- Minisforum v3 3 in 1 windows tablet with Ryzen 7 8840u 14in 2k 165hz display is dead on arrival. Even though this is one of the best windows tablets in 2024 yet, the snapdragon x elite and the greater switch to ARM makes this tablet obsolete.

Im about 20 days in and its replaced the garbage surface 10 I bought on release.
So turns out that AMD8840u at 2Owhats is the same performance than the Apple M4 with Max TDP of 20w on the newest iPad pro on cinebench, however one can easily boost the 8840u up
to 30-37w and get even more performance more than the stock max TDP of 28w by a 10%. So this chip wipes the floor with the M4.
I don't think the snapdragon X elite will get close to the M4 performance.
Not to mention, the iGPU on the 8840 is faster than a PS4 pro, there is no way adreno gets that kind of performance either, we know the GPU on the M4 is effectively the same than the one they used on the M3 , they just have ray tracing support now, and that is nowhere close to the the i780m found in the 8840u.
Snapdragon X is still not appealing for me because of compatibility issue.
I ordered V3 and can't wait to use it in few days.
The snapdragon is an ARM processor. It cannot run games that are for windows (without glitching hard). Snapdragon is good at web browsing when emulating windows, but not for gaming applications.
I'm downvoting for bad information, I encourage anyone reading to do the same.
I received my May 1 and I sent it back May 3 because it wasn’t working. They still haven’t sent me a replacement device and they keep giving me the runaround! Can’t say it’s been a great experience!
To be honest, the SD X Elite is nice to have... yet it will still take few years to get full software to port over or be fully supported natively. Currently the V3 beats my Win Max 2 2022 (6800u) if all areas. And it's WAY better value then the surface pro 10.
I really wish arm could get better in the next few years, but the minis forum V3 tablet is wayyyyy better

Good luck, that chip is been delayed and delayed cause manufacturers have not been able to reproduce SnapDragon's claims of performance.
plus the readings in benchmark mean very little when it comes to real world, 99.999999% of windows apps are made to run on x86, so you will lose a bunch of performance due to the translation layer. and the Graphic permanence is less than half than the integrated 780m found on the AMD chip, so even if the CPU is faster, you will be bottle necked by the GPU.
mine arrived just fine
arm based tablets are completly different things and wont replace this tablet in the near future. i tested arm based tablets recently and they arent compareable with x86 based devices at all. the battery life was good yes but if they work than they suck out the battery life. on top of that nothing runs on arm. so why bothering and claiming such things

This device sounds good on paper... Up till the point you calculate the actual price with tax and all. In my case the 32gb ram version is pretty close to $2k. At this price I can buy a lenovo or asus laptop with oled screen and dedicated gpu. Or a legion go, 16 inch portable oled monitor and have enough change for a switch and a few games.
So it seems its doa simply due to its price...
2K$? it's 1200$ and comes with all the accessories you need.. plus there's coupons out there
its currently 1k thanks to their 4th anniversary sale. At this point, its on par with the lenovo 2 in 1 laptops (both yoga 7 and ideapad 5 flex) in terms with the price with the added fact that you gain 16gb more ram.
On the other hand, if you're not into tablets that much then buying a gaming laptop with the same budget is would be more solid so its just a matter of choice.
Its just a product that fills in a specific niche in the market
