To be fair, England at least made it to the semifinal of the World Cup 2018 and were silver medallists in Euro 2020.

Jason ol' boy, France has won the World Cup in 2018. Were finalists in the World Cup. Won the European Nations League in 2020.
Beaten quarterfinalists on penalties in Euro 2020.
In short, they've actually been consistent internationally and have silverware. They're allowed the occasional blip.
They also played against a savvy Ralf Rangnick led Austria who are stronger than Serbia.
And only won coz of an own goal

Cundy is right but props to Austria they worked their socks off and pressed from the first minute which is labouring at its best. Not scared to pick up a card either.
I think they were unlucky not to get a draw. Maybe we would of been critical of england if we put in that performance but take nothing away from Austria.
The other point is its not arrogant to think England should win something. We have some great players who play in the best league in the world. We came close 2x last couple of years but a lack of fitness and desire (bit of bottle as well) seemed to of derailed that.

Not really fair to compare France's performance to England's. Austria are a much better outfit than Serbia, they play aggressive football and usually control possession, Serbia are known for sitting back and their manager is way below Rangnick's level. England barely touched the ball in the second half, whereas France were always threatening. Serbia just been beaten 4-0 by Russia and then share almost 50% possession of the ball with England..

Absolute nonsense, Austria played very well and still France were the more dangerous side and kept pushing on even after the first goal. England dominated Serbia for a about half an hour and then just went defensive. Had France played Serbia they'd have scored more and England would've struggled against Austria.

France missed a few chances. But compared to hoof it England in the 2nd half they at least put a few passes together.
