Something as simple as walking around can spike your BGL up by 10-15 points. For a true blood glucose test you need to remain seated the entire time. Also I lost 40lbs in 4 months of keto and I had 1 or 2 sometimes even 3 of these tortillas per day. They are amazing and they are a keto best friend!!!
Btw, bake them at 400 for 5 minutes and they make GREAT pizza crust or tostada shell. Cut it up into triangles and bake or fry into nachos. My mom uses them for low carb ruebens and I like them for BLTs it turkey club wraps. Blood sugar also rises with stress.
@@az.az466 I am type 2, and they are a lifesaver for me as well. We live in a rural town & in a rural state. We don't have Meijer or Trader Joe's like so many people who do hauls on TH-cam, so we don't have a lot of the choices most people have. These are literally the only bread substitute available, and we love them. Granted I've never eaten one plain, lol, but we love them filled like for enchiladas or with tuna salad and then lightly toasted on the stove, etc. Loves to you and your son. 🥰
I eat these in the wheat which are only 2g net carbs!! Pretty decent tortilla!! I'm Hispanic and cutting tortillas out was definitely a struggle. Glad I found these!!
These are the only sources of bread in my diet. I wrap everything in them and they taste fantastic. If you are trying to cut way back on carbs, there’s no better substitute for sandwiches, pizzas, and even for naan with Indian food. My health got better and waistline smaller with the help of Mission Tortillas.
I love these and couldn't do keto without them. I also use them to make little pizzas with pizza sauce, mozz cheese, and pepperoni, then put them in the toaster over for a few minutes and they are divine.
These tortillas were my go-to food during the time I was losing weight using dirty keto. I lost 60 pounds in 7-8 months, 10 pounds below my goal. Sometimes I ate them 3 times a day. I use them for cheese quesadillas at breakfast, (don't like eggs) using the microwave. Lunch, anything you can think of can go in them. Barbeque, taco meat with cheese, shredded roast, and ham and cheese are some of my favorites. Any kind of keto veggie can be added as well. I have even warmed the tortilla and then put peanut butter and keto jelly on one. For a desert I put them in the air fryer, between two racks so it doesn't fly around, for 4-5 minutes and then spread butter on them. I also made desert burritos by heating them in the microwave them adding butter and monk fruit sweetener, adding a few sliced strawberries, blueberries, or blackberries to the butter and sweetener make a dreamy desert. I'm 6th generation Texan so I have to have my tortillas. The ways to use them are unlimited.
Lord knows how much you would’ve lost if you wasn’t eating all the cheaper processed dirty keto foods. 60lbs is dam good though. Dirty keto only sets you up to eat trashy and you’ll end up back over weight before long if you don’t change the way you eat over all. Once you get to a certain age eating like that is disturbing. You age faster too.
I eat them all the time, love them and am losing weight! I fry them in olive oil or coconut oil and eat them with homemade guacamole. They have made my life on Dirty Keto so much easier, lol! lol!
Did you know eating fat causes the body to ketose more heavily. The solid fats ( butter, bacon fat, steak trimmings, etc) help the most with ketosis, providing energy and satisfying appetite. Dr. Atkins book titled Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution, explains it all. I always apply it to my diet, it helps so much.
Could be that they are more complex carbohydrates and therefore the slightly raised BSL for an extended period of time could be that digestion process is having to work longer to break them down into simple carbohydrates. The benefit is you are not hitting a BSL spike but rather experiencing a flattened curve. It would have been interesting to see what your Ketone levels were at the 30 and 60 minute marks. When doing a test like this where the BSL doesn't spike but is slightly raised over a longer period of time, it would be nice to extend the test to the 3 hour mark.
I'm T2 diabetic. I was eating these a lot. My A1C went up .3 and my Triglicerides rose to almost 300. So I did a similar test. I saw a glucose spike of at least 35 points. To contrast this, ice cream (not sugar free) bumps me 10 points. So I stopped eating them. I A1C returned to normal levels and my Triglicerides dropped to 100. I'm hearing that there is a loophole in labeling laws that lets you treat the carbs from fiber separately from the total carbs, which causes a misleading Net carb count.
As a long time diabetic (over 40 years) all testers have a margin of error. I can test twice in a few minutes and get two different results. Your results were well within any margin of error. Something like taking a vitamin c can increase your blood sugar as can the size of the drop and if you are dehydrated.
I didn't know that. I've been taking 1400mg caps. of vitiman C. Maybe I should cut back. I've been watching too many videos. I heard I should take it, so I ordered some, along with Vit. B1 and B2. I've been taking a host of vitamins that I didn't take a few months ago. I'm probably messi g my system up.
Jenni K I don’t know about all the vitamins but the insert in my box the strips come in specifically says vitamin C. My endocrinologist told me to drink water if my blood sugar tested high.
