So good to watch reaction videos of first time listeners of Dimash. I get emotional all over again. The SOS from that show is still my favourite rendition that he does and I get weepy every time I hear it. I love how every commenter on here is also loving on him with their praises. I'm surprised that after 3 years since he was seen on the Chinese Competition Show (that's where I first heard him!) and basically went viral after that, there are people that still haven't heard of him. He is truly an international artist, he crosses all the boundaries. He is humble and respectful, love how important his family relationships are too.
I just pray that he stays who he is and is not corrupted by those "ugly parasites" in the music business. Don't sell your soul to them Dimash!

This song was written for a French Rock Opera in 1978-79 for a guy with a 4.5 octave range. Dimash here at age 22 is a 6 octave 2 semi tones and he just turned 26 on May 24, 2020. He started training in classical singing and piano at age 5. He has 2 degrees in music. Perfect pitch, writes music, composes. His mother is a practicing opera singer ( soprano) and his father was a pop singer, composer, writer and is now Dimash's manager. Dimash plays 8 instruments, sings in 12 languages, speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. Speaks Mandarin conversationally and is pretty good with English, both of which he is still working on. He used to take Taekwondo, not sure that he still does, and he swims regularly to work on breathing techniques. He is still studying music. He went to a school of arts so he has been working on his voice and had tutors for many years not to mention stage presentation. He says he still practices singing at least 3 hours a day. His home country of Kazakhstan wanted to play a full day of his recorded music in 2018 I think it was as a gift to him and what he has done but there were only a few recordings. He does all live music. Now he does recorded music but then, they had nothing and couldn't do the day of his music on the radio. Oh, his first Album went platinum in 7 seconds and triple platinum in 37 seconds.
This was in 2017 performance, you might want to check his performances from 2018, 2019, and 2020. I haven’t stopped listening to him since I first heard him from this show. In my opinion he’s the best singer/vocalist I’ve ever heard in my life time, and in the world. I subscribe to your channel for more Dimash!

Dimash is not just a phenomenal singer but he is a HUGE humanitarian. He's humble, gracious, deeply ingrained in his upbringing and culture. He's from Kazakhstan. He's been formally training since he was 5 yrs old. He holds collage degrees in classical and contemporary music and is in the process of earning his PHd in composing. In this performance he was only 22yrs old and in a competition called "The Singer" in China. He just turned 26 last month. He was in the middle of his first solo world tour when it had to be postponed due to the quarantining/virus. His first Solo US concert was last Dec. in NY at the Barclay Center where it sold out (19,000 people). I would start with "The Singer" videos /journey if you wish for further songs of his 😊💙😊💙

Another thing that people might not notice about Dimash until it is pointed out to you: look at his stage presence, his control of an audience ( Opera 2 is a good example), then the emotion he expresses in a song. This plus vocal brilliance makes him the best. Great reaction by the way!

After you listen to a few more performances by Dimash, you will be convinced that he is the best singer in the world. He was relatively unknown except in his country until this performance. After this performance, he became a star in China overnight.
His friend Erlan Bekchurin arranges almost every song that Dimash sings. They are both geniuses in their respective fields.
Through TH-cam and Weibo (the Chinese TH-cam), Dimash has now a huge following in the millions.
Last Dec he came to NY and filled up the Barclay center. There were people there from 64 countries. It was a night to remember (I was there). Dimash has posted this concert on his channel. Besides being a great singer, he is a great entertainer, funny, talks a lot with the audience (in « Dinglish »), and makes us sing along.
You should probably listen next to Sinful Passion or Opera 2. Once again you will be blown away.

Last October 26th, Dimash was a guest singer at Maestro Igor Krutoy 65th Birthday Concert at New York's Barclays Centre....he sang four songs. He received multiple standing ovations, flowers and gifts from audiences there.
When you’re that good you would get those things! He is so talented!
Dimash calls his fans "DEARS". Btw, Me and my husband saw Dimash twice when he came to New York. First, in November, he performed for Igor Krutoy- a Russian-Ukranian musical composer, which you'll get to know in your future reactions of Dimash. Second time was on December 10, 2019 at the BarclayCenter. It was the 1st Dimash concert in the USA and it was amazingly magical unforgettable concert ever!!! Thank you and love your honest reaction. What's rare about Dimash is he's equally good and powerful in all areas. Mr Roberto delli Carri, a voice trainer from Italy who trains vocal coaches worldwide said Dimash's skills has been polished to diamonds level. And I do love country music though I love Dimash more.

