I think Dalglish looked at the fact Ferdinand and Shearer played a smilar game, and Shearer was a few years younger, I think Les was already 32, so I can kind of understand that decision. Ginola? Maybe Dalglish thought his work rate wasn't enough? Asprilla didn't score many goals but I don't think Dalglish should have sold him, that was a mistake. But this is what happens when you change managers and they have different plans, or what they call today, a "project".
An interesting article here. It seems Newcastle changed their mind after Shearer got a bad injury but Ferdinand decided to leave because it was handled badly.
