    what preparation was done to the old crazy paved steps and patio areas before the new resin was layed on top???

    • @ResinBoundPaving
      @ResinBoundPaving  7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thank you for your enquiry, The preparation of patio in the video above consisted of power washing down with a high powered pressure washer to remove dirt, dust, and any contamination that may have been present. In this instance the patio was in sound solid condition with no movement of lifting of the existing slabs. Neither was laying water am issue so no bore holes were needed to be drilled. The area was them primed with SUDwell Primer and allowed to cure. Mixing of the kits was undertaken by the use of a powerful mortar drill, and the kits were laid as seen in the video.
      In some circumstances, if standing water is an issue, it would be recommended that a dozen or so bore holes are drilled into the substrate that you are applying the kits to.

      Hi i have a similar old looking patio that i think will greatly benefit from covering with your product, can you firstly tell me if the sudwell resin bound kits come in just this color ? and secondly where can i purchase them, also my Patio is 62 m2 and if i do my path as well the total area will be 92 m2...is there any discount offered for this quantity.
      Thanks in advance
      David.

    Without using a rebar framework this will most likely crack either from mechanical loading or expansion and contraction from temperature seasonal changes.

    • @samjohnson1257
      @samjohnson1257 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe not because the resin acts like a compression/expansion joint between each stone. I would think it might chip out over time, though. Stones come loose, chip out.

    so if it's permeable , why lay it on a non permeable base , you raised the steps with brickwork,no for the water to escape ?

    • @stokeyvillian
      @stokeyvillian 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darren Watters the resin hardens and becomes water tight.

    • @garystone7002
      @garystone7002 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Jonty jt no it does not, resin bound is permeable so the water would sit under the resin and eventually blow. And as for using in rain 🤔 , damn sure I would not lay any polyurethane system in the rain.

      Once mixed you have around 30 mins working time with SUDwell All-Weather Resin or around 15 mins with standard resin.

    How do you prepare the area so you it is 15mm below the border (if isn't already)? If you have a crazy patio area that you want to cover that is flush with surrounding brickwork what can you do to create a 15mm drop? Taking out the crazy patio (a lot of work) would leave a drop of over 30mm. So, what...? Put twice as much gravel/resin in?

      James Backler Resin Bound screed should always be made using Polyurethane Resin; this is due to its flexibility compared to Epoxy, which makes it considerably better suited for use as a permeable, external surface that has to deal with harsh weather throughout the year.
      We've been manufacturing, supplying and installing our own Resin Bound systems for many years.
