The Towers and the Concorde, both gone, but alive in our memories

Soo true😢😢😢😢 long live the beloved Concorde

That Aer Lingus MD-11 landing was rough
it was a common problem for a DC-10 and MD-10 to land with a "jump". I dont know why, but I ve seen it a lot.

It's nostalgic to see the Concorde and the Twins, and know that both now don't exist 😭
P.D I loved the 757 from Avianca 🇨🇴
The Concorde still exists technically, it just can't fly. If you wanna see it, google "Sinsheim Technikmuseum" The Concorde and the Tu144 are there, it's pretty cool :)

Haven’t seen anyone comment this yet, but the DC-10 at 3:05 was the last DC-10 to ever operate a commercial passenger flight in 2014.
Commercial passenger flight that is DC10's still do cargo to this day
@@yajae26 fixed it. That’s what I meant haha.
At 18:15 you see the Concorde and the original World Trade Center. Two beautiful works of engineering, both of which are no longer here today :(
It's heartbreaking to think that if 9/11 had not happened, the Concorde may have flown for many more years.
Maybe the concord had nothing to do with the attacks ?
@@mrandrossguy9871 the slump in travel demand and economic downturn caused by 9/11 was a big part of why the Concorde was retired so early
@@globalaviator7350 Concorde would've died either way. Running costs were insane. If it wasn't for 9/11, the 2008 financial crisis would've killed it off anyway. Tough to accept, but thats just how it is.
Indeed that is true. The aftermath of 9/11 really hit the Concorde service hard, probably more so than the Air France Concorde crash. A lot of the typical Concorde passengers were the kind that worked in lower Manhattan including the World Trade Centre. Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, were typical Concorde flyers and especially Cantor Fitzgerald who almost all of their staff were killed in the North Tower.
@@surrealtom
It’s still valuable time lost for Concorde. It really would’ve been nice to see her fly for longer.
2:05 The plane of VASP!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
By far the largest variety of planes in aviation history. It was all downhill from here. Soon it'll be all A220s, A320s, A330s and 737s, 787s and 777s
A350
and the A350's
Some 747s and 767s will continue to operate as freighers in the future
It really is sad that airline fleets are pretty much being homogenized and the only difference is the airline livery...
Those are old planes
Seeing the Twin Towers in the background breaks my heart.
Mine too 😢
RIP to all those aircraft (especially the Concorde) and the Twin Towers. While 9/11 could've been prevented, the Concorde was pretty much doomed to die off anyway due to it being an economic nightmare.
If anything the recession of the late 2000's would've been the final nail in the coffin for the Concorde had the 9/11 plot ended up being foiled, and the last flight ever would've been around late 2009 or early 2010. It would've served a good 33 years of traveling through the skies.
18:15 The iconic Concorde Infront of the Twin Towers, Before they were destroyed
That Concorde wasn’t destroyed, crashed, or scrapped. You mean the F-BTSC, that’s the one that crashed & F-BVFD, that’s the one that scrapped.
Ah yes’m the good old days when airline traffic was actually interesting. I miss Concorde and those Tri-holers and DC-8s, wish I got to see them.
Now we have the choice between twin engines airbus or twin props Dash-8s,HOORAY!!! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤢🤢

I'm so happy to have flown on one of these. Only once when I was a kid on Delta Airlines to Atlanta.. As a young adult I did also get to fly on the 747 four times with United airlines. That was fun, and I'm glad I got to do that, especially due to the fact they're all but retired from passenger service.

Yeah but not for too long...a lot of 767 are retiring this year..

Crazy that her sister, N189DN is also still in service for Delta. i’ve seen N188DN & N189DN fly by cali few times. N189DN is famously known as “Delta 1989” she was thought to be another suspected hijacked aircraft during 9/11. N189DN took off from Boston within the same time as American 11 & United 175 and She was also in the same frequency as UA175 & UA93.

Sadly 9/11 have led to economic recession which many airlines that last longed in 1910s-2001 have went bankrupted and cutting costs. Such airlines like TWA,Swissair,Sebena Aloha Airlines and more have been affected. But others like United,Delta,American,British Airways,Alitalia,Air France,Aeroflot,Aeromexico and most airlines managed to survive and continued on to the present
Airline Fleets have been affected Concorde ceases operating and L 1011 have been affected (most likely)
Swiss still exists.
@@afcgeo882 Swissair and Swiss are different airlines.
rm brooklyn yeah and the remnants of SwissAir merge to Swiss airlines
@@rmknicks It really isn’t. When Swissair went bankrupt, all of its assets and operations were transferred to its subsidiary, Crossair. Crossair was re-named Swiss International Airlines in 2002. So it was the same company as it is now, but under different ownership. To that end, American, Delta, AlItalia, British, Air France and United are all far more different airlines today versus 2000 than Swiss is today versus Swissair in 2000.
@@afcgeo882 Just lookig at Swissair and Crossair, this is correct. But todays company as such hasn't much more to do with Swissair than that. Swissair was part of the SairGroup which included a lot of support brands like SR Technics and GateGourmet. And these brands were either sold or ended in liquidation after the "new" Swiss started operations in 2002. So in the end it's not really the same company as im 2000.

Awesome video, and I can't believe such aviation interest was to be had in the everyday just two decades ago. Our world is so much duller now,
Back when tri-holers carried people and not just freight.

Why was it so so so much better back then?! It's all small to mid size planes now and they're all boring. It's just the same stuff all the time 😔 We want Concorde back, the 747s back, the MD11 and DC10s. It was so great plane spotting back then. the Austrian A340 in the beginning :-) greetings from Vienna VIE/LOWW :-)
Loving these videos. I was 22 in 2000 and given that I was born, raised and still live in the Scottish highlands, I’ve never been lucky enough to fly in any of the classic aircraft that I love - any of the gorgeous 747s, the DC10/MD11, the 727 - I love these classic ladies. Today’s aircraft, although cleaner and better for the skies, just don’t have the same character as the older girls. Airbus aircraft, even back in the 90s, have always been so bloody ugly looking. Gimme an American Boeing any day! I’m 44 now and my kids are grown and my husband doesn’t understand my obsession with aircraft, but I swear if I win the lottery I’m buying myself a ticket across the Atlantic in the only 747 I’ll get to experience, the 800, and I’m gonna go to the Boeing factory at Everett. That’s been my dream for years but so far I’ve not managed to go......hopefully this year 👍🏻❤️
At least you were alive when those planes were around
Im the same age and I used to work for a legacy carrier so I got to see and travel on the old girls - while the older planes had more "character" , the pax experience in for eg. Business Class in 2022, is miles ahead of where it was in 2000.
The 748 is not leaps above the 744 in terms of pax experience, but I would still recommend a one way trip on the upper deck in a private pod.
You can still fly Lufthansa 747-400 to Pearson and Boston!
18:14 is the best moment i ever seen both are gone now
I could not behold this bygone era of aviation, but man i wish i did. All those interesting aircraft, companies... Such a shame i was not born back then...
LOVED this period-when trijets and quads ruled the skies!
This was an aviation lovers paradise!!! Seeing all the sexy jets and the wide diversity of aircraft to admire
