  • Bush Tucker Raspberries!!! They are so yummy! And easy to grow!
    Atherton native raspberries, also known by their scientific name Rubus probus, are a species of raspberry that is native to the Atherton Tableland in Queensland, Australia. This fruit is highly sought-after for its unique taste, texture.
    The Atherton native raspberry is a relatively small fruit that ranges in color from a pale pinkish-red to a deep, almost maroon color. What sets this fruit apart from other raspberries is its unique flavor profile. Atherton raspberries are known for their tangy, sweet, and slightly floral taste. They also have a slightly grainy texture, which gives them an added depth of flavor and mouthfeel.
    In recent years, there has been a resurgence in demand for these raspberries, as they have become increasingly popular in the culinary world.
    These unique raspberries are versatile and can be used in a variety of ways, from jams and jellies to baked goods and cocktails. They are also delicious when simply eaten raw, straight from the bush.
    Atherton native raspberries are a beautiful and delicious addition to any garden and are a true gem of the Australian bush. Their unique flavor and health benefits make them a must-try for any fruit lover, and a staple for anyone looking to incorporate more healthy foods into their diet.

    I'm so glad I found a fellow QLD'R channel, it's been so useful having a channel that is in the same season as me.
    I have native raspberries in a pot and they have even managed to escape the pot and popping up in the garden bed behind the pot. 😅 I might repot them. I thought they grew from seed but I'll have to check. 😊

      Hello fellow QLD"R!!! 🤠So glad you like the channel!!!! They are definitely escape artists!!! Everything I see makes me think they grow from seed but many people say they don't so I'd love to know what you think! 😁🍓Have a great day!!

      @@vintagefoodfarm I agree with you. I threw some of the fruit that wasn't good into the garden bed and I do think the seeds sprouted. I guess it's not a bad problem to have 😂

    Considering the spikes/ thorns, this plant could be grown as a security fence. Actually a double edged sword, the berries would attract and spikes would detract 🤔😅

      It would work 100% 🤠No birds or other critters eat the berries at all!!! It would make a very cheap, very quick boundary as long as you had a good mower! Which everyone knows we do not! 🤣

    • @vintagefoodfarm
      @vintagefoodfarm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty cool hey!!! It works so well! Yes it is rebar mesh used for concrete reinforcement. It is just bent over and anchored to the ground with start pickets and steel cable ties 🤠Provides so much vertical growing space!!!

    Where is you location since I see that you grow raspberries that are from cold weather and papayas are from warm tropical place ?

    • @vintagefoodfarm
      @vintagefoodfarm  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We are in Far North Queensland, Australia😊Those raspberries are "Native Raspberries" or "Atherton Raspberries" so they grow prolifically in the tropics and they taste incredible! "Normal" raspberries don't grow here because we don't get cold enough.😁They are very prickly though 😊Have a great day!!
