Just got my 15 a7 I am planning on doing the grille swap as my first mod and want to save some money by doing the swap myself got any other tips for me?
Also got my grille from them. For a 2017 S6 I didn't need to trim anything. About the only time I was very happy to have no other tech in front besides parking sensors. Didn't need to remove the parking sensors from any housing or anything wild. They were a bitch to get out initially tho.
Thanks, this video helped for a 2017 s6. Got this done today only just. Finding the right place to jack it up so I could put jackstands on the proper side skirt points was hard. Used a point parallel to the back of the front wheel that was the base of the control arm or cross-member (not sure), didn't remove any bottom cover stuff. Also those grille tabs were a total bitch. Only started coming off when I pushed them away on the backside with a trim tool while someone was pulling on the front. Also so many god damn screws on the back of that thing, T25 wasn't working for shit there either, had to use a hex wrench. T25 everywhere else, the grille screws totally had the torx pattern on the head but just wanted to strip. Only have parking sensors so didn't disconnect the battery and got no codes. Surprisingly the deep 10mm which I expected to be the hardest was super "easy" to get back in.
Great video man - just used this for reference to install mine, everything exactly as you stated. Not going to say I overly cared for cutting and dealing with the camera mount, but we do what we gotta do. I ended up getting the back plate bolted on, as well as re-using the OEM rounded front and custom cutting/fitting it. Looks great now except how far out it sticks (plus painted it gloss black to match grill) lol.
No jacking up the car or front wheels required to remove if you have digital inspection cable camera or your phone to hunt the deep 10mm bolt. Also no zip ties needed. It's important to start uncliping the grille from the bottom. Also side 10mm bolts doesn't need to be removed all the way, just loosened.
If your grill has never been removed before, the zip ties will be very useful. And having up the font of the car will make the entire job a lot easier overall, but if you don't want to do all that then that's up to you 👍🏻
I did it yesterday without zip ties and jacking up the vehicle/removing front wheels. In my opinion, the job was easier avoiding these two steps. However, your video is extremely helpful, I would've done the job without it. Thanks for your vid!
No problem! Your car could have had the grill removed or worked on in the past as well if your aren't the first owner. I tried removing mine without the zip ties first and there was no way it would have worked haha.
Great video was able to do it myself but a day later my ACC and braking guard went out ): not sure if it was something not being plugged back in correctly, haven’t had time to check but got the same grille and didn’t hold up so well especially where the parking sensor holds ended up breaking off so now they just sit on the floor of the bumper inside. its a great looking grille but wish it was a little stronger
Mine has held up extremely well. Everything has fit nice and tight without issues. You could have messed up the alignment with the camera's and what not if you hit them or didn't get them plugged in correctly, but hopefully it is something simple for you.
Audi C7 Owners International even where the grille holds the badge it wasn’t cut off properly so the grille wouldn’t allow the badges clips to go in and hold so I was thinking of trying from here german-car-accessories.com/products/2012-2015-audi-rs6-honeycomb-grill-with-lower-mesh-c7-a6-s6?variant=35034688684188 since it got broken even more when someone ran over a tire on the highway and hit me

Hey man! Yes this grill will fit. You have a C7 which is the pre-facelift like my car. The c7.5 is slightly different. You just have to get the grille with the correct options. For example, my car has the ACC sensors, front parking camera, and night vision camera. Buy the grille that is built of the options you have on car 👍🏻. Hope that helps.

My bumper and grill were busted by a deer Sunday. My question is: when the bumper is removed for repainting/replacement, will the distance sensors being removed cause it to need recalibrated if the battery is disabled? None of my sensors were damaged and I’m afraid to let the local body shop do anything that will mess them up. This is my third animal impact in this car. I have had so much trouble with my ACC going out because of poor work getting everything back where it belongs. I’m 2.5 hours from an Audi shop and am trying to avoid that drive. Thanks

@@AudiC7Owners I looked for a video for placing a front jack stand and couldn't find one. Where did you place that front jack stand in this video? Looks to be behind the jack point since your jack is on the jack point.