The problem with net carbs is that it gradually but surely creates a glucose spike that keeps on going for longer. If you only go to the first hour and expect to be at or close to baseline you are wrong. That is the problem with most keto tortillas and most net carbs. That's why I go with the total not net most of the time. I occasionally take the net but they total needs to be no more than 14 carbs. So I encourage people trying to work on their blood glucose to check at least twice postprandial. It takes like 3 and even 4 hrs to bring the glucose back down to where you feel comfortably. .
I love when you test foods. But just a quick side note...Mission also has a flour tortilla variety called Protein Plant Power. Total carbs 15 grams with 12 grams of dietary fiber. That has been my go to wrap. Very, very little blood sugar spike.
I've been doing KETO for 2 and a half months ,I do have those low car wraps a couple a times a week, but only eat 1 meal a day,and so far I went from May1st 200lbs to now 160, I sometimes have lettuce wraps but truly miss the wraps, I'm sticking with them ,not all the time but occasionally! Ty❤
We eat these, my husband has at least 2 everyday and it doesn’t knock him out of ketosis and his blood sugars are good. He is one who can eat 30 gms net a day at least and he’s still in ketosis. He is super thin, has not had a problem with being overweight. He stays in ketosis for a neurological condition he has. I have 1 every other day or so, and I’m consistently in ketosis. I had been strictly keto, but last month I’m eating dirty keto, but I keep carbs under 20 total. I’m now 20 lbs overweight, insulin resistant and have lost over 160 lbs. you do need to cook these first, I usually pan fry in butter or coconut oil on med high. I freeze the bag of them and take them out ( might need to carefully separate with a sharp knife if frozen together) and them fry in butter for just a couple minutes a side, then use in tacos or quesadillas. I think my husband would not stay on the keto diet if he didn’t have these. Thanks!
@Amie Rikke Congratulations on your weight loss! That’s fantastic. Do you mind me asking over what period of time it took you to lose that much? Of course everyone is different I really am just curious. Again, congrats, thats awesome!! xoxo
I eat them once in a blue moon. I am diabetic so I test all the time. These don't spike my BS too much, about 15 points and they don't knock me out of ketosis. My daughter and I tend to make tortilla chips out of them. A little olive oil, some Himalayan sea salt and bake about 10 minutes. Tasty!
These are amazing. I dont understand those who are saying it taste nasty alone, why do you eat it without anything in the first place. I make breakfast burritos, sandwich wraps and pizza with it, always delicious.
@@gottiic6529 you can actually look up TH-cam videos on them. But it's easy, personal pizzas. You just put pizza sauce and toppings on them, I place it in my airfryer and it's my own personal pizza.
I fry mine to a golden brown. Tacos. Tostadas. Or I make enchiladas. I also fry two and then sprinkle mozzarella between them and make a pizza using raos sauce and all fresh toppings cook for 20 mins and I makes a decent thin crust pizza which I split with hubby.
These are actually my favorite brand. If they are fried or toasted in an air fryer they are divine. I use them for pie crust for strawberry pies and they are great.
I make little thin crust pizza with these. Add some Rao's marinara, cheese and toppings. In the toaster over for 12 minutes and you have a little mini pizza with a crispy crust (unless you use too many toppings or sauce)
I've eaten one tortilla a day loaded with meat, cheese, & veggies for a month along with other dirty keto meals while overseas. I stayed in ketosis & continued to lose weight but every person is different so do what works for you. Some people are more sensitive to carbs, sugar, etc. Also if you usually eat at that time, your body could have been "preparing" for you to eat food which is why it went up especially since you stated you were really hungry.
I turn mine into “chips”. Put olive oil and sea salt on them. Cut them into 8ths with a pizza wheel, put them in oven on a cookie tray at 425 for 3 to 4 minutes. Have them with keto guacamole.
Do they get crispy enough to turn into a chip texture ? I tried this I put them in a air fryer which is the same as an oven if not better and either I cooked them to Hot for too short of a time or I should have cooked them slower lower heat to allow them to get crispier. Because they did not get crispy enough
@@will195 yes, 425 degrees for 3 minutes or so then rotate pan in the oven (not flipping the chips) because oven cooks unevenly, then 2 more minutes. I have to adjust this if I am cooking a second batch on a hot pan. Maybe 30 seconds or a minute less. Your cooking times may vary.
I have the Mission Zero Carb tortillas. They are small and supposedly have 7 carbs with 0 net carbs once you subtract the fiber. At only 25 calories each, even if your body absorbed all 7 of those carbs, I can't see that totally derailing you out of ketosis for long. Even if you ate 3 of them you would only be eating 21 carbs and 75 calories - still within the allowable carb limit for keto assuming you keep the rest of your meals zero carbs. Even if you get bumped out of ketosis I would think that some exercise and a little fasting would put you right back into ketosis. I don't plan to eat them every day but I'll use them on taco nights and to make mini pizzas from time to time. As far as warming the tortillas go, I just microwave for about 30 seconds, top with whatever I'm filling them with and bake in the oven for about 7 minutes. You can also pop them in your air fryer.
