I somehow managed to grab one of the free shipping slots. Got mine last week, it is fantastic! Already my favorite. I will throw out there, they also sent an adorable handwritten thank you note, it was really appreciated!
Thanks for highlighting our national cocktail Anders! It’s such an iconic Sling that has now evolved into other forms in many cocktails bars here in Singapore! - From a grateful Singaporean viewer. ps - Congrats on the sponsorship with Tanglin. They have done really well here and around South East Asia. I am so excited to see it being appreciated all over the world now.
We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive...." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas.
Hi Anders, I tried your 2.0 version (I'm a big fan of the classic Singapore Sling), and I must admit it's a killer. For my personal taste, I would cut back a little bit the Benedictine (0.5 oz instead of 1oz) and just add a touch of the soda water for the bubble... but a GREAT alternative when you ran out of pineapple juice and you STILL want a Singapore Sling. THANK YOU. Great variation. Keep on doing these, I really like your content. Cheers from Paris, France !
The second is my favorite by far. Keep the cocktails coming. You haven’t steered me in the wrong direction yet. I have yet to have a cocktail that I didn’t like from your channel. You did never disappoint!
I happen to have lived for the last 6 years in the home of Tanglin Gin and the Singapore sling. The covid response here has been very, very strict but has also kept us relatively very safe on global terms. But we have been locked down pretty much since Mar 2020. I have so far had 3 "covid hobbies" to keep me sane, one of which is classic cocktails all thanks to your channel. It is fun, it has led me down rabbitholes of research, and it has given me something to look forward to every weekend. Your channel is well made, informative, approachable and friendly... everyone tells you this. But in these weird times we are living it has also been more to me, and I suspect others. Regardless of the future of the channel, please remember you have made a difference in my sanity, and I am sure in many others as well. Love your work, both of you! Cheers & "to the bar!"..
Anders: “It’s that simple. You just need to have a whole liquor cabinet” Me: “Wow this may be the first cocktail video that I happen to have all the ingredients for!”
Love what you do Anders! I’ve taken up making craft cocktails because of your videos. I ordered the Tanglin Gin from Curiada and they sent me a handwritten note thanking me for ordering and it said they had a great time working with you. So cool!
I honestly just realized that he's under 100k subs. The quality of production, the videos and how likable he is, if anyone would ask me I'd say couple hundred k for sure!
I love a sling! Had my first on the rooftop of the Fullerton Bay Hotel in Singapore. Also, it's a small touch but I really appreciate you including the measurements in mls!
Congrats to the second recipe, amazing work Anders. I use a similar spec, but with orange bitters in place of the Angustura, and a little less Benedictine. Some old recipes use both bitters actually. Have a nice weekend. 🏖
Thanks, David! I contemplated using an orange bitters for the second, but already had the Ango from the first recipe. Amazing how many different takes you can do with this drink. Cheers my friend - happy Friday! 🍹
Was it everything you'd hoped? I was excited to have a Piña Colada at its birthplace, Barrachina in Puerto Rico. Cases of Dole Pineapple juice and Coco Lopez stacked all over and rows of countertop frozen drink machines: a splash of rum, shlurp some of the frozen stuff into the glass 😟
Congratulations on your sponsorship! Super excited to try the black powder gin. I have alllllmost everything to make this one. Seems to be my cocktail story every time 😄
Congratulations for the sponsorship! Thank you for the support for my country's first distillery and great job on the amazing presentations of the Singapore Sling. Love from Singapore!
Was waiting for the 1oz of Angostura after you said equal parts.. lol. Very well done, and congrats on the sponsorship! I was nervous seeing this video was sponsored, but the passion you radiate in your content makes you come off as truly genuine. Can't wait for the next video!
Great video! I’ve watched all your videos and I’m always excited to see your new ones on Friday! Keep up the great content! Thank you for all the effort you put in, it’s great content and I’m happy to see you getting the recognition and rewards from it! Cheers!
PLEASE do a video on how you make a Bahama Mama. It's one of my favorite summer time drinks and I'd like to enjoy your version of it before the warm weather goes away. Thanks!
So happy you made the video I asked for! And I'm also happy you're doing so well, I've been a subscriber since the early days. Keep up with the great work!
Great video as always Anders! Definitely trying your version! Signapore sling is a drink I've tried so many versions and never found one I like. Yours might be a winner for me! Cheers!
I love hearing the mysterious history of this drink and the videography and interplay of light when "building" the drink was absolutely beautiful! And sponsorship is a big deal! Way to go Andres et al.!
I stepped up my game under the lockdown last year . I went from 3 bottles to 30 or so. You helped out with that by watching your videos. Making quality cocktails hurts the pocket a little but so rewarding when you take that sip . A big fan of Ward 8.
Niiiiice! My wife and I flew to Japan on Singapore Air and we ordered about 4 of these on the flight! :-) It was so good. I'm looking forward to adding this to my home menu! Thanks, Anders!
