Or hear me out, you vote with your wallet? And stop buying?
I have 🗳️
Gambling is an addiction
@@Caribe_ Love the idea but it will never work. Look at sports cards. Price per box let's just say $500, EV is around $100. We're stupid and addicted to cardboard. Voting with our wallet means sitting on the sideline or taking a swing and hoping to hit a home run. Too many of us will take a swing unfortunately
I think the reason these prices are falling so much is because of a couple of things:
There are like 3 printing versions of several of the supposed chase cards (normal frame, retro frame, poster), and they're not that rare!
Secondly, these chase cards don't really see play in any format outside of edh which is a singleton format.
So basically, it seems like there's just not enough demand to prop up prices!
Appreciate you opening all the boxes for us to watch!
On top of that, a huge chunk of edh players already own these.
I don’t understand why sellers would break boxes and then sell singles for only 1/3 the price of what they were selling for just days earlier and tanking their own investment.
@@MyLibertyTV hype prices
@@JoeyMossBBG That's why you wait 60 - 90 days post release.
@@steven-x3ican you elaborate on this for me. Why 60-90 days?
Typically unless you need the cards for a deck
@@steven-x3i And you think that would solve it? :)) businesses don't run like this, my friend. They do need liquidity, to move inventory, sell etc. This is simply a supply/demand theme, as usual: the set is desirable, but people won't start buying at the inflated, ridiculous pre-release prices. If you wait for 2-3 months after release, you will either have to sell singles at the minimum price point just to sell them as most ppl already got their copies or just keep the singles inventory up for 12-24 months to sell something; also, prices go up and down all the time for any of the chase cards; nobody in the business (or even the lame speculators) would keep singles with hopes of appreciating, as 1 or 2 can gain value over time, but 10-15 others drop dramatically. You end up losing a ton more money if you wait than if you sell early on. This is how the markets work and it is a good thing, otherwise the large shops or any rando with 2-3 pallets (i.e. Rudy) would dictate the price point - oligopoly - and believe me, you wouldn't like that at all. :)
Love innistrad remastered and this is the first collector booster box of a remastered set and was very happy with the pulls 3 Edgar’s, Meathook Massacre(poster), Emrakul(poster), craterhoof, captivating vampire(poster), Olivia(poster), and a slew of solid $10 rares.
I like how Joey just looks at the chart and ignores the volume at that price
At the current prices of cards, It is pretty much impossible to make $160 on a play box. I do think that over the next 6 months to a year, prices will start to rise. Don't sell right now, it will be a guaranteed loss.
The cards you can get in play boosters vs collectors is INSANE.
I didn’t get a single Meathook Massacre or Liliana in my entire box, only got one fang border Edgar. These TH-cam pulls are not indicative of every box.
That's wild! I noticed certain cases cater to a specific mythic
or they got edited boxes they sent to creators to make it look more appealing
@@JoeyMossBBG I watched many streamers opening remastered collector boxes and they were basically as fire as your boxes were. Wizards tanked the prices on purpose.
@@syntheticsylvie The product open here comes from an LGS and I believe is shipped back to them to sell the singles. That LGS doesnt get product directly from Wizards, but from a distributor. So it is incredibly wild to think they knew which product would end up getting opened in these videos.
They did tank the prices. Not by manipulating who ends up with what, but by simply overprinting a lot of the treatments that people assumed would be chases. I opened 2.5 boxes (2 boxes, 6 lose packs). 1 box bombed. 0 Edgars, bad posters. The other box came with 2 Edgars (one Fang frame foil, one regular retro), Foil Emrakul Poster, Meathook Massacre Poster, foil retro Emrakul.. No tampering happening. The reality is so much simpler and is immediately obvious by having a look at the innistrad remastered pack slot breakdown in WOTCs "collecting innistrad remastered" post:
First Slot can only be Foil Movie Poster, foil retro frame or one of the "booster fun treatments" in foil. Eliminates a huge chunk of the R/M (yes, and 1 in 5000 times it can be serialized Edgar).
Second AND third slot: Same thing! Just nonfoil and no chance at Edgar.
Fourth slot: Regular foil rare or mythic.
So, what do we observe? 3 of the 4 slots in collector boosters are limited to a small subset of the cards that have "special" treatments. Only one single slot can have any rare or mythic from the set. Some cards have multiple treatments (surprise, in many cases it's the sought after ones) so they show up even more. You'll find way more Edgar Markovs, Emrakuls, Avacyns and Meathook Massacres in Collector boosters than any random rare from the set that only has its regular treatment.
