Having experienced the same thing that drove Stu to write this song, the lyrics really hit home for me. It helped me look back on it and reminisce in a comfortable way. I'm glad I got into metal, because as a genre no other music has had songs that gave me comfort during times of struggle. Thank you metal and Iced Earth. Keep it metal fellow metalheads! \m/
This is a very powerful song. Stu Block's lyrics about his mother battling cancer at the time are incredible. Stu Block is a perfect replacement for Matt Barlow. I actually love Stu Block being in Iced Earth as much as I love when Matt Barlow was in the band. All three albums that Stu has done so far with Iced Earth are amazing albums and I hope Stu Block is the final lead singer Iced Earth will ever have.
To all the people bitching, I think IE fans couldn't have asked for a better replacement for Matt! Stu's voice and range fit the band perfectly. They have also given us their best album since Horror Show IMO. Matt will be dearly missed, but Stu will carry on Iced Earth's legacy!
amazing how some bands today can still make songs with such heart and soul. this shows that even in a world of autotune and stupidity we can still have songs made with talent and feeling. we still have hope for humanity yet!
@ParadiseCityGR The thing is is, the music itself, is something I would listen to occasionally. Like Bullet for my Valentine, or Blockheead's other band, Into Eternity. It just pisses me off that THIS is the best Schafer can do. I'm used to an Iced Earthwith such emotional and powerful deliveries, it can give you chills. This is just...what's the word? Subpar.
hey guys I think that each vocalist Iced Earth had fits in their own style and in the albums they recorded.I mean each vocalist recorded the songs that perfectly fit with each one of them in the albums that perfectly fit with their style. The Framming Armaggedon is so awesome with Tim Owens voice, with songs like Ten Thousand Strong that I think it wouldn't sound that great with Matthew Barlow voice for example or songs like Dracula,I Died For You that fits perfectly with Matthew's voice and style
In my opinion, Stu Block fits Iced Earth perfectly. I really didn't believe Iced Earth could stop sucking after the last 2 albums, but the new album owns, and Stu's voice is absolutely amazing! A nice surprise :)
I'm sick of those fanboy comment... give Stu some credit damnit, he can do medium range almost like mat and can do some screaming like almost every Iced Earth singer did. this guy fit perfectly with IE sound and i can't wait to hear in on some old song like Pure Evil, Angel Holocaust or When the night fall..
Que cancion para hermosa, y segun lei en una reseña, creo que habla de la madre de Stu Block y un cancer que ella tiene. Por este tipo de canciones es que me encanta el METAL
@DavisForHeavyMetal if your not metalhead from your own, you don't need any conversion... it's either in your heart and soul, or it isn't... but i get your point, it's an awesome song..
@ParadiseCityGR No. As an entity, a band is supposed to sound a certain way. If you change the sound the band is no longer the same. This voice, and this new sound do not go with what has been established for 20+ years. I've listened to this, and while the lyrics may be okay, Blockhead is not. I accept Matthew is gone. I did from the moment he said he was departing. I have a life, thank you. But, that doesn't change that this is simply not right.
@FourChanJunkie Then perhaps you need a appointement with a ear specialist cause Jon trademark galoping guitar sound hasn't change at all in 20 year .... And if i said that its because i found little surprise nor anything really new in this dystopia cd even if i still enjoy it a little... Their isn't that much risk taken on this record and many agree that sometimes, Stu sound like a barlow clone so i do not understand your'e complaint about that unless you are a Matt fanboy....
This reminds me more of Evergrey than old-style Iced Earth... not bad, I like Evergrey very much, but not Iced Earth style. Nowhere close to Watching Over Me, I'm afraid.
This. Is. TERRIBLE. Does not fit at all. You cannot sound constipated, and like you gargle razorblades simultaneously, and still call your self a singer. I was ready to accept this new guy, Jon said he was good. I was hoping he was right. This is just Jon saying, "MIDLIFE CRISIS! I''M YOUNG AND HIP! HEAR US PLAY TEH DEATH METALZ!"

Looks like if he doesn't resign he will stay. I'm so hyped for the concert on tuesday!
When i'm tired and sad, i listen to this and it sounds like my parents saying to me: "carry on, be strong my son"..Awesome song!

amazing singing skills this guy got..
@justice160210 I remember him almost crying when talking about his mother at the prelude of the song. Awesome performance btw.

AAAARGGGGHHHHH! The day I write something like this I can die happy!

@benmesias: Exactly my opinion too. I never thought Iced Earth would ever be good again without Barlow, but Stu just fits perfectly.

Iced Earth never sucked
ωω ναι ειναι!! :')

Only Heavy Metal music can do that...
@MegaSonisphere Matt Barlow? Yeah, Stu does sound like him. A lot like him if you ask me.
i cant decide yet if he worths!!!nice song...but mat is only one!
Fuckin Stu, wow...
@FourChanJunkie Then perhaps you need a appointement with a ear specialist cause Jon trademark galoping guitar sound hasn't change at all in 20 year .... Framing Armageddon and The Crucible of Man sucked? Dude, you are way off.
