Luckily it’s not as intense as it sounds!! The longstanding UTAU wiki’s guidelines classify an UTAU as abandoned after only 6 months of its owner (usually the UTAU’s original creator(s))’s input regarding a given UTAU. “Abandoned” is also different from “discontinued”, which is when one or all of an UTAU’s voicebanks that the UTAU’s owner had previously publicly distributed for public download are removed from public access. So if an UTAU is private (only the owner and people with private download permission, as well as anyone who downloaded any of the UTAU’s voicebanks if they were ever public and still has the existing files from back then), in theory it could be discontinued but not abandoned if the owner still posts content regarding an UTAU that only permits private use, like how Makku became once his downloads were removed after Gian started on plans to upgrade him. Sango312 (Neko Kanochi’s creator/owner) hasn’t posted on TH-cam in 8 years, but her voicebanks are still available for download! I feel that the 6 month abandonment period is a bit too strict with how much time this hobby can actually take, especially as so many people were teens when they made UTAUs, and now are so much busier with work, college, etc. I’d say they only feel abandoned once it’s been a handful of years like in the extreme examples in this video. Matsudappoiyo is a great example mentioned, coming out of discontinuation along with a new voicebank for his 10 year anniversary. Depending on circumstances, some banks feel “abandoned” to me after 1-2 years, but others may not even past a decade. Especially since these terms only have to do with an UTAU owner’s input; many UTAUs with active fan communities are abandoned and/or discontinued by these metrics!!!

Tanaka Nori, Neko Kanochi and Megan Shinaichi are my personal favs! Despite their age (and them being abandoned) they hold up pretty well
Nori is really high quality for being a 2009 voicebank and could probably pass as a modern CV!
