    I highly suggest starting with Looxi if they are in stock. They have some GORGEOUS shadows, several neutral or more wearable, for THREE DOLLARS. If you don’t like one, you’re not losing much, and you can figure out what you like/don’t like.
    Definitely don’t start with black-based multichromes with bright shifts like I did. They are hard to work with and just aren’t wearable for me.

    Okay hear me out. I think a video that a LOT of people would find useful would be like a “roundup of smooth, sheeny, small particle sized, beginner friendly texture, indie single shadows” (lol I’m sure you can come up with a better way to say this)
    I’ve watched most of your videos and you often mention shades with this type of formula (I try to screenshot them but I have adhd so I don’t know what my old screenshots mean). I think you’ve even said that some brands do this style of formula more often too, but I can’t remember which.
    This video is the closest thing I could find to a roundup, but I think like 50% of them you said have a more sparkly finish/medium particle size.
    Bottom line: having all the best smooth sheeny shadows in one place would be amazing! Both for beginners, as well as for people who just prefer more sheen than sparkle ✨ >⚡️
    Xoxo tysm for your amazing content Riley! 😊

    My first BIG dive into shifty shadows was the Galaxy Dust Shifters collection from Devinah and I stand by those being a great entry point if you're US based. Each shadow is $8 which is on the cheaper side for indie multichromes, they all have a reddish/burgandy base which can make them more "wearable" than those with super bright bases, the shimmer particles are fine and piecy for some texture, and the shifts are very upfront for all but Celesta IMO. I've added a LOT since those, but they remain some of my favorites

I'm glad you mentioned looxi at the end, they're definitely a good option for beginners. My only qualm with them is that some of their shades are emollient & aren't the best for those of us with hooded eyes. I picked up four from the new collection based on Hannah & Kathryn's swatches & while they're gorgeous, so far two of the four I'm experiencing creasing. 🥺

      Yup! A few looxi shades I have are compostable to higher end brands- I especially love Salted Caramel. However, the majority of indie singles that I’ve decluttered have been from Looxi. Also how to get glitter fallout off my face before I do my base. I use glitter glue, and it still happens and is tough to remove with a wipe.
    And similar to my idea of muted MCs, I’d love to see ones with the most contrast or dimension - basically a one-and-done that looks like you have multiple shades on.

    Question: Why does it seem to be very difficult to find duo/multi chrome shadows that don’t shift green at all? Is there a reason for this pigment wise? Just a curiosity…

    • @seekingshifts
      @seekingshifts ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a good question! This is just my speculation, but I think it may be because green falls right in the middle of the visible light spectrum, so it probably occurs more frequently in terms of the actual multichrome particle diffracting light.

    • @richardwright9292
      @richardwright9292 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @seekingshifts basically this. We can't 'cheat' and join red to violet like we can when painting a colour wheel.
      Also, colours we perceive as 'red', 'green' and 'blurple' have largest parameters for their wavelengths. Human colour vision is particularly sensitive to green and can perceive more variations of it than are even reproducible on screens. This is also because green has higher 'chromacity' compared to the other two colours (essentially, it is perceptually 'brighter') and also why red-only and violet-only iridescents look slightly different to other 'multichromes' (and why we can only make 'black' multichromes that shift reddish hues). Then there is whole thing with green light behaving differently to green pigment - producing yellow instead of brown, when mixed with red.
      There are ways around some of these 'issues' (could I use anymore quotations marks, lmao) but it comes down to physical properties of materials (and some theoretical maths, yay!) and there are limitations on which ones would be practical or safe to use in eyeshadow. Lots of manufacturing advances being made right now and they are going to coincide with a lot of pretty old research finally becoming declassified - so it is an interesting time for multichromes!