You should take the tortilla over an open flame on your stove for 5-10 seconds per side; completely changes the taste and texture. I keep these in the fridge for those emergency times ...when I absolutely need to eat something! lol. They are not an everyday food in my diet.
Did you know eating fat ( mainly solid fats such as bacon fat and butter ) causes the body to ketose more heavily. I read it in Dr. Atkins book titled Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution. I apply it to my keto diet every day, it helps so much. Fats also satisfy appetite and provide energy when in ketosis, again solid fats help much more. Hopefully the book is still available to purchase.
Good video. Even as a dirty keto person, I'm not too crazy about these Mission tortillas. The vegetable shortening they use is interesterified and hydrogenated soybean oil, and they're sweetened with artificial sucralose. A little better are the La Banderita Carb Counter and La Banderita Zero Net Carb tortillas, and also the Olé Extreme Wellness Keto tortillas which are all made with extra virgin olive oil, and sweetened with allulose.
Exactly ..why cant make tortilla .with only olive oil..protein powders,NO SEED OILS..ADDED !!use ..neutral non flavor coconut oil even..? ..And instead of wheat ..why not have coconut flour idk...?they need to keep trying to come up with better combo ingredients..i just keep experimenting at home..until i find ..right taste ,texture and ingredients ..once i do ..?will have to put on facebook ..i just bought me a crepe flat electric pan maker ..if can come up with right keto dough..will try to put on this and easier to flip ..and see how turns out...i keep trying find diffetent recipes on youtube..some use cottage cheese..some avocados..id use for my keto vore ..way eating .and also some use greek yogurt ..some crushed pork rinds ..i wonder how turn out if combined all these in portion and add an egg and pour onto pan to cook ??
Eating fat causes the body to ketose more heavily, especially the solid fats ( butter, bacon fat, steak trimmings ). Fat also provides energy while ketosing and satisfies the appetite, again, the solid fats help the body much more with these functions when ketosing. I read this info in Dr. Atkins book titled Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution. I apply it to my keto dieting and it works so well.
I find that i don’t lose weight when I eat them, but i still have them and love them and don’t want to live without them 😩 so I will limit how much I eat them most of the time -Emily (also I just checked your playlists but didn’t see one for aldis fit and active low carb tortillas, it would be great if you did a test on those since they are so much cheaper than the mission tortillas!
I usally eat the spinach ones only 3 carbs, never see the 2 carb ones, but have tried 'Follow one there at Trader Joe's called pram wraps ,so good but expensive!
I have a mission tortilla once a week. Every Monday we have a breakfast wrap with these, but that is as far as I’m willing to go so far. Lol I’m guarding my progress with all I got!
I hope everybody understands that even the glucose meters that they use in the hospital as a plus or minus factor going on of 10 points usually so there is a margin of error built into them so your 102 could’ve been basically the same sugar level as an 93
I do a Tortilla grilled sandwich of some sort almost ever day for lunch w/the Mission Carb Balance tortilla, M-F, I'm obsessed😋 I love em all, Green herb, Whole wheat and White💚🤎🤍
Just have one tortilla/burrito with a bunch of fat (egg, chorizo, bacon, sausage etc) and you should be fine. Fat lowers blood sugar and makes you really full. Also be sure to take apple cider vinegar capsules after every meal. That helps lower blood sugar as well. 😉
Hispanics heat up tortillas on a hot “comal” and fill them up with chorizo, eggs and cheese, or any of our favorite food ingredients. I personally like my tortillas slightly toasted before I fill them. Try a heated and toasted tortilla with butter.... yummy the best! 😋
It could be going up after two hours due to the amount of fiber in it. Fiber shields carb absorption. This has a lot of fiber in comparison to normal flour products or flour tortillas.
I love these tortillas and being able to ketofy all my normal mexican dishes i make has made this lifestyle doable for me. Theybare the best for flautas.
best replacement for tortillas in my opinion is Cutdacarb flat breads! I use them for everything and they are soooooo delicious. They never kick me out of ketosis either
It makes absolutely perfect sense that your blood glucose levels would start going up after 2 hours. The whole reason why the net carbs end up so low isn't because you're starting out low carb, it's because the fiber slows the absorption of the carbs. So now you're just absorbing them 2 hours later instead of 1/2 hour or 1 hour later. Same carbs just slower absorption.
I do not have any problems with this brand and I love the taste of these and the spinach ones when I fill them with keto foods. They are not meant to be eaten just plain, I wouldn't think. I have even toasted them and used them for various reasons.