I really enjoyed watching your install video, man I wished you lived closer I’d pay you major bucks to put it in!, however I have one question if you could it answer for me… I am not a DIY’er so I will need to have this installed. You stated that you had to make the hole larger for the Night Vision Camera, and that has me a bit concerned that the installer may screw it up, I do not have Night Vision, but I do have a front parking camera. so my question is are these the same thing or do I have nothing to worry about. The place where I bought the Grill did have an option for “Front Camera”…
At 3:16, that vertical torx screw that is long, can anyone tell me what that white (im guessing grommet) nut or thing that torx is screw into is called, tried finding it everywhere since I over tightened mine.
Great video. Just picked up my A6 have the same features night vision n front camera. What did you end up doing for front camera I’m looking at getting this style grill soon. Thanks looking forward to more videos.
Honestly I just cut out the back of the grill so I could mount the front camera to it and that's it. I never retrofitted the front piece because it would have been nearly impossible and you really don't need to. It's not very noticeable. Good luck on your install!
Thanks man! And yes, If you don't have the front parking camera life will be a lot easier for you! Let us know how it goes, and let us know if the video helps you out or needs something added 👍🏻
Nothing happens with the unplugging the battery completly from the car? I heard something that you need to take the car to dealer to reprogram the car Bc it won’t start after unplugging the battery?
This is a great walkthrough, man. I’m attempting this on my 2.0T after work. I’m sure it will be the same process minus night vision, front parking camera, and washer lines. Someone on the forums told me this can also be done by not taking off the front wheels and just turning the tire in while working on each respective side. I’m going to attempt this first and see if that works. When you went to reinstall the bumper, did the bumper clip back into place to allow the hardware to be reinstalled?
I’ve got an C7 A7 and I’m looking for a RS style grill with night vision like yours. I looked for your seller’s name on eBay but looks like they don’t exist anymore unless I’m typing something in wrong. Any idea of a company or seller that may sell a similar grill to yours? Thank you so much for this video! Helped me alot! Changing the grille on my S6 c7,5 took 8(!!!) Hours... but completely worth it! The hardest part for me was getting the old grille out of the bumper, it did not want to come out😂 I used your zip tie method and that made it much easier, but it was a bit hard to see exactly where you placed the zip ties in the video, but i figured it out in the end. There was also a gray piece of styrofoam covering the entire crash bar behind the grille, i tried to put this back on but you could clearly see it through the new rs grille so i just removed it. I don't know. I've never installed night vision on a car that didn't come with it
Did the grill specifically come with the night vision bracket?
You move your bracket from your oem grille to this one, but it was designed to be a direct bolt on for the NV
Im watching this to figure out R&I's for bumper repaint. I could be wrong but that sounds like the guy from the Refinish Network?
You mean the voice in the video? If so, it not lol.
Great video. Helped me find the hidden bolt holding on the bumper I couldn’t find.
Why not take off the 4 13mm bolts that hold the crash bar in place and mask off nothing?
Where did you buy yours?
What kind of bolts are on the original bumpers I’m missing mine and I wanna know what kind of bolts they are
What is the box to the right of the night vision camera with the white label?
To be honest I'm not exactly sure... I assume it has something to do with the NV system.
@@AudiC7Owners turns out its the homelink and that information is rather hard to come by lol thanks though
Nice! How did you figure that out
Just one question. Can i remove headlight without removing bumper?
No
Just wondering if you have any tips or advice on how to remove the lower front spoiler without removing the front bumper?
These bumpers don't have front spoilers from factory. If yours has one, then it is aftermarket & is likely held on by screws & double sided tape.
Just out of curiosity as this will be my first time lifting it up. Where exactly did you place the jack stands as there is a lot of plastic down there?
We actually have a video on that too if you browse through them.
@@AudiC7Owners I looked for a video for placing a front jack stand and couldn't find one. Where did you place that front jack stand in this video? Looks to be behind the jack point since your jack is on the jack point.
th-cam.com/video/0skA234cn2Y/w-d-xo.html
Where are you putting that jack stand? I cant anywhere to put it since the lift point has the jack
We have a video about that as well. Look for our wheel spacer video
Is there anyway to remove the Audi rings from the grill without removing the entire front bumper?
You can pry it out carefully
Hi would facelift grill/ bumper fit pre facelift grill (c7 vs c7.5)
You would also have to change fenders & headlights
great job. how many hrs in total?
Probably about 4 hours having never done it before
If my a6 3.0t has neither vision or front camera will I have to disconnect that wiring and battery or will it be fine?
To remove the bumper you will have to remove any wiring connected to it
Hi man , my question is , does all audis from 2011 to 2018 ar all hte same >? cause ebay states that grills start from 2012 to 2014 etc.. but it dosnt mention anywhere 2011 cars.. so im confused
No. In 2015 there was a face-lift which we refer to as C7.5's. 2011 was the last year of the C6's. The C7's were introduced in europe in 2011
@@AudiC7Owners But my audi looks like c7 its not c6 its c7 it was manufactured in end of 2011 thats why im confused
