I saw your response on that FB post. I was hoping you would get it. I honestly prefer the boulder opals with the iron stone swirls through it. The patterns in the iron stone is crazy awesome. Some of the patterns cut and polished alone would make really nice pendants. I hope you some videos working on the rubs and the beginners parcels. You got a real steal on this purchase. I'd love to see what you do with them. I agree Nick is great both with the boulder opal and his art.
Nice video, Roy. I have not done much boulder opal, probably because I have not had a lot and every time I cut it, I have to clean the machine and that's a big job. I do like it, though. Koroit is my favorite, but I have a nice pipe that I got in Tucson. It's crazy beautiful. What I like about your parcel is that there are stones with seams that go either all of the way through or almost all of the way. Thanks for showing us this! dp
Cutting Boulder opal is certainly a lifestyle and involves a fair bit of cleaning when it comes to wheels. Not quite so bad with flat laps and carving bit still leaves a fair staining. I just picked up an interesting parcel from the USA in the PO Box... time to get the camera rolling.
Hi Roy. What a gobsmacking parcel. Congratulations! (Wish they were mine. I'd flat out lie and say I'd done 'em!). LOL. I think others have been disappointed with some parcels purchased. Thank goodness for reputable opal dealers. Love the junk bits. I just have a thing for boulder opal, I guess.........😂
Well lucky a few of these will be headed your way. I think I have nearly everything I need to finish off your parcel. Just waiting for another item in the post. Should be here this week.
Opal is great, koroit is spiritual... The first piece that I ever cut was a hunk of Koroit. Finding those first green flames was like I had discovered a new world. Thank you for sharing your opal experiences with the world.
Amazing find. Gem shows in Northern California would sell pieces individually, for a combined price of $4-5,000 US. Years ago, I would pick up 50 pound bags of ironstone opal and give pieces away as paperweights, worry stones, etc. Amazed to see how much this stuff can go for now.
Worry stones are those ones that you rub with your thumb aren't they? I always forget I want to make a long term video trying to polish an opal with my thumb. Thanks for the reminder I might start it today.
Oh hell. Roy. I wrote the comment BEFORE I finished the video. Then THAT came up. Now, I have really made a complete knucklehead out of myself!!!!!! Oh well. Guess I'll crawl out from under my rock again one day! I can't believe I did that🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wow what a steal. Very nice stones. I like the Boulder opal too ,most of all I love the yowah nuts. I think they are absolutely beautiful. Anyway Roy,have a good day and keep the content coming
Hopefully these are the stones that get me into silversmithing. I feel like the tougher boulder opals will be far less likely to crack with my inexperienced setting.
Fabulous lot and wonderful video walking through each stone. I’ll have to see if Nick is open to shipping to the USA. The quality is top notch and hard to find it’s equal in the rough
I actually started out not a fan of Boulder opal. But, you changed my mind long ago. They can make some gorgeous wire woven pendants. You really scored on this package!
Ohh thats a lot of opal, and what a steal. I have to say bolder opal is not really my thing, as you say black and even white appear to be more in demand. great video 2x👍

Yeah I am very partial to the ironstone pieces with the lightning cracks through them. Has to be one of my fave styles of opal.

It is such underrated material for sure. In my top 3 opal varieties for sure!

Amazing! Is there also the cutting vids so we can see what it turned into? Sorry, new here, like it!
Hi Roy thanks for supporting what my dad Nick loves
He has good stuff and I'm hoping the mine is going to yield huge so I can get more good stuff.
@@RoysRocks it should be good this year once the excavator is fixed
Some awesome opals there man, really cool
Yeah I'm super happy. Best purchase in a while.

Haha the more comments on the video the better... I think.
I shouldn't pretend I know what youtube wants. 😂

Very cool parcel! I really love the very first stone that you showed us.
That first batch had a bunch of super winners.
Wow what a steal. Very nice stones. I like the Boulder opal too ,most of all I love the yowah nuts. I think they are absolutely beautiful. Anyway Roy,have a good day and keep the content coming
Hopefully a few good videos to come from some of these.
Nice parcels! The triangular one shows so much potential, it really got me exited. Good look cutting them
Yeah that one I have set aside and hoping for the best...
Great looking stones. Looking forward to seeing you carve these. Aloha now from Hawaii
A few underway already! 💪
Bargain Roy, great buying mate, plenty of fun to be had there. Thanks Nick Hoops
Hopefully these are the stones that get me into silversmithing. I feel like the tougher boulder opals will be far less likely to crack with my inexperienced setting.
Great pick up Roy 😊 thanks for sharing your haul and suggestions 👍
Hopefully some others can find similar bargains.
You grabbed a stonking great deal there mate. It will provide hours and hours of video content with salable stones at the end.
This is one of those instant profit parcels with the bonus of a few more weeks of boulder opal carving. Happy chappy.

I think he has sold overseas before?
I might not do every stone (since some are set aside for Nancy) but many will reappear.
Nice looking boulder opal.
Always 👌😀

I want to carve an interesting pattern on a big chunk to give the wires some channels to fit in. I havent tried it yet but feel like it should work.
@@RoysRocks I haven’t seen it done. But, you could be onto something!
Pretty good looking opal there. Seems like opal prices are highest this time of year, so looks like you found a really great deal.
I guess people like to spend cash around Christmas so prices could be a touch inflated.
Hi Roy..
Well done on your purchase..
No problem getting double your money 💴..
Have a prosperous new year..
Cheers Famo59
Tripple if I can sort out the silversmithing this year.

I think the rough is less in demand but the cut stones are pretty popular if the shops in the city are anything to go by.
looks pretty good!
Its a winner batch for sure. Just lucky no one else got it in the few months they were all up on his page
Great purchase Roy 👌
I tried black wax and oh Wow it's like concrete 😪
Stuff is certainly like cement.
What a nice score!
Yeah rare to get such a good deal in 2024.
Love me some DEALS!
Normally I miss them all but this was right time right place.
👍👍
Big thumbs up 👍