I have been a part of a keto support group for several years. We regularly do the same kind of BG tests that you did. It has been our experience that processed foods that add in fiber to get the "net carbs" down tend to have a delayed reaction in spiking BG. They often start spiking after the one hour reading and keep going even as long as four or more hours. When it comes to processed foods and net carbs,... test, test and keep testing before you make them a part of your pantry. As one of our coaches observed, "Adding a lot of psyllium to an Oreo cookie may lower the net carbs but it will not make a "keto friendly" snack.
Hi Kristie. I’ve been watching you for a while now. Some observations. When we eat a high fiber food, absorption is slower. So, your BG level at two hours isn’t surprising. I’ve tried this brand, and as a diabetic who is trying to stay off insulin, they send me too high and take forever to come down. I only buy the Ole ones, they’re flax and I seem to be able to tolerate them. As for ketones, I test with strips, and I only get a minimal reading in the morning. So I don’t bother. I only check really now after eating too many carbs, my cheat days. Sometimes I just want Panera 🙃 I have found I can actually cheat two days in a row before knocking me out of ketosis. But as long as I’m losing weight, that’s my goal. I’m down 25 from my highest a few years ago. Insulin only made me gain weight. So now I’m trying to force my body to use insulin it seems to be still making. It’s been a battle, and my BG is nowhere near as low as yours, because I am insulin resistant. I do take Berberine in order to assist with insulin control. Thanks for your videos! When I get back to Tennessee later this year, I’m going to have to check out Aldi. 😉
gayle crisp Hello. I’ve been taking Berberine probably for the better part of three years. I did research first, and did not want to take metformin. When I was diagnosed I was immediately put on insulin by an epidemiologist. Worst decision ever. So, as to brand. I take Thorne Berberine 500 mg. Two a day, and I’m on automatic delivery. I tried a number of other products/sources of Berberine., trying to reduce cost, but most did not provide the same results. So, I’ve stuck with the Thorne product. Not all products use the same source of their Berberine. I deliberately looked for a source that used the same plant as the one in the study I found at the NIH website. Berberine works best in the presence of insulin, so I try to take with or just before a meal that has some carbs. I have used in successfully to lower my blood sugar instead of taking insulin, that is if I’m not really high. Hope this helps👋🏻
I was hoping there wasn't a bad response because the missions are absolutely how i am able to control my carbs . And lose weight, so i will take your results as a win for me and limit them but help me feel less deprived, and feel like i can enjoy pizza, fajitas, cheese steaks with the rest if my family eating regular take out . They work for me . Thank you for the test. I pan fry mine with butter and garlic powder before filling, also deep fry in olive oil for nachos during the football game. I cut into triangle shapes and fry
I gained 5 pounds eating these, but mostly because it kicked me out of low carb "mode" and I gained back the 5 pounds of water you need to process carbohydrates. I quit them and the 5 pounds disappeared.
My husband eats these all the time and I recently tried them and liked them...thanks for doing this test...I know my body is different but your efforts are appreciated ♡
Flour converts to sugar, therefore your sugar will go up. It also indicates a possible insulin resistance issue. This is what happens to me when I used to eat flour products but mine would spike high and then I would drop fast and go way too low. It resulted in seizures. Since starting Keto 16 months ago I have not had one issue with my blood sugar going low. I am also not a diabetic. But I do eat these at least once or twice a week. These are my bread for sandwiches and breastfast burritos. I also use Ole's. They are much thinner and come in flavors. I use Mission to make crackers. They are fantastic! Cut them in triangles, put them in a bowl and pour about 2 teaspoons of olive oil or any oil you want to use onto the triangles. toss them and rub the oil on them with your fingers. Layer then on your air fryer racks. Sprinkle them with kosher or sea salt. Bake them in the air fryer at 400 for 8 minutes, no longer, sometimes 7 minutes work. Watch them carefully, they actually fly. Let them cool completely. They are even crispier the next day but this satisfies my crunch factor. Great in soups, with cheese, dipped in peanut butter or guacamole or salsa.
@@terriehynds7496 I have never tried then in the oven so I can't guide you on that. I have always had the thought process that if you want to see if something works, try it. Don't be afraid to experiment. Only do a half one if you don't want to waste it. Try the oven at 400, but I would put them on a rack, don't lay them on a sheet. Let us know if it works.
Meters are "allowed" to have a +/- variance of 20% Plus, some ingredients have a delayed digestive reaction and you don't always see accurate info within the standard testing window.
