    I never liked having a period. So when I got on implanon and didn't have a period I was so happy. When I first got on it I was also using it as a contraceptive, but having since discovered that I am ace/aro I no longer use it for contraception. The first one I had worked great for 3 years before being replaced, the second one I had lasted 2 and a half and then I got my period. I asked my doctor to replace it early, I thought it might be an issue but he was fine with it, especially since I am mostly using it for period management rather than contraception. He did say a new implant may not get rid of my period again, but we replaced it and I haven't had a period since. I am so blessed to be able to have a doctor who understands that hormonal contraception has so many more uses other than preventing pregnancy, and that I have such easy access to any contraception I would like to try. Modern medicine is fantastic. And just to note I had no change in period/lack of period with either first or second dose of Pfizer.

      I'm on my sixth implant, I had a similar experience, no periods for the first, and then again for the first year of my second - I had to have this replaced early due to the length and irregularity of my periods, but they then became more regular, but every couple of years I have either an extended period or extended gap which moves them a few weeks 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️
      I do miss the no period times, though using the cup makes things so much simpler! ❤️

    I've been on nexplanon for nearly 4 years. I haven't had a period in that time. Like you, I have horrible, painful periods. It is so nice to not have to bother with them.

      I've had the nexplanon implant for NINE YEARS! i just checked the dates on my cards... I cant believe its been 9 years. I've not had a period in 9 years! My current one is due for removal or replacement next month... Im considering going a month with no implant, to see what happens lol but im nervous too!

      Were you told it would work that long? When I got mine in they said it needs to be removed after 3 years. It's been 3 years now 😂 getting it taken out tomorrow morning. Don't know if I'm able to get it replaced then or if I make another appointment. Considering just being done with it, but man it's been like 2 years without a period 🙏 I don't wanna deal with it again

    I didn't know you're on the asexual spectrum. I'd love a video about that!
    I had a baby 11 months ago and because of Breastfeeding i haven't got my period back yet. It's honestly wonderful, most of my chronic health conditions have gone or reduced and I feel like I have my life back again. Plus I'm loving being a Mum too! I think once I'm done having babies I'll be on the pill like a flash. I felt very much the same as you about it, however, since becoming pregnant I have realised that periods every month for 30+ years is actually not biologically normal either!

    • @bkang
      @bkang 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I had the exact same experience!! I felt like a new woman whilst (exclusively) breastfeeding….six months of next to no chronic pain, loads of energy, stable emotions etc. It was ridiculous how good I felt!! Within a month of starting to wean my girl though it all started to come back…..I was so devastated; I’d begun to wonder if somehow maybe I was just ‘better’ you know?! But I think it was those magical breastfeeding hormones doing some magic in my body. It makes me wonder if there are bigger links between hormones and chronic health than we perhaps realise? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m still bf my baby girl now at 20 months, but my periods have returned (they came back I think after about 7/8 months?) …..however they are VASTLY improved to how they were before. I was terrified that they might be worse, as so many of my Mum friends said their periods were so awful after pregnancy, but for me they are lighter, with much less cramping etc. In fact I’d go so far as to say that for the first 2-3 days, I almost feel elated / ecstatic?! It’s a real rush of happy hormones - definitely not something I had ever experienced with my periods before 😬😂🙈👎🏻 So it’s not all bad!! Just experiencing more low moods on the fortnight leading up to it, and as I said, all my chronic symptoms have returned too. Isn’t the female body a weird and wonderful (and at times super confusing 😂) thing!! 💖💖

      @bkang 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sharonkour9721 Hi Sharon, I’m so sorry you’re going through all this!! 💖 I think firstly it would be best to speak with your Doctor. It sounds to me like your periods are irregular, and that could be down to any number of things - low weight, stress, diet, hormonal imbalance, or underlying conditions such as PCOS. And no, irregular periods are not life threatening, but they’re not very nice I agree!!
      I would definitely go and chat to your Doctor about this. They may well suggest going on the pill, but make sure you tell them all your different symptoms, and ask if you can be tested for anything that fits those symptoms. If you’re uncomfortable taking medication, tell them that - they will be able to explain any risks and benefits to you, so that you can decide for yourself. And you are still allowed to say no if it doesn’t feel like the right fit for you at this point in time.
      There are some easy, safe things you can try in your own time which might help to get things working more regularly too. Try reducing any stresses in your life if possible, getting enough sleep, and incorporating lots of healthy fats into your diet (fats from natural sources - so think avocados, plain nuts and seeds, natural coconut milk or yoghurt - CoYo is good! - fresh salmon; anything unprocessed) and get most of your sugar from natural sources too - fruit of course, and chocolate / treats naturally sweetened with coconut sugar, rice syrup etc. When I began to eat a more natural diet (eg. less processed goods and more whole foods that I cooked myself) my periods became more regular and I had less period pain (I still take painkillers, but don’t need so many!). Also drinking ginger tea can help with period pain 🧡 You may find after 2-3 months of lifestyle changes, that your periods begin to behave themselves a bit better! And if not, go back to your Doctor for sure.
      Are you Instagram? If so, check out Dr. Jolene Brighten - she’s a hormone doctor (endocrinologist) who shares lots of helpful tips about hormones, periods and how to take care of them. And check out Kimberly Snyder too - she’s a qualified nutrition expert who talks quite a lot about balancing hormones too. She’s a vegan but doesn’t require that everyone else be one too (which I appreciate!) and has lots of healthy natural food recipes on her website (plant based, if that interests you - if not that’s fine! I’m not vegan but enjoy plant based recipes from time to time ☺️).
      The bottom line is - you deserve to have your periods not take over your life!! And if something is wrong, you absolutely get to keep asking for help until someone works out what it is. The lifestyle changes are designed to support your body to do its job well, but there’s also absolutely no shame in going to a Dr and asking for help - that’s what they’re there for!! I hope you find some answers. Lots of love 💖💖