Only bought one pack of collectors at my local LGS. Pulled a foil Into The Breach poster art foil. Probably one of my favorite cards.
Just gotta show the moss boss some love! Keep doing what you’re doing brother! Vids are much appreciated!
I pulled 4 LOTR posters in one collector box, so it's not that off.
I do wish WOTC would drop a couple of the border treatments. We don't need basic border, extended art, borderless, retro border, and poster art versions of each rare.
Extended art should be the base copy imo if they want to have those. Retro borders in foil are where it's at, they should just drop the non-foil treatments. Borderless or some other special art, the mana foils were really nice imo, that should be it in each set. It's all too convoluted at this point.
In Aetherdrift, there is going to be a new finish/treatment only found in boxtoppers...
@izukukageyama7552 See I'm down for stuff like that
@JoeyMoss Sorin used to see fringe modern play in a deck called Sorin Sliver Combo. The deck uses Sorin to put Morophon into play, naming Slivers. Then cast the First Sliver for free, then cascade into only slivers and tutors that let you attack for enough to win the game.
I'm glad they made the Poster rares more accessible. I think the idea that Magic needs to be an investment is wrong. We will likely see the cards price rise again anyway as time goes on and Remastered is forgotten for Aetherdrift.
I would prefer if in future on top of the rares being accessible, we also see the prices in general being more accessible.
I used to love spending my hard-earned money on cards just to see them reprinted
@ Edgar Markov hadn’t seen a reprint since 2017
Emrakul, the Promised End hadn’t seen a reprint since 2016
Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord hadn’t been reprinted since 2020
Meathook massacre hadn’t been printed since 2021
All the main front and centre cards have had half a decade or more since their last print.
The only exception is Avacyn, Angel of Hope who is still a hard to obtain mythic and whose price hasn’t changed at all.
@Regina-ys4ct Sorin got a reprint in a SL in 2023 as well as Emrakul
Edgar, nothing until this set
Meathook, The List, Promo Pack, Double Feature
Avacyn has had a boat load of reprints as well
I didn't include reprints for every card in this video, only some
As I commented elsewhere if wotc done exquisit art for all zombies, vampires, spirits, wolves and werewolves in all of the innistrad into the remastered set it be a different story, plus add few more serialised cards.
I’m happy enough with Innistrad, I only bought two boosters and got a retro Markov. Don’t need to buy more tbh, already got the chase card. I also pulled my second One Ring, if you have a chance to pick out a pack in a box. Always dig onto the bottom right. Always a great card bottom right. Bought a Baldurs Gate Draft box and the Copper Dragon was in that exact spot. So always bottom right corner. Always. Then after middle, middle.
Collector boosters I've noticed it's first pack left.
@ thanks for sharing, I will add that to me knowledge
It really sucks that you can't collect every movie poster showcase card unless you're extremely lucky, or rich.
Here is what is going to happen: Prices are going to drop from presale price, eventually when this set leaves print prices will start to climb back up, not to the original presale prices but to higher prices, especially the rares and mythics that only have one variation of them in the set like Jace.
But in the end its not always about the value, a lot of these cards bring nostalgia and are very playable. So best recommendation for yall is just have fun and buy the singles you want
Ya, I been pulling heavily away from the collectors packs. Get a fee but buy singles 2 weeks in from a prerelease
Keep thinking how cool it would be to pull an Edgar but in a month he will be cheaper than a collector booster pack.
be $30 in two months, if that
The only thing that drove and kept the collector box price up was Edgar's, and posters, and they are way down atm
That's why I think CB may dip below $300 for a brief moment
I miss old magic when it wasnt about chasing value people just wanted to get cards
a few years ago i speculated on vedalken humiliator....went wrong lol...but i am still proud of my vedalken army
For as many wins that I have, I have just as many losses
Love these kind of videos man
Thanks, more to come
I feel you on the meathook. I pulled a foil and a non foil meathook poster card in 1 pack.... i thought i hit gold.. eh still more than the pack at least.
So right now is a good time to buy right?
Definitely not the worst time to buy
sheoldred is creeping up there, its about where meathook was when decisions were made. they don't like recent set cards hitting 100
Incoming Reprint FS!
It's like when supply enters the market we see price fluctuations. I don't think this affects long term pricing. If anything the more people opening them the less the supply will eventually be
I think the reason they tank as opposed to lord of the rings poster cards is because these cards already have been reprinted multiple times in different treatments already. Even if it's limited, you can still find these cards. In LOTR special there was just the poster version and a version printed 6 months before and no more. Like how many avacyns were there previous to this? 5-6 prints already over time? Same with gitrog. Even olivia which sees almost no play has been printed three times already. The opening experience was prett yweak really. All these borderless versions of cards that are worth less than a dollar in the hit slot in collectors.
