I must take exception to answer to question #49, the Cuban Missile crises. It was NOT caused by our fearing that the Soviets were teaching te Cubans about Missiles, it was caused by the Soviets placing THEIR MISSILES on Cuban soil, 20 MILES from our Southern Border. The CRISES ITSELF was when American ships Intercepted Russian ones headed for Cuba and refused to allow them to continue.
Half of her answers are wrong, uninformed, and a lot are false claims that were later disproven.
Correct 💯
You are right, her answer was incorrect .
U R right. I remember we had drills at school to hide under the desk, that wouldn't help, of course.
90miles from Cuba to Key west.
4/14/24
I was 13 when the 60s began. My parents were older and very conservative. I did not like the Beatles at all or most of the other bands similar to them during that time. We discussed politics and religion at the dining room table. We watched the news on television every night. Our parents discussed world news with us; that’s how I knew the Cuban missile crisis question was incorrect. Also, I have a minor in history.
I enjoy taking these quizzes. I do not count wrong the questions where I know they have made a mistake. 😆
Atticus Finch was NOT the "darling" protagonist of To Kill a Mockingbird, because he wasn't darling. Scout was darling
TRUE!
Agreed.
I loved Scout!
Sorry, there were WAY too many inaccuracies and subjective answers to make this quiz remotely viable.
Some of these have multiple correct answers
#20 should be Scout
No, she was not the protagonist.
I object to the word "elderly"
Okay, you're overripe, feel better?
I am a proud 84 year old elderly person. Nothing wrong about being elderly .
I'm a proud nearly 80 year old functioning on all 8 cylinders. Great ful for a wonderful life well lived so far. All blips accepted.
Yes, in 1968…I got 89/100…..I am not American and some of them were pretty American focused, but all the same very proud of that score! I contest the question on To Kill a Mockingbird….the correct answer is Scout….Atticus was not the protagonist and he wasn’t a “darling”……!!
Huh? you must have read another version of to kill a mocking bird. The version I read clearly had Atticus Finch as the main character. Protagonist simply means main character.
I wonder how many even remember Small Faces
I do!!
I Steve Mariot was the lead singer, then Rod Stewart took over and changed the name to the faces
Sadly I do
Itchycoo Park
Me 2
It does help when the answer comes up before question is finished as in question 38
85 correct, and I was born in 62. Had 3 older sisters who were born in the 1940s . Learned a lot from them
Some of her answers were quite subjective but giving her grace and using her answers as correct, I got 71 right. Of those I got wrong, I had never heard of 10 of them before … and I was born in 1957. It was a lot of fun anyway.
87 right Martin Luther king was killed April 1968
To me the boob tube was a stretchy strapless woman's top made of a clingy knit fabric. The TV was " the idiot box". But I'm not American.
Absolutely right!
It went from boob tube to idiot box a decade later
True he was assisnated in 68. I got 70/100 correct.
The first talking dolls were marketed in the 1890s.
Most enjoyable for an 84 year old.
That was fun! Thanks
If you can remember the 60's you probably wernt there.
I stole that line from Grace Slick.
Not all your answers are correct. I was there.
That was fun.
It’s Diana Spencer with a C not Diana Spenser
I was born 1961. Now I’m elderly ??? I can’t believe it???
Did great. It waz fun to do!!
Yes 1968, it was fun I miss 4
91 correct, assassinated 1968. And I'm really under the weather with COVID, which was not part of the 60's. That's a 2020 phenomenon.
I agree!!!
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated on April 4, 1968. My total score: 44 out of 50. Great quiz, thank you!
Well done! :D
And he was assassinated by a police officer who was in league with the FBI. And also, Oswald did not shoot JFK. And we got into Vietnam because of a false flag, a lie. Half of her answers are now disproven.
I’m not American but I got 74/100 correct. I could add 2 if i included the answers that were not correct. Cuba missile crisis and To Kill a Mockingbird.
I did great and it was fun to do
How dare you call me elderly because I remember the sixties
Hippies and too many funerals on TV was what the 60's were like to me. John and Robert Kennedy. MLK Jr Malcome X all were assassinated in that decade.
Going way too fast for me, I don’t have time to think !!!!!!
Thanks for the feedback!
You have to know the answers in the first place in order to remember them. 😄
I was doing really well at first then every once in a while it felt like I was on Jeopardy 😆 I thought is this question something everyone should know or only for Jeapardy ready contestants, some blew pass me😮 I got a lot of them right tho. I think I did quite well. 1968 Martin Luther King was killed. My uncle died that evening got hit by cars crossing the street in the rain. I graduated HS that year.
Question 71: I first saw a microwave oven in 1973 in a factory canteen. I'd only just started there and there was an infra red oven at first, and within about a week it was replaced by a microwave, which none of us had ever heard of. You had to put a plastic key in for it to work, and it took me a while to realise that the keys were colour coded for length, so THAT'S why sometimes the food came out lukewarm. The long ones made it go on longer, obviously. Until this quiz, I thought 1973 was when microwaves were first on the market.
Score was 74. I never heard about, 10 of the questions and guessed at some.
Yes
Yes he was ,100,i was born in 1964
Well done!
83 correct. I was born in 58.
True
The peace sign was created by Gerald Holtom on behalf of the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in 1958. 11:59
Not a memory test. Many of the questions were about obscure information that few people knew about.
True I got 85 right
My dad was a guard at Alcatraz, so of course I knew that one. We never lived there, my dad commuted. I was raised in CA, but, was in NJ in 1969. I was invited to Woodstock , but, passed because I saw on TV how teens had to walk for miles to get there, no food, no sanitation & I wasn't a druggie. I got 85 right. Yes, all the answers weren't right.
