David, you leave quite an impression. I saw this video about two years ago, well before I even had my first Festool tool. Since then, the dogs were let loose. Now after using my MFT for a bit I realize the common dogs aren’t cutting it and I’d remembered seeing one of your videos about a “Parf dog” or something. So, I came back to your site and sure enough I found this video you did about the Parf Super Dogs. So, I bought three of them and the cutter and the clips. They are amazing, great advice, love your site. Keep up the wonderful work you do for us, it is greatly appreciated!

This is a great system, I have followed Peter for some time. You both do a great job in bring ideas into the work shop.
The system makes you re think do I need to set up the table saw. When the piece of board is big it's easier this way.

That is the whole point of the track saw system, it,s known as the dead wood concept, where you take the tool to the wood rather than the other way round, i.e., it's easier to move a small guided skill saw than manoeuvre an 8x4 sheet.
...Until you use a Martin Slider or have 30 sheets to cut...
I bought 5 of the super dogs and the only thing I regret is not buying the chamfer tool. Tip: Buy the chamfer tool :)

I would appreciate hearing from Dave or others whether other brands of tracksaw (corded or cordless) also adequately clear the Superdog.
Regarding this, I just saw a review of the new Makita 40V track saw. It appears to be quite narrow; I suspect it would not hit a bench dog of any height. Can anyone confirm this?
Cool video. But let's forget that a 'chamfering tool' is not the only way to get a chamfer. I did mine with a router and a chamfer bit ...

I have seen the video of the UJK Parf Superdogs, on the Axminster Website here in the UK seeing as they are also made here. UJK also do some good stuff themselves, i buy their Pocket Hole Screws as they have a Torx head instead of the Square/Robertsons head.

just saw this video, Dave. I received two of the dogs today along with the chamfer tool. I already have 4 of the original parf dogs so the plan is two use the shorter two of those for the workpiece support side and the super dogs for the cutting side. If it gets unwieldy, I'll get the 3rd Super dog. These look like fantastic devices!
They work as displayed. I'm not a fan of the chamfer tool as there is a lot of tear out on ply, not so bad with mdf.
@@DavidStanton That was definitely something they mentioned about not using the chamfer tool on ply. I have two MFT's I use so that's not an issue. I like the idea that it makes the dog stand perfectly vertical. It's a very ingenious tool!
Now TSO Products here in the US, and probably Axminister in the UK sell a reamer tool. I don't know how well it works, I only saw three reviews on the site. I am going to take a chance and give it a try though.

You made a comment about you finding the super dogs tighter in MDF than with plywood. I use a woodpecker jig for making my 20mm holes which works for me. I did note in the guide for using said jig that it was best to bore holes in MDF in a second pass because the MDF heats up as this system is done with a router the second pass ensures the hole is back to 20mm rather than maybe a few thou through this hearing up. Sorry to be so long winded just needed it totally clear what I was explains

Thanks for watching Trevor. I thought I had commented that the holes were more accurate in MDF and ply was the tricky one? Not to worry, good to hear of a solution either way!
Have you found that using the woodpeckers jig that over the sheet, the jig won't line up after a while or starts to become sloppy? I have the jig and after I complete a row or two my jig is either too tight or misaligned to fit all 3 locating pins or its so loose that the router moves the jig when i make the circular motions. Any tips?