Anders! discovered your channel a few weeks ago. Absolutely loving it. You're so clear and concise with your recipes and you package it up in such an entertaining way. I feel like I'm learning to mix cocktails from you the same way I learned how to cook from Alton Brown. Keep up the great work! With colder weather just around the corner I'd love to see your take on a Hot Toddy! P.S. ordered and then made my first Negronis this week after seeing your episode and I'm now officially a Negroni fan...
Awesome dude you inspired me to make Drinks at home and I’m fully invested in it now and making good stuff … old fashioned has become my favourite one now
Made both versions for movie night. Both are great. Took the 2.0 and added 2 dashes of clove bitters. If you're keen to, I strongly recommend trying them.
Watching this from Singapore! Coincidentally, my last cocktail out was the Singapore Sling at Long Bar just before dining out was restricted. It’s resumed now, so “to the bar!” as you say. Love the content and really enjoy your videos!
I completely get the tiki vs classic style… one for a summery afternoon the other one for a fall evening before or after dinner drink… nice to have some seasonal transitional cocktails. ;)
I don't know why it took me so long to subscribe since I've been watching you make some of my favorite drinks for weeks now! The Singapore sling did "officially" originate in Raffles but it's suspected to have come from a local, what now would be called, a dive bar. Raffles is still super nice and if you ever travel there, make sure to head 565° Fahrenheit for a great steak! Miss that place. Cheers!
Anders, great videos. You should consider a series for those recipes where one minor change in ingredients converts the drink into another one (eg Long Island-> Grateful Dead). Maybe add to comparable sips?
Your are right about everyone having a different recipe. I have 13 different recipes for the Singapore sling, well now 15. It is amazing how many different recipes there are. I have to tease you when are you doing a Malort cocktail (living in Chicago), or a Tom and Jerry (Another Wisconsin favorite), or an aquavit cocktail (your namesake). Love your channel both you and Az produce high quality content.
@@AndersErickson My current favorite is from Smugglers cove and is found in their book. But I also like a recipe from the Educated Barfly that he made recently the one made with London Dry Gin.
Wonderful that you are working with Tanglin. 😃 Hopefully they will be later known as one of the first brands to sponsor you. Great work as always. Cheers Anders!
So proud of you, congrats! Your channel is great. I was begging for months so thank you very much for making a Singapore sling. Really appreciate it. I am absolutely trying your 2.0 Version soon. Can’t wait! 😎
Way late on this but super excited because i recently (FINALLY) crossed the border from Canada to US and brought back a bottle of Cherry Herring. (You will NOT find Cherry heering anywhere on the east coast in Canada, probably the West coast too). I saw the official IBA recipe and noticed the whopping 4 oz of pineapple juice?? I like your idea of 1 oz. and totally gonna try your equal parts 2.0 version. Cheers!
Anders, I've done a lot of experimenting with this drink, and my favorite recipe (my two cents) is: 1 3/4 oz. gin (I like Tanqueray) 3 oz. pineapple juice 1/2 oz. Cointreau 1/2 oz. Benadictine 1/4 oz. Cherry Heering Angostura bitters I've found that Cherry Heering is a very dominant flavor, so I cut way back on it, and now, according to my taste buds, the drink is perfectly balanced.
I remember Don the Beachcomber from LA in the 60s. At that time, he was mostly a TV announcer. Never knew what he did before, till I started watching your channel.
Only the best of the best get put on note cards and enter the repertoire. This did it (first recipe, haven't tried #2 yet). The gin hits you first, then the cherry, pineapple, lime and last, the herbs and so pretty. As you drink, the herbs move up to first, like a fruity Last Word.
I live in Portland, Oregon. I think your videos are getting people who haven't been cocktail makers into making their own drinks. I tried to buy some ingredients for the Tradewinds and they were sold out of both the Gifford (apricot Liquer) and the dark rum. The store manager said they'd burnt through a couple boxes of both recently. Long story short I think you're a great person to be associate with anybody's liquor sales. Please keep producin the great content--it's all high end and so applicable.
Pineapple doesn't always play well with my tongue, so I appreciate the updated version without all the juice. Looking forward to trying it out sometime.
I've notice in the video of a Raffles bartender includes Cointreau. I'd never tasted any of these before and they are all delicious but I discovered last night that the combination of Heering Cherry, Benedictine, and Clément Creole Schrubb is spectacular. I have actually not made the Singapore Sling yet but will be experimenting with Pineapple or not and seltzer or not.
So I tried the traditional recipe of four ounces of pineapple juice, and yeah, that just overpowers it. So I dialed it back to 1.5 ounces, and upped the Benedictine and triple sec to half an ounce, and that made it just as refreshing but much more complex. Thanks for the video!
Anders, I just love all your videos and the way you approach them. In few weeks, I am organizing a cocktail party with my wife's and my friends. We are thinking of offering your version of Piña Colada and a version of Cuba Libre. Is Cuba Libre too simple for you to make video of? if not, I would love to see your way of doing it. P.S. Corpse Reviver #2 is the bomb!

Hah! Finally i'm first! Keep up the good work Anders!
Cheers, Lars! Thank you!
Great video as always Anders! Love it
I am shocked and impressed at the same time- ure the only guy in the western hemisphere that can pronounce the “NG’’ sound….😃 in words or names👏👏👏
