I had heard the name Rick Owens name-dropped in lots on rap songs, but never took the time to actually make my research about the guy until recently, and he has become one of my role models ever since. I lack the intelligence to describe and put into words just how much his philosophy about everything changed the way I view life altogether.

He actually thought that the black lackey was a good idea. Moreover, he most likely justifies this choice as an aesthetic consideration hence the black and white clip. These choices are made by people who are oblivious to colonial histories. I love the creativity of fashion, but some of the people in the industry are willfully ignorant to how discourses are created and reinscribed to maintain the status quo. Disappointed.
I also stumbled pretty badly across this.
@@alexeiulinici Right? I've sold Rick Owens when I was in design school in NYC at Barney's and own some of his pieces. He is brilliant as a fashion designer, but I'm usually disappointed with "icons" when I witness their choices as "humans". I guess this is what we as humans do...
