THE 5 STEPS OF THE SCRAP METAL RECYCLING PROCESS
If you’re newer to scrap metal recycling, you may be wondering what goes into the process. It can be broken down into five steps: collection, separation & preparation, melting & purification, solidifying & manufacturing.
#1: Collection
The first step in scrap metal recycling is collecting items that contain metals. These can be found almost anywhere, including construction sites, industrial facilities, warehouses, landfills, and even at home!
#2: Separation & Preparation
The items are then sorted at a metal recycling facility by type of material and packaged for transportation. This is typically done by shredding, shearing, and compacting.
#3: Melting & Purification
After separation, the scrap metal is melted down and purified by steel mills. This is done in order to remove any impurities from the scrap.
#4: Solidification
The metal is cooled and formed into different shapes for future use.
#5: Manufacturing
The new metal is now ready for order. It can be taken to manufacturers, where it is made into new products.
Large businesses with in-house programs and scrap yards often employ 3rd party technical services to get their towering pile of waste in order. They either send their scrap metal to the service provider or get a technician to their site to conduct PMI tests. These tests use tailored identification methods to sort different types of scrap fast.
On the other hand, business with the right knowledge and expertise may get their own machines (like metal analyzers) to sort their scrap metal.

In this video we are scrapping for scrap metal. I do not care what kind of scrap metal I am scrapping all scrap metal. Scrap metal recycling to keep it out of the land fill.
Curious why u didnt load the small pile of scrap into the truck bed...plenty of room...eliminate a 2nd trip etc...
When I put metal in the back of my truck that is different kind of metal if it is heavy steel I put it in the back of my truck because I’ll save a pile of that and I get $.10 a pound for it so I’d rather get 10, then eight so to answer your question it’s different steel it’s called Prepared number one steel washers and dryers are shred metal bumpers hoods fenders that’s all shred seven cents a pound

It is the craziest thing. Stainless Steel is now the same price as Aluminum or even cheaper for that matter it does not make sense at all.

First time I operated a forklift I was twenty , sixty four now . Spend over a year running a electric forklift in the smelter . The roofing supply company , the manager tryed me out on one , couldn’t believe how careful I was , didn’t like the warehouse job , same thing day after day .
So now to operate anything you need a certificate , the many types of equipment I’ve run on construction over the years never took any training , just jumped on it and away you went .
The Forman trained me to run the crane , this does this , this is how to start it , shut it off , etc …..
Then he gets in his pickup and gets ready to leave , I says your not going to stick around and watch me for a bit . He says I don’t want to be anywhere around you when your running that thing . When I got going moving logs with tongs , I realized what he ment , took a week or so to get the hang of it . 🇨🇦👍

If you was in Ga I'd give you 1 of those harbor freight truck hoist that would be good to mount on a removable bracket on the side in a stake pocket back corner or any stake pocket really I've made several for a buddy of mine.

It is still stainless just magnetic stainless its not worth as much but still worth a descent amount. I've welded on a bunch of that stuff years .