Very very true and valid point
People wear gloves for many reasons. It could be for aesthetics or because their hands are not clean or just to show extra attention for the buyer to know that the seller cares about not damaging the card. It may not be true but that is what they are trying to convey. The fact that YOU handle cards and sometimes I do too and nothing happens to the cards are just personal anecdotes. In the end it is better to handle cards with protection than not just like when handling antiques and collectables that are fragile. Oils can quickly make marks and fingers can also remove whatever is on the top of the card from the printer.
@@le_med I wore finger gloves
I think the answer is it’s time to expand the serialized cards. They could try like sports cards where there’s an /500, /250, /100, etc. The key is we don’t want mass printing like Pokemon where the cards have zero value. WOTC needs to find more ways to increase value. If Collector packs are going to be $30.00-$40.00 plus, we need to know we are getting our value or at least a real chance at it.
I like retro framed foil etched cards.
The same thing happens every release, pre-release price high.. release price drops due to high supply. Ppl purchase then price climbs back up
They arent ripping LOTR boxes like they did Innistrad. I think the value will stay at 300 plus for remastered. The one constant, Collecter booster boxes retain inherent value.
You're probably right
Even those low feedback accounts the markov card still has to go to eBay authenticity so you’re protected if it’s a scam.
Joey I'll say one thing thank God that your not having to pay for checking those boxes. Cause where would your money be?
It goes down down down & the flames 🔥 grow higher. The One Ring of Fire 🔥.... SKADOOSH BAGS UNITED with a little P.L.A 😆
Love Magic always have fun playing. Finance wise never invest in novelty items.
In a way I would say it’s a reprint at doing exactly what it should do lowering the price of expensive card making them more accessible to players
Proudest spec was Power Fist at $1.20 ish, then it shot up to nearly $20 🤑🤑
Nice
I understand why collectors and sellers are upset. But to buy singles and to get the frames and variants you want, It is so awesome!!
Lotr special edition did a better job with the posters , the serialized and will appreciate in value.
I dont know why they didnt follow that patern. Lotr special boxes are in the thousands. I think because they nailed what they put in. Obviously
I dont blame them for wearing gloves
just the oils alone from your fingers can mess up a card more so on a 3k card lol
and some people have very oily fingers/skin
I would think the reason they have zero percent on their feedback, is because your average person doesn’t sell on eBay, and people are starting to pull these very expensive cards, which in turn will make some people sell cards on eBay for the first time, it makes sense to me that new sellers would come up during this. However that doesn’t take into consideration people are scummy and scam people, so maybe it’s just people trying to get a quick $
My lgs cracked 3 collector boosters and pulled nothing. Huntmasters and closets 1 lilliana.... I feel like they sent out streamer boxes a few weeks ago.
I bought a case of
Collectors and opened 3. It was fun to open and I pulled a lot of good cards. I’m in no rush to sell and going to wait to put them up. People won’t be opening this set for long due to price and attention on other products so I feel like everything will rebound.
Think of if from a business standpoint, would you rather have 100 cards at $3-$5 or 5 cards at $25-$50?
I think you just see more on social media now than you used to back in the day. They're obviously printing more product than ever before but as long as people keep playing...
Yuppers
Yeah, hanging huge sausages in front of the cart with a fishing rod to make the horse run is WOTC in a nutshell! Yet I seem them make people run again and again, With Cynthia and without!
WotC don’t need to tank the original versions.
They can just change the art and re-release the card.
But they know that just slapping on a new set symbol will crush the second had market, and this is their plan.
Long term though, all it does is damage the whole product of Magic as a collectable and this is why, even though they are still making profit (you can’t lose selling paper), their customer confidence is rotting away and they are having to keep coming up with cheap tricks to win sales through FOMO.
But they can only slow the rot this way and not stop it.
When I buy a collector box I usually about 100-200+$CAD in card worth but with innistrad I bought a 400$CAD collector box and got about 200$ worth
Problem is the collector boxes
No need to feel bad for people that may have overpaid for one card or another. It's literally how a free market works. When you get new products on the market people want them and the demand is high.
@@eamonnparsons3155 This is true just look to sports cards. Same happens to their value
Concur on high pull rate. I opened 2 boxes and got 3 emrakul posters and 3 markovs. 10 posters over 24 packs.
