Honestly, it's just something that's taught to us. On TV for example, they always portray cats as the villains, or as sneaky, lazy creatures. All of which hold a lot of negative connotation. I'm also sure it could be due to past experiences. For example, I don't dislike dogs, but I'm not super comfortable around them, because I got bite by one once as a kid. Our surrounds + our experiences build who we are, and although I can't speak for other cultures, I can say that America really shapes dogs to be "a mans best friend." So since cats are basically the opposite of dogs, people like the girl in this vine compilation are the result.

My dog bit my hand multiple times when I was younger for trying to pet him. He was about my size (I was about 9) and I was terrified of him. He thought I was playing and since he was a big dog he didn’t realize he was even hurting me. To this day some big dogs, mostly the ones that are overly excited or give off an aura of ‘don’t fuck with me’, still kinda scare me. Do I hate all dogs? No. Even though they hurt me on multiple occasions I can’t bring myself to hate them because even if they did hurt me, it wasn’t by much, besides they were playing. I own a cat and she has scratched me on multiple occasions and bit me a plenty. Do I hate her and want her dead? No. She was playing with me and if I desperately didn’t want her to scratch/bite me I wouldn’t be flailing my hands in front of her face. Feral/Friends cats have bitten/scratched me because I tried to pet them. Do I hate them? No. They attacked me because I didn’t read their body language well enough to tell they didn’t trust me enough to touch them. What I’m getting to is even an animal scratched or bit you, that doesn’t mean all of them are bastards. There can be a million reasons why they did it that can range from playful to the animal just not liking you. Just because you had a handful of bad experiences doesn’t mean you should hate the whole group. Of course you don’t have to like them, but at least you can understand why people like that specific animal and you won’t bash them for their taste in favorite animals due to bias judgement.
