I'm shocked that so many people really like this book. The author romanticizes violence and misogyny. Tiernan of the whole book is beaten, humiliated and tried to rape. And people are arguing with whom she should have stayed? Seriously? This book can only be read if you want something dirty, but it shouldn't be romanticized in any case. The whole book is full of red flags. And I'll remind you, her uncle fucked her. Maybe not a blood uncle, but still an uncle! And Kaleb almost raped her the first time they met! Oh, that's so romantic. 🤮
I totally agree with you ..this novel is fucked up in every way and shouldn't be romanticized in any way. I don't get what kind of taste people have these days
@stutii00 It makes me very sad that the dirtiest and most disgusting books are most often written by women. Women romanticize violence against women. It's very sad.
@KBeez Are you serious? It's a dark book, with messed-up characters, reflecting that we live in a messed-up world. Not every romance is supposed to be vanilla. People are damaged in reality and that's what the book reflects. If you read the afterword to her newest book you'd see why she writes what she writes, and it's nothing to do with 'misogyny'. Try again.

She portrayed those messed-up characters in a romantic way and make it seem nicer than it is. It'd not be a problem if she like actually make it seem the way it is.
I think there's a difference between leaving judgement out the door and having a good time with a not-really good book - its amazing, we should all do that sometimes - and straight up normalizing abuse. I mean this book is just wrong :( he absolutely ignores her "no", almost rapes her, calls her "slut", WRITES IT ON HER FORHEAD and spits on her. Shouldn't we take it more seriously?
It's fiction. So no, I don't agree.
@julkakoczowska4615 Women really do suffer at the hands of abusive douchebags in real life. Art reflects reality. If you think the book glorifies it then you don't have any close-reading skills. It isn't too much of a stretch to see Tiernan as an unreliable narrator, naive, confused and transplanted from the big city to a rural backwoods she is totally unprepared for. She's gaslighting herself as a coping mechanism.
I agree it’s so wrong that this author wrote about this. There are real victims in the world. This is horrible!

I liked it but also didn’t. Was abusive af and it really doesn’t make sense how they started getting feelings for one another because it was all toxic and then “I love him”. Like how? He basically r*apes her the first time they meet. He spits on her, writes “slut” on her head. Slaps her. Destroys her furniture she just finished by burning it. Still refuses to talk to her after they’ve been together for two months and Cici walks up pregnant. He refuses to say or write down that it wasn’t his kid. Idfk. I had a hard time in general with him.
Bro, I had a hard time around every character. That Noah, he acts like a sweet innocent but straight MF. Their threesome scene is haunting me. I thought he would be soft with her. But what the hell was that? And tell me one thing. How can an 18 year old enjoy getting anal for the first time where she is getting penetrated by another brother? Oh, not to mention they didn’t use any lube. Is it even believable? And that Uncle Jack, what's wrong with him? He vanished that day. He very well knew what his sons intended too. Like wow! That's what a sensible guardian should do.
I mean my inner self is yelling “stop this madness it’s all kinds of twisted” but damn this book could not put it down… so good🤯

I'm wondering, are men normally this horny or is it the writer who makes it sound so? The three men of this book. What's wrong with them? They are horny 24/7. They are so horny that a confused unloved teen girl who just lost her parents came to their home and they couldn’t wait a week before screwing her over. Yes the writer gave her a happy ending. Imagine this happening in the real world. The girl would be traumatized for the rest of her life. I couldn’t like a single man in this book. Yuk 🤮
I stayed up until 5 am reading this book 🙄 .. I feel like I have issues for loving this book. This is my first Penelope Douglas book and I’m afraid to read more cuz I don’t know if I’ll be able (or willing) to come up for air. Ugghhhhhh … but I’m going to continue anyways

I really liked it, and was very happy with the ending... I guess there are some mixing feelings about it but I think she picked the right guy! My only issue with this book is that it is so unbelievable. But I still really enjoyed it.. man that couch scene tho 😳🔥

I HATED CREDENCE.
I love Penelope's work, I mean the book is good, but it hated it so much lmao. I couldn't even finish it, there was too much abuse, sexual harassment and intercourse with a minor. It was too much for me.
However I can see why there's a lot of people that loved Credence. Pen is a genius.
I actually loovveeddd this book, Penelope douglas is an amazing author & I love everything she writes but I HATE the fact that tiernan always referred to jake as her uncle😫

Loved it, just finished myself. I was back and forth between Kaleb and Noah the entire time until the car scene. There was something about it that made me realize there was so much more to how he felt. But, I almost cried when I feared that he wouldn't be able to be/do what she needed him to. But that ending, and the epilogue were perfect!
Love the reference to JT Racing was awesome (for those who've read her Fall Away Series). Can't wait until her next Hell Bent series comes out. Thank you for introducing me to here with Corrupt BTW.

Initially i was like there is no way on earth i m reading that....but then i literally devoured that book in a day this book was pure madness it kept me hooked the entire time i was reading its definitely not for everyone though especially if you like fluffy romance

I can't say I liked this book. It felt like a thriller book disguised as a romance. It could genuinely do really well as a horror story with some tweaking.

I can't read this 😭😭 I don't like harem or reverse harem stories.... that's it, right? That's what Credence is? Like I don't like when there is more than 2 people being romantically and sexually involved... like I just want to read romance between two people.... Her most shocking book to me (because I never read Credence) is Corrupt (Devil's Night #1). I also loved Bully and Punk 57 so much.
Blahhh yes that's *technically* maybe what it is, but I promise it's really not like a traditional reverse harem. There's actually a really beautiful story beneath it all! I'd seriously recommend giving it a try, especially if you've loved her other books!
this was my first ever penelope douglas book and all i can say…..i can’t wait for more!! this book was truly 13/10! i loved the ending, it was such a wild ride to get there but so happy with how it turned out. wish i could read it again for the first time!
Will def one of my guilty pleasure books. I still think some aspect of this book is great: spiciness, some quotable quotes (i love the 3 Ls) . I def cried at the end. BUTTTT, NOAH DESERVES MORE!!!!! I still cant believe on who she chose at thr end. And so many questionable decisions i needed to ask everyoneee
Noah is a brat. Why would he deserve more? He could have made love to her. Instead he chose to screw her with his brother on his bed. He deserved way worse.

IFL it! 🥰This is my first Penelope Douglas book. It was an impulse buy at Target. And I was NOT disappointed. Definitely not for everyone, but I loved every bit of it.
And again, I gotta bent out about that uncle Jack more. Like bro what's wrong with you? You took her virginity whereas you don’t even want to keep her. It's not just sex bro. She is never gonna forget you. Why on the earth a 40 year old do that to an 18 year old if he is not madly in love with her and wants to keep her? I love age gap romance, usually the male lead is obsessed and can't forget the girl. So I kinda justify it in the name of love. But this uncle Jack. He is the worst. He didn’t love her, had no intention to love her, he wasn’t even obsessed. He was just hard around her and she reminded him of his dead 18 year old ex gf. Like kuddos man! You are the most f**ked up character I have came across a long time. This man should have been killed by the end of the book. Real predator and groomer.