I have listened to many reactions to this video. You are the first I’ve seen to call out the special contribution of the musical ensemble. I think the dramatic arrangement, orchestration, and background vocals are a perfect complement to Dimash’s phenomenal voice. The result is powerful, compelling, even shattering. Welcome to the magic world of Dimash!! Since you mentioned the G#5 so many times, let me help you with the notes a bit (don't worry, he has sung a lot higher in his mix than a G#5, just not in SOS).
The arpegios Dimash was doing were actually starting from B2 going up to B4 and then the operatic stacattos were a E5 F#5 combo. So, this was actually an F#5 on this song in his mix and his falsetto (it was the same note in 3 phrases, 2 at the start and 1 at the end), but then of course you heard him breaking into his falsetto on higher notes a number of times. The high note he hit in the middle part is an E6 (a note that operatic sopranos kinda struggle with) and the other note he hit on the final run was a sustained D6 with the downwards run. You also missed a bit his operatic tenor B4 when he started the final arpegio and also he ended up there after the run on his climax. An operatic tenor B4 is a really high note for tenors (it's the climax in classic plays like Nessun Dorma) and Dimash just casually landed on that note. His voice is so extreme that sometimes you don't really realize how high he is singing, as it sounds so natural and easy for him, even when he is in full baritone/tenor mode.
If you really want to listen to Dimash going a lot past the G#5 on his mix (I repeat, his mix, NOT falsetto), then I strongly suggest "Sinful Passion". It's usually one of the most requested songs anyways, and for a very good reason. Dimash sustains a mixed Bb5, which is kinda crazy. I don't want to give much info on the song to avoid spoiling it to you. It's kind of breathtaking to watch.

Oh boy, you even can imagine what you get into.😄 These are not even the lowest and highest notes that Dimash can reach. His range is over the piano keyboard.😉 His technic is out of this world. He is magnificent. He can sing anything. No exception. Any genre. Prepare yourself for the biggest vocal roller coaster ride. He is an alien 😂. The alien in human body. I adore him.

His absolutely perfect body comes equipped with auto tuning device, extra lungs, beautiful face, incredible charisma and more than 6 octaves angelic voice. He crush, smash and Dimash every song. He picks a song, execute it, does it in his own Dimash's way and it becomes the most beautiful thing you've ever heard. Each new performance is unexpected and explosive and it is very difficult to recommend something specific. All his performances and concerts are mind-boggling. He is unique. I can't get enough of him. You still have tons of Dimash music to listen to. His technique and vocal acrobatics kill us all the time. When you think Dimash knocked you out, that's when he just starts bombing you with his new vocal weapons. You have to know that his arsenal is quite large. You can never be prepared for what comes next. His ability to mixes pop, rock, opera, rap, hip hop and r&b music, in his own unique way makes him a favorite singer to fans of any style of music. Dimash can sing all. You can't categorize him. He can sing bass, baritone, tenor, counter tenor, all types of soprano including coloratura soprano.....he can sing multiple genres types, in multiple octaves in a single song. He has sung in 12 languages though he can only speak in 3 of them. He can definitely sing rock songs.

Like our friend here, I too am new to, Dimash. So many of his fans talk about his Bass capability, but I have yet to hear it. I even searched out, and found, a video that demonstrates his range. However, in that they only showed him barely getting out of the bottom of the Tenor range. Can you suggest a song where he gets into Bass notes?

On day of this concert, people were still attempting to purchase tickets to this concert. Yep, widest male vocal range in the world: E1 to D8 (that we know of), and every note with power, absolute pitch and sweetness. Sings in 12 languages, plays 7 instruments, finishing up his master's degree in composition and going for a PhD. His mom is a soprano opera star in Kazakhstan, his dad is a musician and composer, grandparents also sing. Started opera training at age 5 when his family noticed he had perfect pitch. Best of all he is an honorable, humble, respectful person and just a great human being. I saw him in New York in December and it was incandescent. And he did thank every single person on the stage (musicians, backup singers and dancers) and had each of them come forward and do a riff to get recognized. S.O.S was the song that catapulted him to international stardom in 2017 but there's sooo much more over the last three years! He has been developing his lower range and expanding his styles, if you can imagine that. Have fun getting Dimashified!!

There's actually one guy with a wider range: Tim Storms, who has 10 octaves, from ~G/G#-5 - ~G/G#5. AFAIK, he currently holds the world record for widest vocal range. Di is almost certainly second place, though. Ranges like this are incredibly rare.

Matthew Runaway His highest recorded note to date is a D8 in Unforgettable Day (make sure to deject the live performance at Gakku; he did not throw out that note in his other performances). As for his lowest note: F2, there are several songs: maybe Love Is Like A Dream or Ogni Pietra; or I think in the Diva Dance at Bastau concert; or possibly Across Endless Dimensions.

You just scratched the surface on what this amazingly talented young man can do with his voice he's only 25 yrs old. This was three years ago he has improved greatly since than I got to see him in New York last year and blew my mind. What's even better he sings a lot of the same songs like S.O.S i heard him sing it 5 different ways it's just amazing.

