REAR wheel drive is the worst in the snow. All wheel drive or 4 wheel drive is the best. Front wheel drive is in the middle. For FWD in snow, just put some weight in the back (like a few sand bags behind the driver and a passenger seat) and that usually helps with most cars in the snow. That and you can let your tires run a few PSI lower than suggested inflated PSI to help give them more contact on the road (yes fuel economy might drop a little but you can get a little better traction doing those two things). But you probably don't want to run them more than a few PSI low or you could have a blow-out if you let too much air out or you let them run too low. The other thing you need is ground clearance. Ground clearance is probably the most important thing to be honest, more so than 4WD. I've seen a few AWD cars and small lowered 4WD trucks still get stuck in the snow, and I've seen some FWD SUVs just plow through the snow without a problem, so ground clearance is also a factor and helpful.
I have a front wheel drive van in South Dakota. With snow tires and traction control it gets us around. AWD does help on hills for increased traction. I have not switched because I have a paid off car and the market has went crazy.
I own a 03 Mitsubishi lancer. I had a p0171 code for being to lean. I made a heat and catalytic shield. hard to get on and off. yup. also some honda civics have exhaust manifolds with catalytic contervers in one piece. small cracks allow unmetered air get inside the before the upstream o2 sensor and causing the car to run lean.
FWD might be fine for some folks but here in the Rocky Mountains 4x4, AWD or chains are required on the snowy mountain roads. Who wants to stop to put chains on or pay someone to do it for ya. What can also happen on those Matrix vehicles is if someone installed a larger radio or accessories that the fuse distributes power too can also overload that fuse under normal circumstances... In modern vehicles, the check engine light and flashing D can happen if the automatic transmission fluid is low or if the fluid is dirty with the P0796 code. There is a sensor in the automatic transmission that detect this. In this case, it is better to change the fluid and/or filter, even if it's never been changed before, because the automatic transmission depends on clean ATF for the automatic transmission to function properly.

Just feather the throttle on them!
Wow, it blows my mind how Mitsubishi didn't place a fuse between the egr and the computer... hence part of the computer got fried.. wow.
Finally a Mitsubishi gets a good rap friend had a lancer 340000 on it change your dam oil and maintain your tranny you'll be surprised glad Scotty was fair and didn't give Mitsubishi outlander a beat down just the truth I love my 07 Mitsubishi outlander run too quality Michelin tires rides nice cheap interior cloth but hey seat covers and that split tail gate is cool also ton of Cup holders 2 gloveboxes storage on top of dash split armrest too bottom chamber moves back n forth and outlets all over even in the back don't knock Mitsubishi's like anything else they ain't half bad
I don’t get it
My nans 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer
Run fine with no issues
It has 110377km ( by memory)
If you don’t like a particular color on a used vehicle but on something else change it or have the paint corrected little dings typical. Grocery carts 🛒 to car doors.
Love it when Scotty debunks himself lol. He ranked Mitsubishi as one of the worst car brands in an older video, but they actually make decent cars. Will last a long time if you change the oil. I personally love the old Montero Sports!
Scotty did say the owner bought the car for 5 thousand dollars and then needed repairs and spent another 8 thousand dollars. I will still agree with Scotty that Mitsubishi are the worst cars to own un American
Mr. Kilmer, can you do a video, in-depth inspection and a test drive on a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with the 2.4 L four-cylinder and only FWD (front-wheel-drive), as well as the current-generation, 2020 Subaru Forester AWD next? It would be interesting for most vehicular buyers.
I'm guessing you have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with the 2.4 L four-cylinder and only FWD (front wheel drive), as well as the current generation, 2020 Subaru Forester AWD?🥱
@@drfeastmf Not really, because I just want Scotty to do a review on one of these vehicles.
@@md2k8 ah I see. It just seemed very specific so I thought maybe you owned them or someone you know does
Can someone make a montage of Scotty throwing beauty covers on the ground?
Scotty, would it be possible to wire a manual switch from a 5volt source to the EGR valve AND JUST FLIP IT ON WHEN YOU ARE IDELING OR SOMETHING SIMILAR?
He chucks those beauty covers with aplomb.
My 2020 toyta corolla paint chips and scratches like to f in tomorrow, I am that 0.2% who relgiously hand wash and wax using 3 bucket method dirt trap etc. I only use brand new high quality microfibers when I do a final wax and any spec of dirt that gets dragged under super light pressure... Hairline scratch... I've owned chevy, ford, jeep, and toytas. None of them did this
Happy 2022 from Capetown Scotty
Happy New Year!
Love your videos!!!!
The kamikaze engineers sure know how to make a car.
They made excellent fighter planes before and during World War 2.
Man your really leaving man imma miss these kool money saving videos 😞
I was going to get one of these but then I found a Camry same price glad I found and got the Camry instead. Best car I’ve ever had and it’s never broken down in the 60,000 miles I’ve driven it and it’s at 273k