Hi Dave. I bought the super dogs and chamfer tool but they won’t fit in the holes I drilled with UJK parf system. Then I ordered the reamer and it reamed the first three holes fine and then I couldn’t get the reamer out of the hole. Whats the secret to reaming the holes to fit? Thanks for you Videos and your time to share helpful Ideas.
Hi Charles. I don't have the reemer yet, but my suggestion would be to clean the sawdust out of the vertical cutters after every hole.
@@DavidStanton I do that. My cutter is exactly the same as the reamer. I’m finding that as the reamer gets hot ,witch doesn’t take long it seems to get better. But man does it get hot🔥.
HI Dave. Thanks for the illuminating demo. I had the same issue (of extreme tightness) when using MDF and thought it must have been me. Since watching this video I have tried on 19mm ply and found the insertion and extraction of the Super Parf dogs much easier. Hopefully one of your more astute viewers may be able to explain why when using exactly the same drill and methodology, a hole in MDF has much tighter tolerances than that of equivalent thickness ply ?
Hi Martin. Thanks for the comment! I think it comes down to moisture and swelling of the fibres in the holes is more pronounced in MDF than it is with ply. There are now many different forms of MDF available so maybe we wait to see if someone with more time available than I have gives it a try?
Been looking at the TSO jig for making a few tables for my shop and on site but have not pulled the trigger cause i am having a hard time finding 20mm dogs for the system. The TSO ones are nice and would get some for the shop but would like to get many for multiple tables and to store in the Vehicle but TSO are so expensive and i am having a hard time finding 20 mm ones online. 3/4 ones are everywhere to be found.
I notice you’re using the chamfering tool on plywood, but they specify it’s only for mdf surfaces. I figure this is due to potential chipping. Have you seen much chip out while using it?
Hi Tom. I think that Axminster are trying to avoid claims of tear out. I had minimal tear out on the ply but nothing to concern me. Obviously a router spinning at 22,000 rpm will deliver a neater hole. Lets remember this is a work bench, not the dining room table.
Those dogs are the cat's pants.... I now have a litter of then... Approx 10min into the video, try inserting from below on your bench and see the difference...
Dave great video! What’s the name of the smaller part dog. Can I order it in America. I have a new 55 Tracy saw which has yet to make a single cut and would like to match it up with the shorter of the two part dogs to make my cross cuts in 3/4” plywood. Have yet to learn the lingo for mm sorry.
You can buy some dogs from Lee Valley in the USA or you can order fromAxminster in the UK. I just got an order from them last week and I am in North Carolina. No harder or more expensive than buying in the USA.
Late to the party, but TSO products (Ft. Myers , Fl.) carries the Parf system, as well as all the dogs. Nor sure if Lee Valley carries the Guide Rail Squares, but TSO does. Gotta go empty my spare change jars and go shopping!
The super dogs are a great idea but are costly, if you have the original dogs and don't want them to foul the saw motor simply insert it from underneath this reduces the height of the dog.

Love your video's but with this one I have some issues. The length of the DOG is a "problem"! You say it correct, it is relative to the thickness of the material you want to cut but that means that thinner material (in fact I cannot cut "standard" MDF 18/19mm) will cause the saw to bump onto the DOG. I feel that 18/19 mm should have been allowed by the DOG. I realise that making it shorter limits the thickness at the max........ but I expect to cut thinner materials more often.
Secondly I see you using the chamfer on plywood, you say it is "sort of OK" but with my (probably cheaper) plywood large sections "breakout". You are right when you say its only a workbench but hey, then why would you wax it ..... If I would not have seen this video I would have bought the normal "DOG"s that would save me two "issues"......

1st of your 2 issues. I try to have around 5 mm of the blade protruding through the piece I am cutting when I use my track saw. If the piece is 18mm thick then my blade depth will be set 18 + 5 + track thickness which is usually 5 mm. So I set depth to a total of 28 mm. I tested this today after your comment and found the saw's motor does not bump the dog. Are you not setting the depth of cut?
2nd issue. A router or trimmer with a 45 degree chamfer bit would give a cleaner cut on plywood, but it is turning at 20,000 plus rpm.
I do not have the REBQ, mine is the model prior. Maybe there is a slight difference? One thing you can do is remove the 45 degree flange and set that one superdog down a few more millimetres into the dog hole. I hope this helps.
Hi Dave, i watched your video after purging de parf super dogs. No I have a problem with it. My Ts55 is bumping to the super dogs when I make a cut. I tried to on 12mm plywood en 18mm plywood both the same problem. In your video you say your do 4 mm trough the thickness of the material. I’m doing less, is that the problem or am I doing something wrong? Greetings and thanks for your great videos by the way!

@@martijnvanderveek7924 dat blijft een beetje. Ik moet wel bekennen dan het nu geen probleem meer is nu ik een grotere zaagtafel gebruik.
@@MRvanI1976 ja als ie lekker breed is zul je er minder snel tegenaan lopen inderdaad. Helaas is de mijne dat niet. Je kunt natuurlijk altijd nog een stuk materiaal onder het hout leggen, kom je hoger uit en zul je er geen last van hebben ga ik vanuit.

2 across the rear of the bench and 1 towards the front. The middle one acts as both rear of track support and right hand rear of timber to be cut support.

Probably less expensive for sure, but the dogs are a tool you can use over and over too. I think the idea Dave is holding to is the small footprint of his bench and making it very versatile in the small footprint...not growing the footprint. I just finished the holes (108) in a 600 by 1800mm bench top. I don't plan on cutting into that bench but could do some cutting off the edge with the cut line parallel to the bench front. Between Dave and Peter there are a lot of great ideas...