This performance was over three years ago and his voice has matured since he sang this song. He sang for free in order to raise money to buy a pair of prosthetic arms for a ten year old boy who lost both his arms when he got electrocuted. This song was originally written for Daniel Balavoine and sung in the French rock opera Starmania. The song was a big hit in France at that time. Believe it or not, you haven't heard his lowest note or highest note yet, nor all he can do with his voice. Wait until you hear his D8. You have just begun! Dimash always thanks those working for and around him, even at his concerts. Even being now known around the world he remains very humble. He had a sold out concert in New York this past December. I traveled to see him, and it was a concert that will never be forgotten, nor topped in my book.

He and Dimash were the stars in the New Year's Eve celebration in Beijing, China, 2019. They put on an excellent performance. Matthew, since we're chatting...Jam Hsiao was a self-described "bad boy"; no, a really bad one, in a talk he gave. Through tears, he said his biggest regret is that his grandmother died before his life turned around through music. The guys sitting around him, at the show, are members of his band, Lion. Another singer on that show is Terry Lin (the thin guy with big glasses), also from Taiwan; he, too, has an intense story and a lovely voice, Dimash calls him Lin-baba, a term of reverence, as a father-figure. Ok, I'll share more. Hua Chenyu is on the show, looking so very young! In 2013 he auditioned for the show (there is a youtube video), as an awkward beginner, who had grown up in isolated privilege. Two of the three judges found his music strange and almost unbearable; the third judge asked him questions, vocalized with him, told him she wanted to write music with him...he went on to win the show, is a huge star in China, and his music is all over youtube . A whole new world! OK, time for chai/coffee.

The fact is that the organizers of this show invited Dimash as a "dark horse" to enliven the competition a little and show the Chinese participants "foreign, international" singing. In their opinion, there was a stagnation at that time, since the singers adhered to the classical Chinese manner of singing,and among the youth it was no longer rolling. I watched an interview with Sundet Baigozhin (a famous Kazakh Opera bass), in which he told about the circumstances of Dimash's invitation. At that time, he participated in the Bolshoi Opera competition on the Russian channel "Culture" and invited Dimash to sing a crossover duet there on one of the episods. By the way, there is a recording of this duet from the musical "Notre-Dame de Paris" in French. Awesome deep bass and the highest soprano! Sundet said that Dimash was invited only for 2 rounds on very strict conditions: to cause a standing ovation and an unprecedented excitement. And the foreigner could not win by definition. But they did not expect such a rush: after the first performance (SOS), Dimash's video gained more than 600 million views on Weibo overnight. And in the second round, Dimash also took first place. There was no way they could remove Dimash now without causing huge damage to the show. At the end of 14 rounds, the victory was awarded to the 51-year-old honored Chinese singer "on the aggregate of merits" with a difference of several hundredths of a point with Dimash. I think that no one was offended.
Dimash himself, by the way, in an interview said that he did not expect to win this show, and tried to just perform the proposed competitive tasks as possible.

Welcome to the World of Dimash! This was early 2017... keep going! His range (in live performances has) has been as low as A2, and high as D8. He plays seven instruments and sings in 12 languages. He holds 2 degrees in music and is working on a Masters. He has been in training since the age of 5. He just turned 26 last month. So 20+ years of practice. Enjoy the journey...
You are absolutely correct, he has been classically trained since he was 5 years old and has a degree in classical music, as well as another degree in contemporary music (and about to finish his masters in composing). His range of six and change octaves is obviously impressive but personally I always like to emphasise his education. If you keep reacting to him, you will see why. That is talent honed by hours of daily practice for decades and does it show. Most of us don't have his talent even if we do sing but I have always found him to be such a great example of how much vocal education matters (even if we start later, he lucked out with a musical family). What use is talent if you don't use it fully and he so, so does.

Dimash has just turned 26 years old. Dimash is from Kasachstan and sings since the age of 5. He has a degree in both, classical and pop singing. When he performed in " I am Singer" he was only 22 years old.... and believe it or not has developed his singing skills a lot since then. you are right, the musicians are phenomenal! all the singers, judges and audience (who also judge) are professionals, or in the field. Dimash was the youngest contestant, and wildcard and first to perform. They'd never heard him before this. After this, well lets say next morning he had no idea how his life would be changed. He was 22 here, 2017, and is from Kazakhstan, 6-octave range.

- Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition.
- Sings in genres: pop, rock, classics, crossover (neo-classics), folklore, rap, jazz.

Dimash is more than MERE vocal technical perfection. He is THE COMPLETE PACKAGE. That's what makes him the best singer in the world. Having the best voice or the best technical vocal skills alone don't make anyone the best singer in the world.....at most it make those people robotic best.