I have eaten this product for a couple years. I like the flavor especially when heated up in a pan or griddle to lightly brown up. They are awesome. They never give me a spike in blood sugar. Make fajitas out of these they are amazing. The net carbs are real. Lots of fiber. FYI I don't eat 4 of these at a sitting. I eat one or two. for dinner. Maybe one at lunch with shaved meet and some southwest sauce for zip. Quick easy and my wonderful wife loves to have them as tacos or fajitas too.
3:52 THANK YOU. The distinction you make here is very appreciated. It’s so annoying when smug keto TH-camrs refuse to just say “it’s not the healthiest but it’s keto”. They’re usually trying to push affiliate links to strictly clean keto products.
They taste much better if you toast them lightly in a dry pan. It gives them a little freshening up and sort of takes away the spongy doughy consistency.
Everyone is different so the way food effects one person it will be different for someone else. Have lost 78lbs in 7 months doing just low carb. No keto, not adkins, just low carb offerings. I have been eating the mission torts, and aldi low carb bread the whole time. Might not work for you,but.......
If your staying in ketosis your body might be pulling sugar from the fats in your liver which would make you glucose go level up and ketone level would go up.
I use these. I’m not worried about ketones but I do dirty keto so I get 20 or 25 carbs a day. After that, I’m done on carbs and have foods available to satisfy my meal needs. I’m a newbie sub. I don’t even know how to use Facebook. So I’ll follow you here. TY my favorite go to food is meat. I could be carnivore but I realize I need greens. I keep chuck eye steak when I can find it ready to sear. Also chicken in my freezer for a quick burrito . That’s a secret to being successful in keto. Have food on hand to go to. I always have salad fixings too just in case I ate all the meat that I should have. I keep seafood in my freezer too.
If you are strict keto you may not like this product. But for older overweight people like me this is an acceptable way to keep carbs low and enjoy food in moderation. My complaint is they are 2x the price.
I'm down 25lbs since November 30th. Christmas holidays made it hard but still managed to lose 2.9lbs each week since starting. I Will not say I'm full keto. I still eat beans and some chips. But follow a very strict calorie intake based off weight and try to get minimum 6k steps a day with minimum 30mins of strictly walking time. I did this same thing in 2019 and lost somewhere between 70 and 80lbs in around 6 months. Felt great and I ate anything that showed a low net carb or low carb. Now back in 2019 I owned my own lawn care and walked anywhere from 12-15k steps 5 days a week. That I believe elevated my weight loss numbers so much quicker.
Thank you so much for these videos! They are so helpful, especially for people like me who are still in the beginning stages of a keto way of eating. Love all your videos!
I have never tried the flour kind but I do once in a great while have the Mission Carb Balance Spinach & Herb. Thanks for doing these tests, it helps keep us aware of how certain products may effect us! :)
So I started keto a few weeks ago. I was seeing the scale go down almost daily and then I found these exact tortillas at Walmart so I tried them. I ate them for 2 days and the next few days the scale stayed the same. I stopped eating them and it started moving again. I didn’t test glucose or ketone levels so I can’t exactly say that this was the reason but I think I will only have them once in a blue moon. Great video BTW
I like to fry mine in fat, flip and put cheese of them fold them so it makes a hard taco shell. Then I fill them with meat and veggies and sauces and it comes out amazing. You can do so many combinations with them
Hi, I'm a diabetic on insulin Same things happens to me . Blood glucose wise. It goes up when I'm starving and had only some carbs. Thank you for doing this.
I really like these because you can do so many things that with them I use them as a sandwich wrap but I also have used them as a pizza crust and as tortillas chips
I think your result was good. Stress can raise your sugar. The definitive marker is your ketones, imho, and that was great! It would have been interesting to see what happened after another 30 or 60 minutes but I know you were hungry, lol.
Usually when testing a food, the interval is 1/2 hour, 1 hour and 2 hours. Even if accurate, it may very well be that the insulin is finally kicking in. That would be a normal response. Where are you getting that it should be going down? The 2 hour test is no more significant than the one hour test. It just shows that your response is delayed. If 102 was all I had to worry about as a diabetic, I'd be happy indeed. But I'm type 2, so things may be different for you.
I laughed out loud when your ketones actually went up when you feared the worst. I realize that this may sound silly but, do you think you could sometime try the Meijer carb watch tortilla shells and see if the results are the same? Not all fiber-rich tortillas are equal and I personally use the Meijer ones because they are cheaper than the Mission ones. I'm a big fan of using them for burgers (like a Taco Bell crunchwrap but with a cheeseburger inside), fajitas, and breakfast burritos. Thanks again for doing these tests for us!
I see your 2hr Post Prandial blood sugar of 102 ok. You should check it for 1 more hour(3hr check). After 3hrs of consuming a "meal" your body should've reacted and returned back to its pre-glucose stage. Normal BS is 80-120 per textbook guidelines. Edit: And your body did not secrete a ton of insulin for that 1 wrap to go back down to the '80s. Your body is preparing for food consumption so you may not go back until your overnight sleep(fasting after eating for the day)or you continue to fast and you could go under your baseline bc not enough in your body. Looks like a great result compared to mine(Diabetes2).
