Incredible story. As somebody whose still delving into the vast expanse that is warhammer 40k it’s stories like this that teach me so much about the setting and how even tho the setting can be the main focus of storytelling, it’s ability to construct amazing character stories truly is unparalleled in any sci-fi setting. A little bit ago, Majorkill explained how "Grimdark" didn't necessarily mean "The most painful, Dark-Eldar like thing you can think of." Here, yes, the Imperium won and yes, a potential danger was overcome. But the main character's love for the psyker had to be sacrificed for the survival of the crew. And that's VERY grimdark
MajorKill is an idiot who argues that Warhammer 40K does not lose its grimdark, all the while he is selling Hentai Calendars of 40K. That shit should be banhammered by Games Workshop because of copyright infringement. Not opinions of people. Do not listen to snakes oil sales men and hypocrites.

Really enjoyed this one, reminds me of the eye of terror book you narrated. I love the stories that give more detail to the more civilian side of imperial societies. The Eisenhorn books do a good job of that as well

When it tries to be “erotic” it’s usually even worse. But this lady could make anything sexy and actually seemed to understand WHY people might want to do sexy stuff with each other. Our star crossed Navigator and Astropath had a more potent connection then some Romantic subplots that last whole book series
It’s ok, he realized the Captain really was his friend and managed to stop feeling sorry for himself. He lost a girlfriend but gained a bro for life, a cushy job and a sick ship. He’s gonna be ok.
Wow! I've listened to many 40k stories but this one by far had my full attention the entire time. The characters just felt so alive. I literally felt like I was a part of the story in certain parts. Amazing narration on your part as well! All around fantastic! 10/10
