    New subscriber, had my stator go out in my GL500 a few months ago. Got quoted 1k just to even get started on it. Finally decided to just do it myself. Thanks for your videos! Took the tank off just now, going to do a little bit everyday.

    I’m so happy I found this, I bought a old 82 Honda Custom and it need a complete make over. I didn’t know where to start because I’m a new rider and learning to fix up my own bike. Very grateful for these step by step!!

    I had a super easy time getting the headers off by pulling the radiator plastics off, then removing the hbox and headers together as one piece, then using a ratchet strap between the headers to twist them out.

    Thank you for an honest to goodness laugh. You say you r following the manual but wait that long to remove the exhaust? Yea I have rebuilt 3 of these bikes working on my 4th. Removing the exhaust is the second step. It also tells you to remove the radiator and front engine mounts, at which time you can remove the tach screw. And with the front mounts removed it becomes very easy to remove the engine from the chassis. I realize this was 2 years ago so I assume you have learned much since then. Keep up the MC content my Friend I will watch. But I may be critical too LOL

    Monk, it's been a while since watching your channel. As a see note I will be reading your fine book again, (don't know if you remember me, Freddie_Ray. I found you on Motorcycle Men Podcast and you helped me out with getting your book). This was very informative and I don't even own a Honda. Hooked again.

    I’m in the middle of it, following along with the service manual and this video, and I’m wondering, how the heck did that propeller shaft slide back so easy after you removed the joint bolt? Mine is pretty stuck. Any recommendations?

    • @carlorosales4499
      @carlorosales4499 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorted! I took the bike off the centre stand so that the swing arm with a line better with the final shaft and then it slid right back. All good! I bought your book can’t wait to read it!

    I have 2 1980's one is a parts bike and the other runs but the frame was chopped to make it a bobber. A bobber would be fine but between them both I can have a complete stock bike. My problem is the good frame I have no title to and no way to find owner to satisfy the DMV. The frame is cut behind the shock mounts so I think I will cut the good frame and repair the one I have title to. I hate to cut a good frame but what the hell I plan on stripping every piece off to paint and or repair every thing. Wish me luck.

    • @UrbanMonkTV
      @UrbanMonkTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welding the rear section onto the titled frame would be the way I would go too. Thanks for watching!

    I dropped my engine a few weeks ago
    Snapped chain guide
    Ended up putting it back together
    Road beautifully for about 15km
    Park it, go to start it the next day....
    Freaking starter clutch is slipping
    Guess who gets to drop the engine again 🤦🏼‍♂️