    Hi, been following you for years. I really relate to many things, I have a tilted uterus that makes my periods painful, and I had lyme and was treated and here the doctor I went to, a world specialist said being treated with doxycycline is very important it's not easy either. . . I am sure you are doing what is right for you but you can get rid of lyme. The pill helped me too. I miss it! 🎸

  • @lubeeluonline

    I wish everyone who wants the pill could get an hour with a gynaecologist! The pill is treated like a magic bullet for period issues, spots, pms etc but you get a 10 minute appointment with little to no discussion of side effects. Synthetic hormones are great. They give us reproductive autonomy (like you said, my sister had to answer some really intrusive questions about her marriage when she wanted her implant removed) but we don’t have enough information about the very long list of potential side effects. Have you read How The Pill Changes Everything by Sarah E Hill? We’ll worth a read.

    I have had a very similar experience, though I'm on the Mirena coil. Very painful periods, very unpredictable but was worried about hormonal contraception. Honestly getting the coil was one of the best decisions for me, no bad side effects only positive with a reduced period (I get spotting around 4 times a year) and barely any cramps. 3 years on and I have nothing negative to say, life changing!

    I have endo and started taking the pill continuously over a year ago and haven't had a proper period or the pain that went with them since. I do get a little spotting from time to time but it's not painful. I'm pretty sad I don't get to use my beautiful cloth pads any more though!

    I've had very similar experiences! I'm the same age and I had painful periods for years and they even seemed to get worse. I was taking a ridiculous amount of painkillers every month and I just reached the point where I'd had enough. I was hesitant to take the pill because I had tried it before (with the typical one week break) and had small side effects and it didn't help much. But this time, the doctor said I could just take it continuously and they stopped and it's amazing! Especially that the worry and anxiety around it has gone. I have the same side effects again which are mostly a bit of weight gain which I don't love. But I'm trying to accept that if this is what my body needs to be like to not be in pain every month, it's totally worth it!! Funnily enough ordered a pack of your reusable pads about a month before I went on the pill but the few times I tried them, I loved it and I'm happy I supported your business :)

    I have been having such a hard time get doctors to try and give me a real diagnosis but I fit all the signs for adeno. I would have to spend a lot of money (UShealth care) and time trying to get diagnosed. Do you think that you would have gone on the pill without an official diagnosis? Last gyno I talked to basically said that I could have endo or adeno but that it wasn't worth trying to figure it out (I asked for an ultrasound which she said would a waste of money) and that I should go on hormones.

      I had ultrasounds done, the Dr read the results and said there was nothing wrong with me. I was Googling the result just recently and it sounds like adenomyosis. I really dislike us health care. I went to a different local doctor and was told nothing will work and to get a hysterectomy, I don't have money for that. So then I found an online gynecologist who prescribed drospironone, this is the easiest period of my whole life. The medicine is similar to cerrazette and is the only other progestin only pill available in the US besides norethindrone.

I’m in Australia so Lyne isn’t recognised here, but thanks to alternative medicine I’m improving but still have a lot of symptoms. I would love for you to do some videos on your Lyme and what has helped u the most, what diet specifically, exercises etc. ❤️

    Follow Jesus Christ, Jesus died for your sins. All of us has broken his commandments, we lied, stole, lusted( if you are masterbating you are lusting after someone) commit adultery( Jesus said if you have looked at someone with lust you committed adultery), false idols , murder( Jesus said if you hate someone you are guilty of murder). God is all holy and just, so someone has to pay for these sins, and the wages of sin is death, but there is hope in Jesus Christ. He came to earth he who is God, came as a human and died on the cross a death that we deserve. Jesus was crucified, and rose on the third day. When he got up from the grave those who will repent and trust alone in Christ sins are paid for, you must repent and turn to Christ and you will be forgiven. On judgement day if you are not in Christ, there is no forgiveness of sins and you will go to hell. Please, trust in Christ alone. Jesus Christ alone. Don’t go to hell, turn away from your sins.