Every CBB has 3 guaranteed poster arts this time around, ofc the prices tanked. A ton of boxes I've seen have 2-3 Edgar's. Pull rates were amazing on these boxes. Bottom line. So yeah, boxes tanked in price. I was going to do another CBB, but why would I when for the same price I can purchase the poster arts in missing, an Edgar, and nearly every other rare and Mythic as a single for the same price?
I was able to get all foil posters in the set plus some other goodies for less than the price of a collectors box. Buy singles people!
We all knew the prices would drop, but those drops were insane tbh vs historical set price drops post pre-release… after this newest race car BS set I am boycotting Magic tbh… I’d get back into D&D but WoTC has ruined that too 😅
Lets be honest… since the Hasbro buyout it has been downhill
We should start a Call of Cthulhu or Vampire: The Masquerade play group and make content off that and tell them they suck by not paying those bitches our hard earned dough, bro 😎
💯
We all know we will complain, yet still keep buying that cardboard crack… damnit 😂
@@nathaniellovely ain't that the truth lol
Im brand new to the game at age 42 and have been watching people open packs ... I was wondering how some of the cards being pulled were almost 200$ when they opened 2 in 1 pack ... I thought ... Thats a flooded market though.
The set literally just came out, flooding the market and the set is already out of print, within a year the prices will go up, staples will go up.
I been saying in two years $500/box. People think I'm crazy but the Rudys of the world know what's up
I was really bummed when I found out we wouldn’t have a serial griselbrand tbh. My wife is happy though.
Interesting 🤔
Thanks for the great video!
Thx for watching
I opened a booster box and a collector pack. 4 cards worth $5 or more and as of today one of them dipped under 5 lol. Got some cool cards but this set was vastly overpriced.
I don't understand everyone's expectations about cards staying at 100% value. Guess what? All the good cards go right back up. Also strongly disagree on price of collectors. No reprint and playable cards. This set will do just fine.
I'm expecting a brief dip to below $300 then $500 CBB in two years
Been watching Rudychan right?
lol big ticket items, shows a $23 emrakul. I can't speak I just bought 2 x textured jeweled lotus for $500aud each :/ I never bought 1 single Innistrad remarstered anything. I bought Doctor Who, and Aetherdrift.

Pulled 2 meathhok master posters from one pack. One foil and one non. Then 2 cards back was a retro of it. 3 collector Boosters I got like 15 posters. I don't even like the look of the posters

Don’t all prices drop for reprints?
Dude, these aren't printed into Oblivion. Limited print run. Gonna sky rocket to 4 or 500 by next year
well... how is it a surprise??? it was absolutely predictable
Collectors boosters should still be 200.
Better yet. They should be done away with and all this stuff should just be in normal packs.
Edit: on ebay any card sold for over 250 gets sent to them. They then authenticate before the seller gets money and it's sent on to the buyer.
In a non capitalist perfect world
Come on Joey, WOTC cards ALWAYS TANK. You guys hype this crap up yet know its tanking. We watch so many unboxings and all the poster cards is ridiculous. But they won't tank LOL come on bro. Ur better then that.
In 6 months the market will go up
This is why I’ll never buy magic cards again, well I haven’t for years now.. wotc has mismanaged this game so bad it’s truly sad.
then why watch the video lol
Collect for fun. Not investment. Buy singles.
Those movie poster cards are ugly.
RETRO FRAME FOIL FRACTURED RAINBOW SERIALIZED!
Spamming special versions of cards is not making it better in my opinion. For example the Edgar treatments are all worse than the original in my opinion. And there's plenty. So they don't feel special anyway.
The art on the serialised Edgar is just Meh.
I do however like the retro frame treatment of Sorin and Liliana and some other cards. I'm gonna get me a set of both in foil. At some point Sorin will be unbanned again I hope in pioneer.
They reprinted a set that isnt even all that old. It's a bit sucker-y to begin with. But collector booster packs are cool in any set. 🤷
If you were going to buy play boosters, why not just pick up sealed original boxes?
i really dont have any incentive to buy or open packs anymore. magic nowadays just.... sucks.
last year i only draft twice and attend 1 prerelease event since i have to go a long way just to go to the card shop because several card shop near my home stopped holding magic events.
i dont play edh, standard sucks, modern tournament are far in between. future release will be bonkers with half of the released set will be universe beyond (non magic magic cards). i guess i will just fade and stop buying products until they make magic feels like magic again.
So the whole video is about, value going down and "trying to" explain why... 👍
