:10? The pattern is made up of glass murrine - it's heated to be applied to the bubble of glass. Here are two short videos that explain more about murrine th-cam.com/video/iG1LnlccCmM/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/beEAsBf7d_o/w-d-xo.html. Thanks for watching!
I'm no gaffer but I think the piece would have been much more beautiful if he hadn't done all that shaping work. Call me old-fashioned but if it's a vase and needs to be round.

Meg was the best commentator I've listened to for a glass demo. Great job!

I'm sure someone has the end result picture of it. Any way to add it to this video or make a 1 minuted video with it included.
aaaaaaaaaaaand could be 360° images ;)

We really want to see the results
I too would like to see the end result. I enjoyed watching the process though. Very interesting!!!

*37:00** When he added water and then it went back into the furnace. My heart skipped a beat. Very good demo.*

Thanks for watching! Bill is still here working at The Studio and preparing to teach this winter and summer.
@@corningmuseumofglass - Great to know. I love his videos and his work. Thanks!
Please please please contact Mr Salvadore for a picture of the finished piece!

It's called the Leidenfrost effect, not Lindenfrost. Just in case someone is curious and wants to look it up. I'm sure she just misspoke :-)

anyone can look up davide salvidore on google if they want a look at the finished piece.
"Re-heating furnace" are we not allowed to use the G word?
Bryson DeJong never the g word
What word is that..? txs...
glory glory hallelujah!
glory hole
Haha... i see..! Really funny...!
Oi eu queria saber qual a madeira que vcs usam para fazer esse ferramenta para modelar o vidro e o nome dessa ferramenta
great narrator
Im hooked 😀
where is the finished piece/
I’m such a fan
Thanks for watching!
really cool video
That piece looks heavy, are any of those rods counter weighted so it's a little easier to handle?
No counter weights, they just get heavy!
What a different attitude to Lino and Pino.. !!!
I like pink and blue and green glass
Amazing.
There is never a finished piece shot.
what is the material of the red pattern template? How did it bend along the surface of the molten glass?
Are you asking about 18:10? The pattern is made up of glass murrine - it's heated to be applied to the bubble of glass. Here are two short videos that explain more about murrine th-cam.com/video/iG1LnlccCmM/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/beEAsBf7d_o/w-d-xo.html. Thanks for watching!
Corning Museum of Glass Yes, that part. Thanks for responding! The videos are amazing. Thanks for posting them. They inspire me to learn glass work.
Great, glad to help! And if you're interested in murrine, there are more videos with Davide on our channel. Enjoy!
they didnt show the finished piece!!! i feel cheated
Capolavoro Davide. e che figo Marco!
Has an image of the finished piece been published?
Unfortunately we don't have a photo of the finished piece, but you can see Davide's works on his website www.davidesalvadore.com/works.html#
What is the value of the finished piece?!
Hi Lisa, because of the Museum's non-profit status, I'm not able to comment on the value of a piece. Thanks for watching!
Why can no American pronounce Leidenfrost Effect correct?
i love the announcer she loves this shit
59:22 Taglio means a cut or i cut not a 300$ spatula :D
What is this supposed to be.
can yous makes me a birthday one
omg
that one guy was putting in work
A good commentary should have light and shade - knowing when to stop speaking and letting the pictures tell the story.
Found the piece online for those also looking for it.
the world is amphitheatre, not ampitheatre
the madman.... using his hand without protection :D
.
NOT ENOUGH OF THE FINISHED OBJECT! We want at least 3-5 mins of SLOW shots of the end result! After 2+hrs, 5 mins is NOT too much to ask!
I'm no gaffer but I think the piece would have been much more beautiful if he hadn't done all that shaping work. Call me old-fashioned but if it's a vase and needs to be round.
pretty lame not to show final results :S

I do feel that people yelling don't take it seriously enough. Just dumb people
what the hell is she going on about the baby and a crazy teenager lol.
These guys don't pay attention at all.
why is she saying people got cheap taste if they like green lmao rude af
Because iron oxide (rust) is a cheap material where as gold chloride isn't. It's a joke.
what the hell is she going on about the baby and a crazy teenager lol.
