HL was a great cinematic shooter, btw imho it started an era in which gamers wanted to have more cinematic experiences instead of simply having fun, nowadays I think we were too enthusiastic about that. If I want to play a retro game right now I’d play a boomer shooter like doom, quake, blood...not HL.

Another great retro game is Urban Chaos (1999). You guys know that as well? The first game I bought back in 1999 with my own money as a kid. UC and Revolt are my two ultimate childhood games!

Check the RVGL Project and see for yourself. ;) Btw, this Steam version, other than being a far inferior version of current RVGL, is just a cash grab from a Korean company that has blatantly used community made code without permission on their GOG release. Not to mention it aims to (somehow) introduce NFTs to the game. Just not worth anyone's money mate.

Ghost Town 2 and Museum 1 are brutal. I remember I had to retry that last championship soo many times because of the debris the track and the uneven surface that can screw your race up in seconds. Eventually resorting in me just making my first mod vehicle of the game to beat it.

@@KatSuYeah RVGL and GameRanger are two different things. GameRanger is multiplayer lobby for older games. Re-Volt is one of many games supported. RVGL is just Re-Volt, but rewritten + it's using open-source libraries. It works like Hamachi, but it's simplier
There is a way to do a turbo start, you need to press the acceleration key while the "1" appears. It will not be a mario kart super effect, but you'll feel a tiny boost.

Personally the dreamcast version is better the graphics are excellent the gameplay is great and is the best mario kart/wipeot like game ever of his time the demo was nice despite is limited playability
Did the game always have soundtracks ? Even though the music wasn't muted, I didn't hear any but sound effects by the time I played that childhood race game on my pc. I'm glad that I finally found it and played it on my laptop. I wasn't a big fan of race games but I loved those aesthetic cars as a kid. Oh wow, 4k here ? I can run the game at 30 fps only, sometimes 31 or 32 fps.