It's weird because i love these tortillas, they taste exactly the same as regular mission tortillas to me. All tortillas must be warmed though to heat up the fats it tastes so much better.
I was wrong about this test. I tried the Mission Carb Balanced wraps. My blood sugar went high and stayed high. The fiber in them did pack a punch but there was no balance. Wheat products aren't good Keto (for me).
Im with you..im really trying cut wheat out too ..even though i dont have celiac ..im not..but still i hear wheat cause inflammation ..i am not just trying cut sugar to reverse ny insulin resistence as type 2 diabetic..but wheat...because ..these 2...+ seed oils...ALL cause inflammation which lead to disease...im going ..not all carnivore...but im trying KETO vore..mostly meat /protein ..and still try keep 10-15 carbs daily tops .meaning oy big one very low.carb non-starch veggie ..like mushrooms..or asparagus avocado ...virtually no calories .with practically no carbs..and maybe have one choice of berry fruit. .in heavy whipping cream with water .and blend up for smoothie .as treat .1 x week...so i dont have to completly go to flavorless way eating ..i need variety on my palate..like minced garlic, curry ,italian seasoning something ..or i dont know if couldd make sustainable . For life..change...???also make my own from scratch bread at home..

Kristi thank you so much for doing this video! It's products like this that could mean the difference in staying the course or giving up for me. I have been criticized lately for eating these by the Keto police.
Lack of sleep will do all kinds of crazy things to your body. I tend to have more food ( especially carb ) cravings when I'm tired. I'd say they are safe, but in moderation :)
Those glucose monitors have a +/- 15% error so 93 and 101 are statistically equal. Just a ballpark number. Not exact, but enjoy watching these anyway for the science 😬.
A lot of keto approved foods do that to my blood sugar, at the one hour it's not up much but at the two hour when it should be returning it goes up just a tad like these did you. But then if I test at the 3 hour mark it is back down. Wish I knew the answer as so many keto foods do this to me. I am a type 2 diabetic though. However I'm losing weight and feel better.
Good morning! Like I have said before, my body did not do well with the tortillas. It knocked me right out of Ketosis when I checked at 2 hour mark. I wanted to love these so bad but if you look at ingredients, there are a lot of things that you really don’t want to eat when doing keto. I don’t know! I am staying away but again, I wanted to love these so bad! Thank you for all you do! xoxo
So true, they are nasssty alone. They aren’t amazing tasting period, but I’ve used them before if I was hankering for a regular tortilla or a bun for a burger LOL. So if it keeps someone from spiraling, it’s all good to me 🙌
Your videos are very useful. I used to use these many years ago when doing Atkins and they never knocked me out of a keto burn. Also, YES, I did eat these plain like you did, just because I had nothing to go in them - and they were not the best, and like you discovered, when eating them plain they seem huge. However, used for tacos, just adding some hamburger meat and cheddar cheese, they were great, at least by low carb standards. I've tried the wheat kind of low carb as well and really didn't like them at all - certainly not for tacos, but I'll have to try them again as maybe a sandwich wrap.

Thanks for the tip
They cook up great in my air fryer in the truck.
I put salsa and bacon and cheese on one and cooked it in my air fryer and it was decent as a low carb pizza
You can also use shredded cheese+baking (or microwave) for a pizza crust

These are literally the only bread substitute available, and we love them. Granted I've never eaten one plain, lol, but we love them filled like for enchiladas or with tuna salad and then lightly toasted on the stove, etc. Loves to you and your son. 🥰
I eat these in the wheat which are only 2g net carbs!! Pretty decent tortilla!! I'm Hispanic and cutting tortillas out was definitely a struggle. Glad I found these!!
Hispanic here as well. I eat the larger wheat tortillas @ 5 net carbs 😬 I eat them almost everyday since Dec 1, 2020 & down 30 lbs so far.
Disney love Anime how did it go? i just bought them LOL
Me, too. I have them for breakfast frequently with eggs, cheese and ham or bacon. Delish!
@@Tazco527 Thank you for the info., and the reply back. I will pay more attention now.
Yes!!!! I do not have a stall or gain with these!!
Thanks!
Just put some wax, parchment, or freezer paper between them. Great idea!
Wow, congratulations on the weightloss
@Amie Rikke Congratulations on your weight loss! That’s fantastic. Do you mind me asking over what period of time it took you to lose that much? Of course everyone is different I really am just curious. Again, congrats, thats awesome!! xoxo
I eat them once in a blue moon. I am diabetic so I test all the time. These don't spike my BS too much, about 15 points and they don't knock me out of ketosis. My daughter and I tend to make tortilla chips out of them. A little olive oil, some Himalayan sea salt and bake about 10 minutes. Tasty!
