Wow! The plastic bottle is genius! You just solved my staking and caging dilemma for little or no expense at all. Where I live, lots of people are giving free bamboos and of course used bottle you can get everywhere. Thanks for sharing your genius!

How are the middle canes anchored? You showed a corner and I can see how the 3 canes anchor each other, but can't figure out how that works with just 2. Thanks
They all have a cane coming up from the ground as well as 2 horizontal canes

I love this idea, could someone tell me how I could adapt this to my back yard where there is no soil? And how I could stop it blowing away! Thanks
if you have no soil at all, you might need to do hydroponics, or else get some soil and perhaps do container gardening.
@@iridescentsea3730 Thank you for your reply. Yes I currently have plants such as pumpkins and courgette in containers but need to build something to protect them from critters, particularly slugs! I'm thinking I could build the structure in the vid and attach it to the wall somehow x

@@laura-pl2qo check out Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy channel. Robbie only grows in containers, storage tote boxes mostly, and she has some fantastic ideas for trellising and covering with nets. All on a budget. One of the things is to use a soldering iron to make 2 holes in the tote box about an inch apart, put your bamboo cane there on the inside and then use a zip tie through one hole and back to tighten. If you do this in each corner then you can do this idea with the plastic bottles and net. This video has inspired me to try this this year!

Very nice simple design. How do you tuck it in on the bottom to keep the squirrels and stuff out?
He showed you the stakes with the loop or even big nails or large rocks or long pieces of wood.
Previous video was a guy using tons of extra steps and parts just to put up something inferior to this great idea. You can even use cord to attach the poles even quicker than the bottles.
The bottles keep the bamboo from poking through the netting.
Also the netting gets very tangled up where it sits on top of the bamboo canes, it ends up tearing it but this way a smooth bottle will keep it from doing that.
Plastic bottles are an eyesore, string for me thank you.

You would be wrong.
Bamboo canes are very strong, I use them for trellises for my tomato plants. Tomato plants are heavy and I've never had them fall over or break.
