I miss the sea so much! My next cruise is not until October. I hope someday I can take a REALLY long cruise.

I’m hoping to do a transatlantic or Panama Canal in the next few years! It’s really also going to depend on how much vacation time and overtime I can bank. It’s so beautiful out on the ocean. I love being at sea.

The medical evacuation sounds terrifying. I hope that person made it to the hospital ok.
I’m in awe of how you can just talk to people. Damn my social anxiety The conversations you have with the cast members sound very insightful, so thanks for sharing what you learn from them 💛

I am fortunate that I am an extrovert, and generally perceive myself to be decent at social interactions. It makes it a lot easier to build conversational topics with the cast, but many of the cast are also good at making conversation too! Especially if you're sitting at the bar of one of the lounges.
I also have a general curiosity of how the ships work, and if you ask questions about what folks do, they generally are happy to answer! People in general love to talk about themselves, and asking questions is a great way to keep a conversation going.
I happen to get lucky in who I talk to sometimes. Meeting Dave, Danijela, Kareem, and Lana was all a bit of luck. Not every cast member is as open to conversation, and I got lucky to meet a fair few who were. I know they were all due for vacation shortly after we debarked, and I'm hoping that we run into them again soon! Danijela was looking to retire and Lana is back on the Wonder for the Alaska season. However, after the Alaska season, Lana and Kareem will likely be moving to other ships due to some quirks of taxation and employment laws for Australian sailings. I hope to find them again soon!

How does Palo work?? I've been told 2 different things, I'm so confused.

Palo works in different ways depending on if you're doing Brunch or Dinner.
Palo Brunch is Prix Fixe - $45 USD (+ gratuity), and you can order as much as you want off of their menu (this link has the 2023 menu backtothemouse.com/index.php/palo-brunch-updated-2023/). If you decide that you want one of everything, you can get that. And it’s still the same price.
Palo Dinner has two different options. There’s a Prix Fixe menu, and an a la carte menu.
The Palo dinner Prix Fixe menu is much more limited than the brunch menu, and you get one item from each category rather than all you choose to eat (disneycruiselineblog.com/2021/06/a-look-at-the-updated-palo-menu-ahead-of-restart/).
The a la carte menu has much more variety, and we didn’t find it to be overpriced. We split an 8 oz steak, scallop entree, two sides (mushrooms and potatoes), and two desserts (chocolate and amaretto soufflés) and it was actually less than the prix fixe for the two of us. If you want to see our Palo dinner experience, it's in our "Dine Around the Disney Wonder" Vlog! (th-cam.com/video/fephkTNSwfY/w-d-xo.html)
Short version: If you’re looking at eating at Palo, I’d recommend checking out both menus for brunch and dinner and see which one suits you better, and if dinner is your preference, look at which MDR dining night you’d be willing to skip.