What temp do you bake them at?
@@MyBlazingLife 300 should be good, for about 10 to 15 minutes depending on your oven and how well done you prefer them.
@@MyBlazingLife 350 and I flip them after 5 minutes. Generous amount of salt and so yummy!
These are amazing. I dont understand those who are saying it taste nasty alone, why do you eat it without anything in the first place. I make breakfast burritos, sandwich wraps and pizza with it, always delicious.
How u make pizza with them?
@@gottiic6529 you can actually look up TH-cam videos on them. But it's easy, personal pizzas. You just put pizza sauce and toppings on them, I place it in my airfryer and it's my own personal pizza.
Same here
I fry mine to a golden brown. Tacos.
We are trying that next week
Do you toast the tortilla a bit before you add the toppings and put it back in the oven to melt the cheese?
@@jadedoptimist6364 no it gets pretty crisp unless you soak it with sauce. If you try it let me know. I've never pretoasted them
So so good!
I gained eating them everyday. Ive tried Mr.Torilla there not bad but there pretty expensive. $4.99+$3.00s.h. arond $9ish
This could have been said in 17 seconds
Thanks I'll fast forward to the middle, I always read the comments first.
I do too! Perfect for a toaster oven.
They are great with butter in them and toasted in a frying pan; they crisps up good also; my family loves these
I find that i don’t lose weight when I eat them, but i still have them and love them and don’t want to live without them 😩 so I will limit how much I eat them most of the time -Emily (also I just checked your playlists but didn’t see one for aldis fit and active low carb tortillas, it would be great if you did a test on those since they are so much cheaper than the mission tortillas!
Same here! But I don’t wanna stop eating them! Lol 😖
I'll add that to the list
Awesome !! I plan on having these everyday too. I just ordered 6 bags 😂
I love these as a breakfast wrap then “grilled” crispy… YUM!!
You need to heat the tortilla up first. Use a stone iron frying pan to toast on each side! Good luck 🙂
This video is gonna hurt. Cause I ain’t given them up regardless of results 🙈🙈
Lol, it's ok I think
Preachhhhh
Just have one tortilla/burrito with a bunch of fat (egg, chorizo, bacon, sausage etc) and you should be fine. Fat lowers blood sugar and makes you really full. Also be sure to take apple cider vinegar capsules after every meal. That helps lower blood sugar as well. 😉
😂
Michelle Wade www.cutdacarb.com you can only purchase them online and they are shipped fresh straight to your door. thank me later
I eat these all the time it doesn’t knock me out. I eat the wheat ones though.
I also eat the wheat ones and I believe they are 1 carb less per serving! They are very good! I like them better than the plain.
Yes. I do the wheat and have no problems. But I understand everyone is different
@@SewWhittle I eat the wheat ones also and they are 1 carb less
Yes ma'am I agree with you 💯
I have been a part of a keto support group for several years.
Hi How long have you been taking Berberine? Do feel like it is helping any? Which brand do you take?
gayle crisp Hello.
Thank you so much for all the info
I’d like to see you test a real tortilla to compare & contrast against the carb friendly tortilla.
I've been trying to lose weigh myself and wanted to know if these really help? I only eat 2 per day
I gained 5 pounds eating these, but mostly because it kicked me out of low carb "mode" and I gained back the 5 pounds of water you need to process carbohydrates. I quit them and the 5 pounds disappeared.
Yeah these tortillas are great for me personally but I’m also not keto but I’m moderate with my carbs
I’m Mexican just so you know your supposed to warm up your tortilla until it blisters
My husband eats these all the time and I recently tried them and liked them...thanks for doing this test...I know my body is different but your efforts are appreciated ♡
I cut them up and toast them in the oven to use as tortilla chips with my taco dip.
YES! I do this too! I put some oil and salt on them before i put them in the oven. They are awesome for this! =)
Thanks, i'll try that
Making crackers... great idea!!
I don't have an airfryer, can I cook them in the oven and for how long?
@@terriehynds7496 I have never tried then in the oven so I can't guide you on that. I have always had the thought process that if you want to see if something works, try it. Don't be afraid to experiment. Only do a half one if you don't want to waste it. Try the oven at 400, but I would put them on a rack, don't lay them on a sheet. Let us know if it works.
Ok answer me this if you don't mind why can a person eat these a couple times a week but not everyday especially if it's no sugar added right??
Review starts at 2:05
God, thank you
Meters are "allowed" to have a +/- variance of 20% Plus, some ingredients have a delayed digestive reaction and you don't always see accurate info within the standard testing window.
You're welcome
I read that fiber products (which this is) can have a slower effect on blood sugar, so perhaps that is why... although it was still not a big spike.
