We are so glad that the C.J. Walker Mansion has survived and is being used for such a noble purpose. My wife and I passed it many times when we lived nearby in Westchester County and always wondered what would become of it. Madame C.J. Walker was an inspiration to many people, and we are pleased that her legacy continues.

I understand what you are saying, but I am reminded of the great Josephine Baker. When asked why she embraced Paris in the 1920's, after great success in New York City and elsewhere in the U.S., she said (paraphrased), "In the United State, I was always billed as "Black Entertainer, Josephine Baker"; when I came to Paris, I was simply, "Josephine Baker---Entertainer". I didn't have to be designated by the color of my skin." I read that comment many years ago and it has always stayed with me.

She was truly an inspiration and motivating factor in my life. In less than a week after I had read that she was America's 1st self-made female millionaire, I made a small investment in some metal and used it to pull off one of the most successful bank heists in this nation's history, and without ever being apprehended. And then, with as much accuracy as I could muster, I purposefully grazed a few lackadaisical bank tellers in order to incite the level of urgency needed to expedite their slow mathematical skills. My goodness 🤔What is wrong with our school system! How on earth did they get hired at a bank after miscounting my withdrawal request and leaving me shortchanged and feeling robbed of my dreams of acquiring 3 sumptuous estates located in 3 foreign countries. But after I made a furious rush-return to the bank, the grazings worked instant wonders in revitalizing their long-forsaken adding skills. And HOW!

She was not the first black female millionaire it was Annie Turnbo Malone , she also was the one who hired Sista CJ and walker and introduced her to the industry. She worked for Sista Annie as a saleswoman until she eventually took the formula she learned from her boss and copied it and moved to another state and started selling it there with the same name and everything. Annie lived to about 90 and they even celebrate her locally in St Louis til this day.

I loved that you told her story with respect and very delicate as those were hard times, so sorry a widow with a baby. Incredible how she found the love in her products and with her second husband the business strived. I loved her beautiful Mansion; but most of all that it still stands, a testament to her legacy and her memory. Most Mansions are demolished and it's sad, today I am happy to see this video that the home of a very hard working prosperous woman still stands. Thank You for this video.

Thanks for a very interesting and informative video, from which I learned much new information. One slight correction, however. The Estey organ ( at least the one shown) is a reed organ, not a pipe organ. Toward the end of its existence, Estey ( of Brattleboro, VT) did make a few (not very good) pipe organs, but that was after this house was built and furnished. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this, and all your videos about these houses and the fascinating people who owned them.
