The 400 and 450 sound like modern day diesels idling. The MD is a beast of its own sound. Nice to see the difference.

Similar, but not quite. Because these are all indirect injection they have a little bit more of that rattly diesel knock that an otherwise direct injection wouldnt. I really need to get a better mic setup for next time to really try and capture the sound you hear in person

oddly convenient video for me! Currently looking at buying either a MD or a 400 and sound is something good to know!

Well I apologize that the audio isnt better. To keep the mice out I pull the sheet metal off before I leave home and when I put it back on I didnt put the fasteners in, which caused a lot of background vibration noises. But if theres anything I can help with, let me know

@@reeseholler92 I’ll be sure to ask if I run into something seems like you’re the MD master! I’ve watched all your other MD and 400 videos all very helpful.

All you need now is a Super MD, Super MD-TA, MDV, Super MDV, and 350 Diesel (which is my favorite since its a straight diesel start) plus the WD's

The only ones I don't have out of that lineup are the high crops. My 350 is a little rough around the engines, the engine is pretty tired, but still runs pretty good. I agree, it is a pretty unique machine

@@reeseholler92 I just finished watching your 350D video, yeah it is pretty cool how they used a Continental diesel and not their own. I hope to find an MDV but they don't come very cheap lol

@@copperhead6132 I missed one years ago. A pair to make one good one. 1500 bucks I think? But a finite resource called money prevented that

@@reeseholler92 That's a good deal! Money does prevent a lot of things, I have learned that the hard way lol

@@reeseholler92 The high crops would really complete any collection.

Why did Formal only have these gas start, stench to diesel? Oliver already had direct start diesel. Just wondering. Great videos BTW!

Some great sounding machines. I would love to have a Stage 2 Super MD... I have no need for an M-TA, even though it would be a real honey of a tractor. Great video with great sound comparisons!

How much is a good 400 or 450 diesel going for? I'm looking for one to pull a baler because I won't have my MD together in time.

I'd still say anywhere from 1500 to 6500 if it has rebuilt engine, pump etc. I havent bought one yet where I didn't have to put work into it to get it running. So mine have always been cheaper. If I showed up and it was started upon arrival I'd be willing to put a little more towards it . Good time to test the condition of the ta as well, that's a grand right there.