Then you have a C7
@@AudiC7Owners so than all the models fron 2011 to 2014 share the same grill and grill fittings i assume
No. Some A6 models in 2011 are C6's.in the USA, all 2011 models are C6's
I really enjoyed watching your install video, man I wished you lived closer I’d pay you major bucks to put it in!, however I have one question if you could it answer for me…
I am not a DIY’er so I will need to have this installed.
Honestly you need to take the grill to your installer & see what they think you need to have done.
Hello is it possible to do this to an 06 Audi A6 and if so what year bumper would I need to purchase? Thanks for the help
I honestly have no idea. That is a completely different generation of car.
@@AudiC7Owners Okay I figured that but I was hoping my search would be a bit easier thank you anyway
Thank you for the informative video!
Was that Chiodos playing in the background at some point ??
More than likely. Love your GY!BE avatar 🤘🏻. I used to play drums for a post rock band.
@@AudiC7Owners Thank you, Godspeed was one of the first bands that got me obsessed with post rock .
You will hear a lot of post rock in the background of my videos. My video on doing control arms has Jakob playing the entire time practically.
Got my grill installed. How's your crash bar paint holding up?
Pretty well. I've re-sprayed it one time.
Was wondering if an S7 diffuser would fit on the a7 pre facelift s line?
As long as the S7 is also pre-facelift then you should have no problems.
PLEASEEEE MAKE MORE VIDEOS. Thanks lol
Just finished moving into my new house with a bigger garage. New videos are coming soon 👌🏻😂
Is there an other alternative where I don't have to do anything for the camera (sorry for my bad English)
You would just need to skip the steps that involve the cameras.
@@AudiC7Owners My problem is that I have a camera, but I don't feel like cutting a hole for the camera because I can't do that
Then you will have to hire someone to do it because you can't install it otherwise. Unless you want to get rid of your camera.
@@AudiC7Owners okay , thank you very much
Why is the channel not got many subscribers??
It's a new channel. I'm happy with the way it's progressing. I just hope the videos help people.
@@AudiC7Owners well, you have yourself a subscriber! Your video was the most informative I've yet to see. Thank you. I hope it goes well for you!
Much appreciated!
At 3:16, that vertical torx screw that is long, can anyone tell me what that white (im guessing grommet) nut or thing that torx is screw into is called, tried finding it everywhere since I over tightened mine.
I'm not sure what it is called but you should be able to easily find one in the junk yard on any vw/audi
@@AudiC7Owners Is there a wrong way to install the front camera? Like if I have it flipped will it be upside down? Thanks
@michael Lawrence Yes... Your wiring harness only plugs in one way, so your camera must be aligned correctly.
realy nice vid gonna do this on mine too hopefully i can skip alot of steps couse i only have parking sensors in mine and the headlight washer
Thanks man! And yes, If you don't have the front parking camera life will be a lot easier for you! Let us know how it goes, and let us know if the video helps you out or needs something added 👍🏻
Yeah!! I’m in the same boat. Should be a lot easier.
Do you need to recalibrate any sensors or anything like that since bumper came off?
Did you watch the entire video?
@@AudiC7Owners yes but I didn't see you mention about it but I've seen on forums that some people say you need to
I mention in this video to disconnect the battery & leave everything off until reconnected so you don't have to recalibrate anything.
Any idea where I can get some aftermarket audi rs7 fog light grill inserts? One came off new one is $340. I see alot for rs5 and rs6
Maybe try to call autohaas or lifetime Audi
@@AudiC7Owners your the man. Keep up the good content 👌🏽
Hello, good video...where did you get your grill from?
StoneCarbon2009 on Ebay
Sound isn’t right left balanced just an FYI. The right sound is garbled
I know about the balance issue (first video I've ever made) but there is no garble sound on my end.
Nothing happens with the unplugging the battery completly from the car? I heard something that you need to take the car to dealer to reprogram the car Bc it won’t start after unplugging the battery?
That is incorrect. Unplugging the battery is perfectly safe
Are there also two 10mm bolts on the drivers side?
Each side is the same
@@AudiC7Owners also do you think you needed a screwdriver to help separate the grille from the bumper if you had taken off the the two screws?
Be careful using a screwdriver as that can damage the parts easily.
@@AudiC7Owners so just use a trim tool?
And zip ties to help
This is a great walkthrough, man. I’m attempting this on my 2.0T after work. I’m sure it will be the same process minus night vision, front parking camera, and washer lines.
Someone on the forums told me this can also be done by not taking off the front wheels and just turning the tire in while working on each respective side. I’m going to attempt this first and see if that works.
When you went to reinstall the bumper, did the bumper clip back into place to allow the hardware to be reinstalled?
You can do it without removing the wheels. For me it was just easier to do it that way.
And everything went back into place perfectly.
Hey do you have a link? Awesome vid btw helps a lot
Just google "StoneCarbon2009 Ebay Store" and check out what he has available.
You should do a video on changing the spark plugs. I have a 2016 Audi A7, and we both have the same engine.
That will actually be one of our next videos
Audi C7 Owners International Sweer, please be sure to mention how much Lb of torque for the spark plugs , thank you
@@thewiseguy7100 We will cover all of that
Thank you for the informative video 🙏
Thank you for the support!

