  • Where can you get up close and personal with a colossal squid, a sea monster from the deep? You might want to pay a visit to Te Papa, New Zealand’s national museum, which contains the world’s only preserved complete colossal squid specimen. This squid was discovered in the Antarctic, and is the heaviest invertebrate in the world, with lengths up to 20 feet and weighing up to a thousand pounds. Now that’s a creature you don’t want to mess with.

      The "we know more about moon's surface" line ain't true, when you got amateur capturing UFO's on and around the moon, flashes, clouds, etc. etc. Meanwhile NASA claims they can't turn any telescope towards the moon. ;) xD But i get your point. Keep up the good work!

    From what I understand the modern legend of giant squid came from beached sperm whales that had extremely large scars that we had no discernible origin. Since sperm whales are huge, the question became what the hell is big enough to cause that much damage to sperm whales. Answer? Colossal squids beak. If am I wrong about this then please someone correct me, I always thought it was a pretty cool story. I personally believe that now knowing what we do that the possibility of the Kraken existing is much more likely

      Lots of the damage come from the hooks on the suckers of the squid. Giant squid or colossal squid.

    • @illiadmcswain3956
      @illiadmcswain3956 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Most of the scaring comes from the "toothed" suckers that latch onto the whales' body as it struggles in the mouth of it's known predator.

      it ain't a modern legend thought. it's an ancient scandinavian legend of an unknown cephalopod of significantly exaggerated size that would occasionally attack small ships. and then persisted long enough into modern age as a cryptid

      The chance of a massive squid, ones that can crush a shark or human in an instance, are next to none. Just like the megalodon still exisiting. It would of been found by now + it would have trouble maintaing that size. Squids would also face predation issues, the only defence they have is their beaks.

      Given enough time adaptation makes nature almost perfect in certain tasks, look at the squeeze force of an adult anaconda, look at the claw length extension of a Amur Tiger, insta task complete all without guidance nature made a often for the other creature "painful situation." for the prey but those 2 examples shows you it true power is beyond a human thinking of terms of strength and power.
