    No anesthetic gel?
In Sweden we always use anesthetic gel. It's working as lube, and with the benefit that it numbing the patiant, and making the prostate relax for easier insertion.

Great point and thanks for sharing! I have seen this practice in urology offices but not in the inpatient setting.

How come there is no chaperone with you ? A male nurse would never be able to do this to a female by himself.

Hi Tompat, since this is only a model of genitalia, there was no need for a chaperone 😉. In the clinical setting, the presence of a chaperone will depend on hospital policy, and patient and nurse comfort level.

Yeah.nurse comfort level only applies to females right.😉

If the patient has a gender preference of the nurse caring for them and/or a cultural preference, and it is feasible with staffing, efforts are usually made to honor that request, although it is not always possible. Therefore, all nurses need to know how to perform this skill in patients of both genders.

They used to have male orderlies that did this for men that didn't want female involvement. But with the rise of the modern-day feminism movement in the mid 60's & 70's, the American healthcare system decided to SCREW the male population of this country WITHOUT EVEN TELLING THEM THEY WERE DOING IT.
Women demanded the healthcare system do a better job of protecting their dignity & privacy, To accomplish this take & shut women up, they dumped all the male orderlies that took care of intimate male medical issues.
Then they made sure that up until just recently, male nurses were never allowed in Labor & Delivery.
Next, they took QUALIFIED male rad techs out of mammography so these qualified men were NOT giving women their annual mammograms.
But yet Today's healthcare system has the nerve to still refer to themselves as being Gender Neutral.
IF they were truly gender neutral, male rad techs would be actively working in Mammography & more male nurses would be allowed in Labor & delivery.
"Gender Neutral." is just another healthcare system FALLACY just like Patient-Centered-Care.
But that still wasn't enough for them.
At NIH, the Office of Research on Women's Health was established in September 1990 as the first Public Health Service office dedicated specifically to promoting women's health and sex differences research.
In the wake of the feminist movement women were still growing increasingly dissatisfied with the limited scope of mainstream medicine and vocalized a desire for changes to existing models of care to better accommodate their needs.
So, Big Brother responded to their calls yet again by establishing the Office on Women's Health within the Department of Health and Human Services in 1991.
3,600 women's health centers in the United States serving nearly 15 million women.
So what have they done for men?
No Office of Research on Men's Health in the federal government as of today. The bill to create it languished in congress for 2 years.
I can count on one hand how many all-male healthcare clinics there are in the United States.
NONE of the so-called formal channels they say are in place to file an abuse complaint against a female healthcare worker actually work. At most the women get a reprimand while the male patient has to live with the abuse she bestowed upon him.
The nurses in this office just DESTROYED this older gentlemen all to play a "JOKE" on a new employee.

What they DID DO & THEY OWN IT is when YOU replaced male orderlies with female nurses, YOU INTENTIONALLY stripped EACH & EVERY BOY & MAN IN AMERICA OF THEIR DIGNITY, RESPECT, & PRIVACY ALL in favor of female healthcare.
They blame men for not taking better care of themselves for their shorter lifespan when IN FACT the healthcare system is to blame. Men have walked away from needed care because of the way female healthcare workers treat them.
The blood of each & every one of these gentlemen is on the hands of each & every female healthcare worker working the system today.
Dr. Jared Bieniek, medical director of Hartford HealthCare’s Tallwood Men’s Health Center states “When it comes to health care, men are an underserved population.”
Over the past two decades, we’ve radically revised how we conduct medical research and take care of our female patients. And we’ve made valuable discoveries about how gender helps determine vulnerability to illness and, ultimately, the timing and causes of death.
But I now believe that we doctor and researchers may have focused too much on women. It’s time to focus on the unique problems of men just the way we have learned to do with women.
Marianne J. Legato, Founder and Director of the Partnership for Gender-Specific Medicine, Columbia University (2006)
Feminism has led to women's health issues being privileged at the expense of men & boys. When you have medical doctors saying that women get better healthcare then men you KNOW there is a PROBLEM.
"Why, is the healthcare system so damn afraid to meet half way with men & come up with solutions to these important male issues"?
Everyone KNOWS what you did. Why not FIX IT?

Catheterization is a common nursing skill and a catheter is indicatd for many acute and/or chronic urinary tract conditions. If the patient has a gender preference of the nurse caring for them, and it is feasible with staffing, efforts are usually made to honor that request, although it is not always possible. Therefore, all nurses need to know how to perform this skill in patients of both genders.