Thanks man 🤙🏻
if i’m getting a silver rs grille do u think I still need to paint the crash bar black or will it kinda like camouflage?
The honeycomb is silver?
@@AudiC7Owners Yessir
@@AudiC7Owners I really appreciate the response btw bro
If the honeycomb is silver I might not paint the crash bar
Would it be the same for an S7?
It would be very similar. The S-cars may have a bumper tab that needs to be trimmed for correct fitment.
Will do and thanks again!!
Will all A6s needed to be painted??
Painted?
@@AudiC7Owners the crash bar... the silver bar behind the grille.
Oh! Yes if you are putting a honeycomb grille on. It's not required, but it looks better so you don't see a silver bar behind the grille
@@AudiC7Owners it comes silver not black??
My heat exchanger is black. Is yours silver?
the last screw on the rat box was long or short
Hey do you have a link for the grille?
Check out www.canautoperformance.com

Ciao. Dove hai comperato la griglia?

Can you provide the link to get the grill?
These days I suggest you check out Canadian Auto Performance. Their grilles are excellent.
I’ve got an C7 A7 and I’m looking for a RS style grill with night vision like yours. I looked for your seller’s name on eBay but looks like they don’t exist anymore unless I’m typing something in wrong. Any idea of a company or seller that may sell a similar grill to yours? Most that I’ve seen just have mess within the Audi rings instead of the backing plate.
Here you go. If they don't have what you want send them a message

you have to take bumper off? i don got all them sensors only 2

You can try to do it without removing the bumper, but it's a bitch to do. Taking the bumper off takes 20 mins tops
how do i get the the sensor to stay in
Which sensor?
Would this also work for 2017 A7?? same steps?
It would be very similar, but not exactly the same. But the same basic steps should apply.
why does he only talk into the left side of the mic, i dont hear his voice on the right

good luck fixing it! Looking forward to the content.
After remove the bumper, did you have problems with the ACC ? Any defaults?
Great vid, I hope you do more.
Thanks man! I have plans for a few more smaller videos that people will hopefully find useful. We are going to do one on how to hardwire a radar detector, how to install puddle lights, and hopefully one on how to apply headlight vinyl.
Sounds good, looking forward to the new vids. I'm going to link this vid to a post on the AudiWorld forums. Many people would like to know how to change that grill.
@@erikbraxton5399 Go for it! I posted a thread on Audiworld including it as well, but feel free to post it anywhere people need help.
how would you retrofit parking sensors into the grille?
I wouldn't. I'd buy a grille made for a car with parking sensors. They have to be aligned correctly.
@@AudiC7Owners where could I find something like that
Canadian Auto Performance has them
Thank you so much for this video! Do you know if it has any purpose?
Glad the video helped! You don't need that foam so I'd just put it away for safe keeping
Great! Thank you! :)
I have a C7 S6 as well and am going to change my grill as the OEM chrome is bubbling. Was the process from the A6 in this video the exact same?
@@LetsDIYIt yes it should be the same👍 Mine was the same except for two bolts behind the front bumper that was different to get to because i have the c7,5. Other than that, 100% like the video! If you have a c7 s6 and not c7,5 then everything should be the same as the video!
@@ProLexHD Thank you. Yeah, I have a C7 S6 (2013). I appreciate your reply.