I missed 7 The answer is true
“Groovy” was a word that anyone who was hip in the sixties, abhorred. And I never heard anyone even say the word “Ace.” California boy.
Sonny Bono used groovey a lot. Never heard ace used
Sonny Bono was a Jonny come lately to the 60's him and Cher were people we considered a thousand miles from being hip. We laughed at them when they first came out.

Missed 5 and bonus is true..
Not good! I missed 31. The bonus is true.
92 correct

April 4 1968 .
Yes 1968
Jean Shrimpton was dubbed the most beautiful girl in the world and top model of the 60’s not Twiggy. After Jean left modeling for acting Twiggy came on scene.
I was a young girl, but I remember her. She was a big-time model in the sixties and seventies. She was beautiful, I remember the big bangs with an updo and a big bow in the front of her hair and a tweed (I think) outfit with a beautiful helmet hat. She was in all the magazines. I remember Twiggy later on in the 60's. She was pretty, but not like Jean Shrimpton.
@@msbjpennybut she also said skinny & no one was as skinny as Twiggy.
It is all about personal choice. Jean is considered one of the first super models. Twiggy was more famous for being skinny then anything else.
True. 19 wrong, mostly music genres.
I got 70
Good job!
Looking through the comments it see quite a few answers were wrong. If you are going to set a quiz then at least get it right. And don't slant it towards america. A lot of us are not American. At least let it be known in the beginning so people like me don't waste our time
They had questions in there about the UK also. I think the idea was to just have fun with it, there were no prizes being given or anything.😐 Everything will never be for everybody. The fact that it's in English should at least be an indicator of who it may be geared toward.
88% - born in 1961
During the Cuba question. The Soviets were building nuclear facilities on Cuba.
Silos maybe.
Well, it’s easy to see that the YOUNGER lady reading those questions didn’t actually live through the 60’s. Many of those questions had little or no sway at that time in most of our young lives! And some were blatantly wrong answers that she wanted us to believe! If you weren’t a hippie you couldn’t have cared less about their dumb culture! Most of us were too busy actually going to school and WORKING!
👍🏻
Most of your answer are flat out wrrong and opinion
I would suggest the narrator practice some names/words prior to filming instead of pronouncing them atrociously. Practice makes perfect or so I'm told.
Practice makes permanent!
I would argue with question 14 Who shot J F K
Without a hadow of a doubt as the poor guy was a Patsy and paid the price with his own life.
Oswald was not a expert with a rifle.
Most of these I had no interest in knowing in the 60's so I disqualify myself . . . . groovy
There were questions in there I wasn’t expected to know as I’m not American I didn’t study their history. I don’t know much about Cuba, but I’d believe they would of been on Cubas doorstep. I don’t think I got a fair few questions wrong, but I got a lot rift as well maybe about 70 questions, so did I pass?
Don't trust her answers. A lot are wrong.
I got 87 right.
Awesome!
Object to the description 'Elderly'
This is said to be a test of memory. Yes, several of the questions have to do with remembering something that you once knew. But a lot of the questions are about things I never heard of. So is my memory lacking because I don't remember something I never heard of before? If indeed all these questions and answers are accurate, then it's a test of knowledge of the sixties, not a test of one's memory. And some of these answers are not accurate, either.
How do you get a score?
You can keep your score by yourself :)
Questions should rely on objective not subjective questions. The protests in the 60's was mostly protests against the war in Vietnam.
Soviet Union was first into space.
Everyone knows that Flash Gordon was first into space in Dr. Zarkov's ship.
1968
Brown vs Board of Education was about desegregation.
I missed 21
Did she read the questions first, please.
Answer to question eleven should be Barack Obama and Lady Diana Spencer. Since her father was Earl Spencer Diana was given the title of Lady at birth.
Score was 78 by these answers but I disagree with some of the answers given. Example… yes hippies were peace and love but they were also into protesting peacefully against political issues. Ever heard of sit in protests.
Yeah "make love not war" was their slogan. It is funny many hippies becamee Republican Sony Bono for example.
False, it was more like 1971-72, the same year RFK was assassinated if I remember correctly. I graduated from high school in 1966 and I missed 17 Questions, what was the total number of Questions?
Too slow
Many of the answers are simply not correct. The Beatles where not the idols of the flower power generation, no way, I was there Charlie.
I was there also, being born in 52. In California, it was the Beatles. Mabe different in different regions.
I agree. The first reference that I remember to flowers was actually Scott McKenzie’s If you’re going to San Francisco. The Mamas and the Papas, Turtles etc. were more about flower power than the Beatles. But we didn’t write the quiz.
Elderly???? You need to rethink your definitions.
USSR won the space race
That’s what I thought - they launched the first satellite, and sent the first man into space. The Americans were first to land on the moon, but that was more than a decade after Sputnik.
funny, we really never achieved desegration
No use to me it’s all American.
From the first question, it was not east coast language. Adios
false
Greed and corruptions worldwide. God will punish ALL. POWER TO THE PEOPLE.
Hola from Queretaro.
God will have the final word on all of us. You are not fooling anyone.
RIP Everyone Everywhere
you don't have clue. It wasn't all about black culture in the 60's
For the elderly? Gee what a great way to get subscribers by insulting them.
Terrible quiz reminds of the Teachers i had in the sixties
Very biased toward AMERICAN knowledge, not GENERAL (world-wide) knowledge.
You need to go back to v
School
Halted this quiz very early on - it is trash
