Hi Zak, what is your take on using head halters for a dog that pulls? I have mobility issues and I find a figure 8 halter to be really effective in making sure my dog doesn't accidentally pull me off balance while walking him. Thanks!

When I try to brush him he starts screaming even before I touch him and almost starts attacking me (again :-( ) I wish you could do a video in the future on how to gain trust (especially of traumatized rescue dogs) Anyways your videos always motivate me and provide some helpful tips. Hey Zach, we have two standard poodle female littermates born Oct. 9, which we brought home Christmas Eve. We are having house breaking problems. We have followed all your suggestions, walk on a regular schedule, lots of praise and treats for going outside, etc. and they know to go outside, but they still go in the house. You talked about introducing the house to them slowly, and because of their problems to this day they're only allowed in the kitchen and living room. They won't go in their crate, but will go right next to it. They're in the crate most weekdays for 3-4 hours and they once had to stay for 8 hours and they will NEVER have an accident there, so we know they can hold it. Meanwhile, just this morning they both pooped in the house not a half hour after their 2nd walk of the day, having gone during the walk! We had two peeing accidents too. Their walks are sufficiently long and they're given plenty of time to run and play outside, so it's not a lack of exercise. Please help!

Jupiter Gacha! ランダムカラス Yes. The positive reinforcement trainer that couldn’t be more negative towards anyone who doesn’t kiss his ass. I liked his videos at first, but then they just became the same thing everyday. If you don’t agree on every point or if God forbid you ask a question, he tells you to follow someone else. He’s not interested in helping pet owners at all. Just makes videos for his own ego. Anyone can get a dog to follow them on a long line if they run away from the dog. What else can he do? I’m genuinely curious, not being a dick. I don’t get offended by different opinions.

@@trooper5744 you couldn't be more right. I'm not saying Zak is the best ever but the self titled Dr isn't great at all. His own dog resource guarded the couch, bit him and he cannot stop the dog barking in the house. This was all documented in his early TH-cam career but he's removed the evidy now. I can't believe he has the nerve to scold Zak for having some of the same issues with Inertia. Do you know he has people in his discord tell him what he needs to know for a video then films it like he knows everything. Or better yet... Did you know that when he was a dog walker (is he anything more now?) he pretended to be a trainer and placed a dog aggressive dog in a multidog household. The dog was euthanized at a shelter after attacking the other dog. He has never taken responsibility for that yet he's all about accountability. The dogs name was Zinga.
And yes, he claims other trainers should use positive reinforcement on people but is absolutely abhorrent to anyone in the comments that dares ask a question or make a suggestion. He's a piece of work that guy.

I taught my dog to shake shake shake after her bath. I'd pull the shower curtain closed and say shake shake shake to get her to shake INSIDE the shower to avoid getting water everywhere and then let her jump out and into a big towel. Her fave part of a bath is the toweling off process, so it was a reward in itself. Plus, more attention from me. lol It helps that she's a lab mix and loves water!
I also taught my dog beg, which looks similar to your look pretty. It was pretty easy for her and she seems to actually like to do it, which made it even easier. She loves learning. Even at 12, she's still ready to learn. I'm currently trying to teach her the difference between Quiet Speak and Speak (kinda like inside voice vs outside voice). She does pretty well. She loves praise and attention more than treats, so it's pretty easy with her.

I think drag toys are better for puppies, because that associates the reinforcement more with YOU than teaching the dog that the prize is "out there" in the environment. No question, Inertia and you can become a great frisbee team! I wouldn't rush it though. Dog's shouldn't be jumping and leaping around til 18 months or more, as their skeleton is loosie goosie til then. Another reason a drag toy is great at first is it prevents undesirable rehearsals of imperfect retrieves.

She's three now. FWIW, my challenges remain calmness when people visit, barking at other dogs walking by the house and heeling on a walk. Frisbee and fetch? She was born to do that.

Does inertia pull on lead and if so how do you stop it?
My dog is almost2 and has problems with his back legs. And pulls on lead, we can no longer walk him on lead because it hurts him, and he doesn’t always return when we call him. Is there anything I can do so he walks better on lead?

With a nervous bath time pup: dilute shampoo in a larger amount of water and apply diluted shampoo directly to the dog so there is one less step for them. No need to pre wet the dog if you have diluted shampoo.

Hi ! My husband and I just recently adopted a 8 week old pup. I have been watching and following your puppy training videos but one thing concerns me. She is shaking alot when I'm near her or she'll run and tuck herself in corners shaking and won't make basic eye contact. Is this something to worry about ? What can I do about it?

We have same litter siblings, and none of the supposed littermate syndrome behavior, but I did read up on it beforehand. They have separate everything, and one is mine, the other my husband’s. Though we do each spend time working with the other’s dog. They will be 3 next week.

Hi Zak, I am getting a new mini schnauzer puppy in about two weeks:) having watched some of your videos I’m beginning to realize that I will be required to spend a lot of time on the floor with him. My problem is that I am somewhat disabled after having multiple knee surgeries and will find it difficult to get down on the floor with him. Do you have any suggestions that might help?

I want to enter my dog in barn hunts and he did very well in his first trial, but he marks all the time. How can I stop him from doing this on the haybales? He knows not to do it in the house, but he's very sneaky and I can't catch him doing it. Do you have any ideas?
