  • Welcome to EE302, Part 4: Luminaire-Level Lighting Controls (LLLC), a Lighting Controls Association Education Express course.
Luminaire-level lighting controls (LLLC) are a lighting control option in which sensors and control functions are embedded in luminaires to enable individual luminaire control. By integrating control functionality into each luminaire, control is highly flexible, responsive, and therefore generally highly energy-saving. Additionally, significantly detailed space use data can be generated as a potential feature of centralized systems. This Education Express course describes LLLC technology, system types, advantages and disadvantages, studies characterizing energy savings and cost, and what’s familiar and distinctive in regards to design and installation.
By the end of this course, you will be able to: 1) explain the capabilities and benefits of LLLC to clients as a subset of networked lighting controls, 2) differentiate LLLC product solutions in terms of capabilities and cost, 3) match LLLC to appropriate applications, and 4) design lighting and control solutions recognizing the basics of what is required to incorporate LLLC.
This course is registered and/or recognized by NCQLP (LC), NALMCO (CLCP), DLC, and the State of California. To gain education credit, after taking the course, click here to take a quiz (free but registration required, and you must at least scroll through the written course):