I am glad they didn't raise your ketones. I just started eating one a day and am losing weight. I never lose weight.
I use them and they don’t cause any problems for me. However, due to high fiber content, it may make some people feel bloated.
If you are strict keto you may not like this product. But for older overweight people like me this is an acceptable way to keep carbs low and enjoy food in moderation. My complaint is they are 2x the price.
100% agree🤗
Haha. Yup 12-15k steps a day will make you lose weight eating pretty much anything (within reason) much less keto.
love these. eat them all the time. no weight gain
I like them plain. I like them with stuff on them. My problem is that I will eat the entire package at once.
Thank you so much for these videos! They are so helpful, especially for people like me who are still in the beginning stages of a keto way of eating. Love all your videos!
Thank you
I have never tried the flour kind but I do once in a great while have the Mission Carb Balance Spinach & Herb.
I think warming it up would've made it a bit more bearable.
Love one of these pan crisped up then I smear a little keto cinnamon sugar butter that I keep in fridge for those sweet tooth days.
I've decided that these will be what I use when I want a "cheat day".
The high fiber most likely slowed the blood sugar reaction.
I like to fry mine in fat, flip and put cheese of them fold them so it makes a hard taco shell. Then I fill them with meat and veggies and sauces and it comes out amazing. You can do so many combinations with them
And you stay in ketosis anyway? How many you eat each day?
Hi, I'm a diabetic on insulin Same things happens to me . Blood glucose wise. It goes up when I'm starving and had only some carbs. Thank you for doing this.
You're welcome
I really like these because you can do so many things that with them I use them as a sandwich wrap but I also have used them as a pizza crust and as tortillas chips
I love these, they don't affect my ketone either, but i have them sparingly
I think your result was good. Stress can raise your sugar. The definitive marker is your ketones, imho, and that was great! It would have been interesting to see what happened after another 30 or 60 minutes but I know you were hungry, lol.
As a diabetic, these tortillas shot up my BS n kept my BS elevated for hours later, a no go for me!☹️
Same with us
Usually when testing a food, the interval is 1/2 hour, 1 hour and 2 hours.
A lot of fiber slows glucose response. I usually at the highest between 2-3 hours after eating these.
I'm glad it tuned out like it did because I use them occasionally.
We don't have that store in my area unfortunately
@@SouthernKristi Oh okay, well thank you for responding ❤
Yeah mission tortillas have a distinct “processed” flavor to them, it’s kinda like a weird raw flour kinda taste. They are much better when warmed.
They taste legit just like regular tortillas
@@mandaaa1724 they taste alright but they definitely don’t come close to fresh tortillas.
It's weird because i love these tortillas, they taste exactly the same as regular mission tortillas to me. All tortillas must be warmed though to heat up the fats it tastes so much better.
Even though I do not eat these, I do think if it makes it easier to follow your keto lifestyle then go for it. They are better than the SAD diet
I was wrong about this test. I tried the Mission Carb Balanced wraps. My blood sugar went high and stayed high. The fiber in them did pack a punch but there was no balance. Wheat products aren't good Keto (for me).
I would revisit that and pack out the tortilla shell with meat cheese avocado lettuce.
@@kimberlychilstrom6888 My T2 was out of control last year and early this year. My doctor wanted to put me back on meds. I totally refused the offer of drugs. No thanks. All I did was get my carbs down to
Putting them in a pan they get soooooo good!! “Raw” isn’t as good
Just found you a couple of weeks ago and I’m absolutely obsessed with you and your content. Thanks for being you!
Awww, thank you
I would have rechecked my glucose level, seeing as your Ketones raised.
What did you do between test? Many other things besides food will spike insulin. Thx for doing the test. Love when you do these.
Nothing at all, sit at my desk and worked on the video.
If you think something isn't right. You're suppose to take another test
Kristi thank you so much for doing this video! It's products like this that could mean the difference in staying the course or giving up for me. I have been criticized lately for eating these by the Keto police.
Don’t listen to the keto police everyone’s body is different.
11:35 2 hr mark test
Lack of sleep will do all kinds of crazy things to your body. I tend to have more food ( especially carb ) cravings when I'm tired. I'd say they are safe, but in moderation :)
Those glucose monitors have a +/- 15% error so 93 and 101 are statistically equal. Just a ballpark number. Not exact, but enjoy watching these anyway for the science 😬.
They taste good heated up in a frying pan then fill with whatever you want. 😉
Thank you for all you do! xoxo
Thanks for watching
@Kristi Davis I commented the other day that you are now a part of my daily routine! Love it, keep up the great work! xoxo
@@meld8363 you are so sweet🤗
Maybe all the fiber slowed the insulin response. Also, do you not have dawn effect? I sure do!
I used to but not recently
